Beautiful Hotel and setting, but costly!”
i have stayed in thailand often and i was happy with this resort. it isn't very close to much of what phuket has to offer, so it is best to rent a motor bike if you want to get around. also it is very expensive. seriously $8 for a cocktail at the bar? even with that, if you can get a deal on the room it is a beautiful place to stay. the staff speaks good english and they are very friendly.
Best'State of mind" in Phuket”
I've been to Phuket many times over the last 10 years, but is simply the best place, best location, best accomodation and best staff,but..get a car, drive around, discover beaches, restaurants, simply fantastic.
Really relaxing hotel”
The hotel is just next to the main road that can be easily find. Chalong beach area is really quiet at night that you can have a good dream and a rest. It does not like Patong area that crowded and busy. Each hotel rooms are nicely designed to have good view while having good personal privacy. The swimming pool is good enough for sunshine and having an easy swim. Overall I am really satisfied with having a trip there.
Enjoyed the relaxing stay at 'away from the world'”
Enjoyed the stay far from the daily life. Around the hotel, there is nothing and accessibility is very bad, so recommend for the people who stay & enjoy the hotel life. Set up is quite nice and view is exellent.
The location of the Mangosteen affords beautiful views, although it means that the beach is a (free 5 minute) shuttle bus away. After we had eaten in the restaurant once, we never went anywhere else again. Excellent Thai, and the European food we saw looked very nice aswell (We love Thai so never eat anything else when in Thailand). Staff are very attentive and friendly, and our 4 year old daughter had a great time (although there were no other families there, it's predominantly but not exclusively a romantic retreat). We found the value to be excellent for what we received in return and would recomment it to anyone.
Wonderful place for adults under 40”
We enjoyed staing in the hotel from the begining till the end. It’s real 5 star hotel. Perfect client oriented service, cleaness. But far from the sea. Although no good beaches at that area at all. Seefood market on Rawai beach is highly recommended (10 min by taxi).
Despite seeing reviews saying the Mangosteen was quite isolated, it was only a 6-7 minute walk to a few shops/restaurants/bars, so the location is not bad at all. The free beach shuttle works like clockwork. However the reviews commenting on the fairly high Mangosteen prices for food and drinks were quite accurate - when comparing them to locally run restaurants etc, but as a resort, the prices were in keeping with other Thai resorts and pretty close to UK prices. For example, a glass of wine was 290 Baht, roughly £6.50 (all wine in Thailand is similarly priced in restaurants/resorts). The beer price at 160 Baht for a small bottle is quite high, but the cheaper minibar prices do make up for that. This is a positive review...excellent quality food, amazing - big - rooms with fantastic bathrooms. The staff were 99% very friendly and efficient. The pool area is good, albeit fairly small. Do not miss the Thursday night Asian buffet, the Monday night Thai one sounds similarly good.
Awesome, relaxing resort”
A very relaxing resort, aimed at adults (35 or older). The pool is super super awesome! The grounds are very well looked after and the facilities are very well presented. Staff were great. Rooms were very nice and very comfortable. Quiet location. It is not located within walking distance of a beach, which is unfortunate, however, given the pool is so awesome we didn't miss the beach at all.
Quality and clean hotel, well above the Thai standard. Drinks and food quite expensive, I think in part due to location and the ability to monopolise on lack of alternates. Little piece of paradise nonetheless!
Quiet, but some unfriendly staff ”
We found some unsociable and not polite staff when checking in to the Mangosteen Resort, which wasn't appropriate, especially after a long journey. Customer service management courses should be provided to certain individual staff members to avoid future Issa with ongoing clients.
Nice hotel with good service staffs. ”
both hubby and me stayed there for 2 nites and this is the first time going to nai harn area in phuket. we would usually go to patong but this time round, we wanted somewhere quiet and peaceful and not too crowded. nai harn is just the place! the hotel is cosy and nice! everything about the hotel is rather good and seriously i can't think of any complaints on it. maybe the most i can complain about is that the location of hotel is far from patong. thus those who would love night life and visit patong very often, it may not be a good idea to stay here as the taxi transfer can be rather expensive.
Wonderful resort, many steps from car park”
Very remote, if you do not have your own transport, it is a long distance from everywhere. Access roads very poorly maintained but in all, extensive and impressive large rooms, staff great, breakfast unending but had it not been an Agoda Promotion, could not see being satisfied with room rates. Ocean views wonderful, down side being food cost and mini bar at least 300% on outside prices.
a great stay, as always”
I had a great stay at Mangosteen. It was a bit expensive, considering it is low season but well worth it. The room is beautiful and because there were hardly any people, I felt like I had the whole pool to myself. THe staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. The buffet was delicious, with a wide variety of food.
relax on the top of the hill”
Very spacious rooms in each villa, and the whole compound is nicely designed around the hill with a very large swimming pool on the top. F&B is good, service very helpful and attentive. Good value for the price; disadvantage: one has to shuttle to the beaches, but we decided that it is not even necessary, because it is as nice to stay on the top of the hill at the swimming pool. Internet connection could be improved.
a great little hotel tucked away in the hills. rooms have good views, are large and have alfresco ( outside) showers. restaurant is good. has a free bus to the beach poolside cocktails are good value for money, especially in happy hour !
Good facility and survice but faraway location”
Good facility, good survice, good view and nice swimming pool. The many steps are little unsuit for the small baby. The location of the hotel is far a way from the beach and from the shop like an isolated island.
Quiet resort in Phuket”
it is located at the very south of phuket island. 20mins to the town centre and 30 mins to padong beach. almost one hr from the airport. a bit far but ok if u drive. for me, it is not that easy to find. room are big. very clean and tidy, a bit old but well maintained. service is not bad but if u need travel info or local tour, better check with the local travel agents. they are not very helpful and expensive. buffet breakfast had various choice, fair quality.
amazing, amazing, amazing....”
we were totally blown away with the service, location, room/bathroom, and the pool was just super relaxing. apparently there is a filtration system that des not use any clorine or chemicals so there is no harm to the eyes or skin. and...the pool is open 24 hrs a day...wonderful eveing swims are a must there... the buffet breakfast was the best i've ever had and the room service food was stellar. we will definately be back for more!!
Great place, 5 stars all the way”
i can't say enough a good things about the resort and its staff. the beds were very comfortable and the villa were quiet. the staff were very polite and service oriented. all the staff were very pleasant and obliging: the check-in/ check-out, the concierges, and the wait staff in the restaurant. the food in the restaurant was well-prepared. it was a pleasure to stay at this resort. i would stay there again.
Boutique hotel with nice amenities ”
We had a great time at Mangostene, great ambience, although this hotel is kind of far from the patong area, but when you stayed at this hotel it makes you feel like you are away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life. We highly recommend this hotel.
