Great hotel, great price, great staff”
Even though there are hundreds and hundreds of hotels in Greater Manila Area, we constantly repeat return to Manila Grand Opera because we know what to expect. We do try other hotels, and it seems Manila Grand Opera sets the bar when balancing price, staff and comfort. We recently (March 2014) chose Manila Grand Opera even though it was 10km from our business destination in Manila over 100 hotels within 1 km of our destination because we knew what to expect. And again, Manila Grand Opera Hotel delivered a hassle-free accommodation for us to rest ourselves.
Unexpectedly Very Good”
Locals who know Manila had not heard of the Manila Grand Opera Hotel and when I mentioned Sta Cruz location they suggested I really watch myself at night in that area (since I am an American). I absolutely found no problems with the local area and furthermore, with any loss of security in the hotel during my stay. So, I say this hotel was unexpectedly very good, beyond my expectations! I will plan to stay here in the future on my trips to and from Manila.
Luxury Hotel at the Heart of Downtown Manila”
We stayed at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel since we're attending a function there that same night. We felt it's more convenient to just check-in rather than go home after a tiring night and at the same time, try out if their 5-star rating is accurate or not. Since most nearby hotels/motels aren't comparable to this one, we're still surprised that the service and ambiance somehow exceeded our expectations. The front desk staff were very pleasant and all smiles while the lobby area is very modern and classy. Since we stayed in one of their standard room without windows, it's expectedly not that big but still spacious. You have everything you'll find in a 5-star hotel room except for a bathtub and flat LCD TV. But still, we had a great time staying here and it's well worth the Php2,200($53) we paid for. Breakfast for 2 is also included and the menu is just remarkable.
Island of Sanity”
I was pleasantly surprised at my 3 days at the Manilla Grand Opera Hotel. The area of town where the Hotel is located is fairly poor, lots of rough stalls, congested traffic and quite a bit of trash blowing around. The Hotel was a completely diffwerent story. Although the staff advised me not to go our after dark, (period), everything I needed was in the hotel, or across the street at the very handy 7-11. The desk staff (Reception) were absolutely wonderful in their many suggestions about where to go to use the one day I had free. The Hotel provides a pick-up service at the airport (must be made in advance)... They actually return emails ... !!! The pick-up service is 40-50% less than a local taxi. They provide free shuttle service to 4 local shopping and visitor sites in the City of Manila .... Mall of Asia was where I went. Dropped off and picked up .... great service. Only complaint was the hotel is still paper receipt dependant, the check-out was lengthy because they had to wade through a mountain of paper receipts. I was unable to get copies of the room service receipts for food costs, beccause they were not submitted (apparently) by the room service department. I paid my bills in cash because they would not accept American Express (Corporate) credit cards. They accept Visa and Master Card.
comfort and convenience”
We had a nice stay in Manila Grand Opera Hotel. First, the location is really very nice, it is very accessible, its located in the center of the busy downtown, lots of transportation available, second is the price of the hotel rooms, very afforadable, considering tjat the rooms are well maintained, clean and the beds are comfortable. Price of the food in the restaurant in the lobby Is ok and affordable, taste good also. To top it all, we had a great time in staying im Manila Grand Opera Hotel.
For the price it's a great value”
We love the Manla Grand Opera even though it's an older hotel. The place is clean, the water is hot and the staff are quick and attentive. We choose the package that includes the buffet breakfast. If you are a picky eater and have high expectations, then you may not like the breakfast. However, it's hot with about a dozen selections with coffee and drinks and you will be full without have to go and hunt for your morning meal and then you can get on with your day. We love the Manila Grand Opera!
Hello, Thank you very much for your feedback. It's good to know that our Hotel staffs were able to make you comfortable. We are already looking into the matters that needs improvement. Have a nice day and best regards.
I enjoyed our stay at the Manila Grand Opera hotel. I paid less and it was like a 4 or 5 star hotel accommodation. I recommended the place. Their swimming is really nice for the kids and adults to have a relaxation. And again the best was the free shuttle to Mall of Asia and other listed destinations. I like the fact that this hotel is connected to LRT stations if you want to skip the traffic. I felt relax and felt secure at the place. I will stay again when I go back to Manila.
Beyond my expectations”
"Beyond my expectations."-That was the first time wherein I and my family slept over in a hotel in time with the New Year's eve celebration. We usually spend those occasions in our home. But our stay with Manila Grand Opera Hotel was really "almost perfect". Thou we had our minor concerns in food delivery and discharge due to influx of clients, over all, I could say that it was a Memorable moment with my family in a very affordable price. For sure, it will happen again with Agoda. Thank you Agoda.
We had a great time. All the staff receptionist, guards, elevator assistants, pool attendants, especially food and beverages staff gave us wonderful service. We had a sumptuous lunch more than what we expect and they even gave us complimentary desserts for 12 persons even we only have 6 set meals...Thank you Manila Grand Opera Hotel
Hello, Sir/Madam. Thank you very much for giving us an excellent review. We appreciate it very much. We also apologize for not being able to respond to your review sooner. We look forward to having you again. Best regards.
Very Nice Hotel”
the manila grand opera hotel is a very nice hotel with modern amenities that will suit the need of most travelers. the entrance gives the impression of a 5 star hotel. the staff is very friendly, professional, and accommodating. the rooms are average size but quite comfortable. the bathroom was nice and yes, a hot, hot shower. you can access complimentary wi-fi but don't expect to get much done as it can be quite slow and frustrating if your trying to get anything of importance done. i selected a room with a window but it's a very small window and does not make that much of a difference. it did, however, overlook the swimming pool. the room service menu was pretty good, but be careful, there are two different menus...one from the more expensive restaurant. the prices for room service were not too bad at all. make sure to get the room (breakfast included) other wise you will pay too much for the breakfast buffet. the worst i can say about the hotel is the location. it has to be in one of the worst areas i have ever visited in the pi. it is not safe. even the locals are weary of the area. my friends wanted me to check out and go to a better area. the traffic is horrific. don't expect to take inexpensive taxi ride. the drivers either want more because of "the traffic" or they run up the meter with the "secret switch". fortunately, access to the lrt is next to the hotel. overall, i had a nice stay, but because of the distance and the location, i will not stay at this hotel again.
friendly staff and great service”
this is my 4th stay within this year. i simply love the place not only because they have a great staff but because of the quality service they provide as well as the cleanliness and orderliness of the hotel. i have a lot of options of where to stay but i've always opted with manila grand opera hotel.. well, thank you for the good accomodation and will see you soon again.
Manila Grand Opera Hotel has perfect, central location - near the China town and very accessible to the LRT station. Rooms are clean, comfortable, well-kept. Staff was friendly and helpfull. We enjoyed buffet breakfast.
Lovely hotel and service with a smile”
as for me the hotel is clean nice and good service. staff are all friendly and approachable to their guest, the pool is also nice for me and i like the music lounge ktv very romantic. tha casino has only one games to play not so good. the breakfast buffet is deliciously great we enjoy it but the order from the menu we didnt like it just like the shanghai lumpia and the cookies and cream ice cream the price is a lit bit high but the taste is not worth it. il be back in ur hotel next year for another vacation so i consider ur hotel 4 star rating. see u in next year manila grand opera hotel.
We enjoyed our stay at Manila Grand. The location is very convenient for us. The hotel is clean and well-maintained. Staffs are very nice and accommodating. I was actually disappointed at first because the first room that was given to us (with windows as requested) didn't meet my expectation (far from the pictures posted online), and very far from the room that I had before (which was not booked online). So I requested to transfer to another room. Although without windows, yet far better than the first one. Facilities are good. We enjoyed the pool which was clean and not crowded, as well as the sauna. Loved the restaurant, the dinner and buffet breakfast. Over-all, best value for money.
Hello, thank you for recommending the hotel and for giving the hotel an excellent rating. We are happy to know you had a good time during your stay. We hope you could visit us again soon. Have a nice day.
extremely pleased visitor”
I'm very pleased with my stay. The location was the closest i could hope for from my fiancee's family. Everyone treated us with a smile. .helpful and friendly. ...I'll definitely stay at the Manila Grand Opera for all my visits.
Great location. Hotel staff are accommodating. ”
Overall, it was a pleasant stay and enjoyable. The staff are efficient and friendly. I feel at home at Manila Grand Opera Hotel.
fabulous manila grand opera hotel.”
I have a nice stay in Manila grand opera hotel, very accessible and the hotel staff are very hospitable.
Good to be back!”
It is great to be back to Manila Grand Opera Hotel with friends. Try their big and affordable Karaoke rooms with your friends. The restaurant at the lobby (The President's) serves delicious chinese food without hurting your budget! Pool is well-maintained too.
it was okay, so I extended my stay”
okay so I extended my stay one more night, and here the review with less "typos" this is really an odd place. I have been a guest at the Grand Opera some years ago during their very first week of operation, when only 2 floors were open for business. That time already I was a little amused about the "hybrid" style of the hotel. The Lobby tries to look 5-star with uniformed greeters, a huge Piano, Chandeliers and such. But the rooms are really litle more than 2 star budget style, plus cheap finishings. years ago I was given a room facing the front, now I had a room towards the back, with view over the quite large Pool (the Hotel's best feature). but the room was really TINY and had only a very small window. very small and very basic bathroom. to be fair: the room-rates refelct 2 star accomodation as well, matching the standard of the room, but still it's a little odd. a brekafast was included, which came in form of an entirely Chinese (thats their main customer base, people who will most likely gamble in the casino on the 2nd floor) buffet. nothing to write home about but ok enough to fill your stomach in the morning and have a coffee. The area itself is extremely sleazy, even by Manila standards, so don't think about walking around at night. the first night I arrived very late and only went to the Chowking 200 meters away, but I was happy to be back to the room safe. and having said that, I actually know the Sta.Cruz / Recto - area quite well. Difficult to get a cab in this area too. overall, for the money it was quite okay, and the big Pool is a pleasant surprise. despite the MRT and LRT stations nearby, the location is not convenient for the average tourist. would consider to stay there again if my other favorites are fully booked, because the value for money is good, particularly with BF and Wifi included.
Very nice and cozy”
I decided to stay in this hotel for the following reasons: 1) This hotel is not too far from the University of Santo Tomas, where I took my exams 2) Not too expensive. I got a Premier Room -No Window (with Breakfast-buffet) for only 1,700+ (Agoda promo [regular rate is 2,200]). 3) Near to Divisoria where you can shop for cheap goods like clothes, accessories and shoes. 4) It takes only 15 to 20 minutes from the airport if you will take a cab. 5) It is nearby the Doroteo Jose LRT station and other significant places in Manila (like Intramuros, National Museum, Luneta Park, Quiapo church and etc.). 6) It has a swimming pool though it's not really big. They have a sauna where you can relax after swimming. The Location is really accessible. Though, you just have to be careful when you go outside of the hotel because the area is quite dangerous at night. The hotel staff are really warm and friendly. One of their male staff even helped me bring my baggages and accompanied me to the room (He is cute. LOL). They change the linens and clean the room everyday. This place is really awesome for people like me who are on a shoestring budget. P.S. They will ask you a deposit of 1,000 even though you have paid via credit card. Don't freak out. This is a safety deposit and they will return it to you upon checking out. LOL. ;) Room Tip: Just dress down and keep your gadgets. The streets are crowded and snatchers are everywhere.
