Lovely location for the downtown experience”

Location, lobby decoration, friendly helpful staff.

This hotel, located in the downtown core, is a lovely choice for access to the joys of urban Cape Town. It has a lovely lobby which is an homage to Nelson Mandela, with quotations, an interesting sculpture and an impressive painting. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and fully functional. The staff were remarkably responsive. We used a washing machine in the room, and as we washed a large amount of clothes, the staff heroically brought in a dryer and hooked it up for us as well. My daughters enjoyed the spa, and were very impressed with their treatment there. The roof top pool is lovely, and the general feel of the place was welcoming and friendly. I would stay there again.

Excellent stay at Mandela Rhodes”

Full amenities, Washer/dryer. travel agency on site, excellent staff, good food.
None I can think of

We stayed at Mandela Rhodes for 4 days. Everything worked our perfect. Staff was very helpful. The rooms were very clean and equipped with all the amenities (washer dryer, full equipped kitchen, etc). They look exactly like on the pictures. There is a travel agency on site where we arranged tours for wineries and cape hope with a great tour guide. Transportation from and to the airport was also arranged by them. Overall great experience. I would definitely recommend it.

Wonderful Experience”

The staff from the receptionist to the maids went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that my family and had a relaxing stay at the hotel and an adventure throughout the city. Great location as the hotel is located in the center of many of Cape Towns tourist attractions such as Long Street. I did not have to go far to enjoy some of the best sights the city had to offer. The Hotel even organized a private tour for my family and I.There's a great Italian restaurant located on the ground floor as well. Excellent morning breakfast offered by the Hotel in the roof bar near the pool.
NONE

One of the best experiences Ive had at a hotel. I would highly recommend this place to someone considering attending the World Cup. Great room, staff, location. The rooms have full kitchen and laundry facilities to make you feel right at home during yours stay. The staff is responsive and make an effort to accommodate any request. I cant wait to stay there again when I go back to Cape Town.

Lovely hotel but a few issues”

Central location, self catering a bonus

We have stayed at Mandela Rhodes Place before so knew that the full kitchens with washing machines would really help with a sixteen month old toddler. When we booked in to the room the first night were really impressed with the quality of the room and it had all the amenities as promised. Unfortunately what we didn't bank for was the noise from a nightclub from eleven till four am. The hotel kindly moved us to another room after that as we were so exhausted. Later on in the week the hotel upgraded us to a tower room as the second room was not as furnished as what we had paid for and the tower room was a treat. I think the hotel did their best to deal with a situation when fully booked very well. When chatting to the hotel about the nightclub it appears to be an issue not yet resolved, but mostof the hotel rooms are not affected. Therefore I suggest when booking to ask for a room not facing St George's Mall direction.

The hotel is located in the heart of Capetown city center within walking distance from major attractions as eastern Dutch company 's garden, the slavery lodge, castle of good hope, the live long street and even Victoria and Albert V&A waterfront is about 30 minutes walk. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Hotel apartments are spacious, comfortable and clean. The internet connection is limited. Great place to stay, excellent value for money.”

If you can, book platinum rooms, these are located in the tower, and are much more spacious than the superior rooms. Ours had a large lounge/dinning room, and large kitchen, very clean, and tidy. The staff at the check inn desk, are very helpfull, and polite. The lobby area also has a coffee shop, and eatery, where you can have breakfast/lucnch/dinner. But there are heaps of places to eat outside. The hotel is centraly located, but it's a long walk to the V & A waterfront area, however, taxis are cheap, and plentifull. Highly recommended.

Do not go to cape town”

The hotel had large spacious reasonably clean rooms but it was located in Cape Town an awful place so I therefore cannot recommend it. Every time you leave the building you are accosted by filthy beggars who latch onto you and walk beside you down the street, refusing to leave. When you finally reach the end of their patch you are immediately accosted by the next filthy beggar. We ended up having to get ubers everywhere, even just round the corner. If you must go to Cape Town I recommend staying at the V&A waterfront instead.

Good value hotel but with a few points to work on”

Nice apartment, good location
attention to detail lacking, issues with hot water, noise from street a problem.

This hotel was fine for our stay, but just fine. Not great. The hot water in the shower ran out after less than a 5 minute shower, each time it was used which meant only one person could shower in the morning without the other waiting for the hot water to come back. The noise from the street was also an issue, we were on the 3rd floor and were woken up on the weekends by people yelling in the lane behind the hotel. When we asked to switch to a higher floor we were told we would need to pay an additional cost equivalent to about $40 per night due to the fact that no rooms in our category were available. Coffee in our room wasn't replaced daily, we had to call down and ask for more to be brought up and even after we called, it still wasn't replaced daily. Aside from these issues, the hotel is in a great location, convenient and with a good Italian restaurant inside.

Cape Town - City Centre Hotel/Apartments”

Modern, spacious, clean self catering apartment. Great location.
Minor room maintenance issues, but nothing serious.

We (2 adults and 2 kids) rented a 2 bedroom self catering apartment for 3 days. The apartment was modern, clean and spacious. There were 1 or 2 minor room maintenance issues (eg. broken shelf in cupboard) but they were so minor that we didn't mention it to the hotel. Besides that, there isn't anything that we could fault this hotel on. The staff were friendly and efficient and the location was very central with safe, secure underground parking. We were extremely happy with our choice and would definitely stay here again.

Good location but it has its drawbacks”

Personnel at the front desk was professional and receptive. However, only the manager was authorized to change a room allocated. Her unavailability to allocate a different room proved problematic as the 4th floor one fronting St Georges Mall was far from ideal. Poor window insulation meant a restful nights sleep was impossible. The noise from the revelers and drunks was disruptive. At this price point, I would expect windows that block outside noise. The coffee shop in the lobby is nice and was very convenient for breakfast. Location is also quite good.

First of all the staff was very friendly. But when we were shown into our suite the gentleman quickly squeezed with his shoe a huge cockroach which tried to leave the room. Room 603 looks nice but the sliding glass door of the bathroom was gone so no privacy when going to the toilet. It was like sleeping next to the toilet. The atrium looks like a prison with its metal structure. Not appealing to consider coming again.
