Manee Dheva ticked all the right boxes for me. Spectacular location affording amazing views, very friendly staff, large beautifully designed luxury bungalows, and did I mention the views? Set in a valley amongst mountains and rice paddies, it's almost too idyllic. Recommended for couples and groups of friends.
Beautiful hotel, clean spacious rooms, lovely staff, delicious food, nature. Couldn't ask for more! But definitely stop at the 7 eleven before you arrive and get a couple bottles of water to have with you during your stay. Would definitely reccomend this beautiful hotel for any getaway couple!
A Delightful Escape”
After spending 2 days in Chiang Rai we wanted to get more out into the surrounding countryside and the Manee Dheva was the perfect place for us! It is located about 45 minutes outside of Chiang Rai and this resort provides transport to their place. The owner, Francis was very helpful with emails to help us coordinate our tours and how we'd get to and from this resort since we didn't have a car. We absolutely loved the location out in nature with the rice fields and mountains in the background. The individual villas were clean and spacious and you really felt a sense of peace out in nature at this resort. We especially enjoyed visiting the Golden Horse Monastery that was about 20 minutes away and heading up into the hills of Doi Mae Salong. We stayed here 2 nights and could have stayed longer as it was truly a relaxing and beautiful resort!
This is a real relaxing hotel. The rooms between the fields to be connect with a small bridge. Eye view from the bed, full of the natural green color of the field. Hotel's restaurant and swimming pool located in the main entrance of the main building, Looking at the beautiful outdoor landscape in dining and swimming area. It can refreshing you. Perfect holiday for me and my wife.
Nice oasis in the Thai countryside”
Impeccable villas in a lovely setting. The facilities and service are excellent. The only caveat is location. The resort is not really near anything. You are in a villa, in the middle of a rice paddy, in the middle of a relatively isolated valley. Which is exactly what we were looking for. Travelers (especially travelers without a car) looking for a base to explore the area might find the resort a tad isolated. It is a convenient way station when traveling through the Northern Thailand countryside by car and is perfect for those looking for some peace, nature, and idyllic relaxation. Our villa had twin beds so if you are traveling as a couple, you may want to check with reception (or your travel agent) when making a reservation to verify the sleeping arrangements. Bungalows are gorgeous.
Unique experience ”
I love the surrounding here , all the villas are surrounded by rice field and trees. You can only hear the nature sounds The spa service in room was great and not too pricy. We had a great dinner in hotel and the food was excellent! Price is from 150-300baht for each dish But if u are the person who is not comfortable with little bugs then u should reconsider coz there are many in the room. But for me ,it is fine and acceptable .
Very peaceful place with great service”
We were looking for a nice and quite place during public holidays and this place is just the one we are looking for. The staff performance were top-notch. The room is really neat. And the scenery is remarkable. With just 9 villas there so we are really having a great quite and private time. We will definitely go there again!
Delightful hotel, beautiful views, very special”
I live in Thailand and this is one of my favorites. The setting in the valley is really beautiful from sunrise to sunset, the outdoor restaurant is delightful. The food is delicious, the staff is wonderful. Each villa is so private, out in the rice fields. Very tastefully done in every way. Lots of things close by to see and do, or just come to relax.
Spectacular natural setting”
This is a wonderful place to stay for a couple or a group of adults looking to "get away from it all." The setting in the middle of a working rice paddy surrounded by hills is truly spectacular. Francis, the co-owner and host is very friendly and helpful. The staff are similarly attentive but unobtrusive. The bathroom had excellent water pressure and ample hot water, which are often missing in these types of resorts. Because of the relatively remote location, it would not be suitable for those not with their own transportation (either hired driver or driving oneself) unless you don't plan to leave the hotel, which would be a shame because of all of the amazing, out of the way, places within striking distance. For the same reason, this would not be a good choice for those wishing to spend a lot of time in the city of Chiang Rai. The only other caveat would be for those with small children, since the open design includes potentially dangerous drop-offs
Nice Villas, great food, great place”
These villas reminds me of Dhara Devee or Four Seasons Chiang Mai for tenth of it's price! The location is way up in the mountains, far off from the city, the breeze is nice. The down side is they couldn't keep the bugs out of the room, but sleeping in the net help. The room itself was amazing nice, the food on the roof top over teh rice field was great. The owner / manager is French always on ground, great place to be for couples or honeymooners!
fireflies....... magical time!!!”
Great place to relax for a few day. In mid Oct we saw a few fireflies from the balcony. I wondered when was the last time I saw these beautiful creatures. The bed is comfy (my partner loved it but for me a bit too soft though..., well it depends on your preference, I guess.) Since there is nothing but paddie fields, you need to have your transportation to get around. Dinner/lunch/bfast can be arranged at hotel restaurant or as room-service. One day we ordered in 2 curries/1 northern thai food with rice Very tasty. The swimming pool looks nice but as far as I see, there is no shade/deck chair, so we did not bother dipping in there during our 2 days stay. The European owner seemed very kind and lovely. The hotel is great for those who seek relaxation.
Wonderful resort. Very relaxed and peaceful setting outside of Mae Chan. The villas are beautiful and staff very helpful and friendly. Food also delicious and reasonably priced! Nice areas nearby to walk and explore. Very hard to leave!
Like a bit of Bali in Thailand”
Lovely villas set among rice fields and nature. Fall asleep to the chorus of critters. Striking traditional architecture by one of Thailand's national artists that literally intertwines with the plants and surroundings. Very cool restaurant under a monumental roof with nice view of area. Excellent service and well worth the steeply discounted price due to low-season.
Quiet and nature lover must visit here”
Good:) 1.i love most is about the rice plant which it means that ur villa will be facing the rice field! Which is amazing! And I love their balcony,it will be better if I bring my yoga mat along. So I can do light work out there in the morning. 2.the weather especially early morning and evening time are cooling,I love it 3.ur bath tub ,u can enjoy the rice field while u soaking in the bath tub so my suggestion is bring bath bomb along! It always works 4.most of all,all staffs are very friendly and proactive to assist you. Things can be improved:) 1.no Basic amentity preset in the shower room.Which normally they suppose to.... 2.lots of ants And local insects flying around. So my suggestion is bring allergy cream or sth cream that in case u got allergic you can apply on it.Keep balcony door closed at all time. 3.U can only eat food at the resort if u don't have ur own car. There is no 7/11 or anything nearby! Please buy some wate enough for ur stay. cheers !!!
We needed a few days R&R after visiting busier places and we certainly found what we were after here. The food was great, the staff so welcoming and we found time from relaxing to fit in a massage. Really nice little forest Temple 15 minutes walk away too. If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you. Very good wifi access in our bungalow as well for when we wanted to contact the outside world.
dispute regarding dinner charges”
We were told one dinner set cost B498 and each set had enough quantity for two persons. We ordered two sets, and then we were charged 4 X 498 because we had four persons. We had to ask for clarity and the hotel then reduced the charge slightly but not to our opinion. Staff seemed unhappy and they spilled coffee/drinks. Hotel boss appeared smooth but the overcharge for dinner left a bitter aftertaste. Won't return.
Stunning view in beautiful countryside !”
The small villas are far from the road. Very comfortables and quiet. View on rice fields and river. Semi open bathroom can be cold. Restaurant open too. A bit cold in the evening but you can ask for a braséro. Very charming place. Staff is great and the food is delicious. We recommend.
Amazing experience ”
Having traveled extensively throughout Thailand the last 17 years I have stayed in many resorts but this one is up there in my favourite top 3. The owner Frances is a very pleasant and interesting host and made us feel very welcome indeed! His staff are well trained and very helpful and couldn’t do enough. The Resort itself is outstanding for its ambience and is superbly designed with nature and relaxation in mind.I will definitely be returning there for a longer stay next time hopefully in the new year!!
A real Gem”
The place is owned and designed by a French man and his continental touches mixed with Thai design make this place truly magnificent!! We couldn't get enough of the serenity of the location, the comfort and space of the villas as well as the beautiful views over the rice fields. I have marked that it was incredible value for money thanks to the Agoda deal. If we had to pay the full price, I would have said that it was too expensive as the breakfast was a let down, the food menu at the restaurant was very limited and not exciting. Furthermore quite a few items on the menu were 'sold out'. We were more or less the only ones there (which was super lovely) so we were surprised that things as simple as spring rolls could be sold out. The staff was absolutely lovely though. The only other thing I would mention is, although it was amazing to have a 'kitchen area' as we ended up buying our own food and the fridge was big enough to keep all of our four days shopping, it is weird that there is no sink in that kitchenette and a shame that the roof isn't closed as we had TONES of geckos every evening. We love geckos but as people living in the tropic will know, they do the most awfully smelly poos and pees and our suitcases and other ingredients stank and had to be thoroughly disinfected. Except from that this is a must visit and must stay hotel.
Pros.. a unique rice terrace villa. Great view. Sleep around the nature voice. Bird, frog.. francis give a welcome gratitude.. con.s.. no wifi on the villa. Francis charge fir a route wifi.. a shame for such a great resort but charge wifi.. maybe need an improvement..
