Great location and value for money”

We booked for Hotel Manila, but actually we got room @Dhillon Hotel...it's ok coz they're managed in the same group. We stayed there 5 days/4 nights ... The hotel location is sooo great. it's on the 17th Floor of Chungking Mansion. You just need to take bus no A21 & pay HKD 33 from HKIA & get down right in front of the Mansion ...It's so close to Tsim Tsa Tsui/East TST station; Star Ferry Terminal, Garden of Stars (Bruce Lee Statue), Kowloon Park and also to Hongkong-China Ferry Terminal ...so great location ... The room is small but comfy enough for couple ...It's already completed with amenities: liquid bath soap& shampoo, except towel...(luckily we brought our own towel)...There are mini refrigerator, private deposit box, fan and so cool AC inside, unfortunately the LCD doesn't work ... the free wifi in the hotel is so good connection, there are also water dispencer with free water, coffee and sugar ...And the hot water machine worked so well in the bathroom The atmosphere inside the hotel room is so quiet and comfy ... The hotel staff, Johny, is so nice and helpful ...he daily cleaned our room even offered us to change the bedsheet before we asked him ...tq Johny... The hotel reception, the woman, informed us about the extra 15% service charge and HKD 100 for deposit that we had to pay @check in time ...(when we checked out we got back our deposit money) Anyway ...we felt little uncomfy with the condition of the stairs to go up and down the 17th Foor and the 'small' lift which is often full most of the time so it takes quite long time of waiting ...I think the building management should give more concerned about it .... Overall ...we were happy staying in this hotel and recommend to those who are looking for a great location but value for money hotel ....

chaotic ground fl but good clean rooms ”

clean room (enough for waht you pay), friendly staff, safe, near avenue of stars

Well the rooms are fine and clean. But one thing I cant understand is that why do we have to go to block A 17th fl just to chekin and then go to block D 10th fl where in fact the manila hotel rooms are in block D. I think that should be change because they only have limited elevators. 2 per block and EACH blocks (block A B C D)..mind you...EACH blocks has more than 17 floors with many rooms. So if you could imagine when you arrive in the chungking mansion you may think you're in the wrong place...theres a lot of people around, many are falling in line because the elevator can only accommodate 5 to 6 persons. I think they should change this system or have another reception area so that others will not go to 17th Fl. When it comes to staff, they are all friendly and helpful. all in all staffs are good esp gary, dave, the girl from India(im not sure if she's really from india) and the other guy. They have clean rooms and CR. If its your first time and you are with elderly and children or with relatives/friends who are somewhat like fussy or hard to please...pls find other hotel or find an expensive one...For those who doesn't care about the surroundings (because its like an old building, its scary if you use the stairs but its safe) or on a tight budget you can go to Manila Hotel and maybe the other hotels in chungking.

+ Near to MTR and bus station. Within 5 mins walk to nearest MTR station Tsim Sha Tsui and bus stop Nathan Road. My room has a small fridge and private bathroom. There is hot water provided for guest at the pantry. The wifi was also provided to the guest. - At first we were shock looking at the space of the room. The room was very small, not as per advertised when we booked the room. And we did not realised there was 15% charge additional fees upon arrival as it is deemed for cleaning fees and replacing our towel. We didn't get the towel for two night out of 5 night we were there. And the tv provided in the room was not functioning, they were saying the antenna is in the process for repairing. Plus there was no iron provided in the hotel, not even shared iron.

Tourists on a budget”

Value for money, friendly staff, along Nathan Road

First, Chungking Mansion is along nathan Road which is accessible. The elevator can only accommodate 7 people which is quite challenging. Good thing that there is another elevator accessible from the 10th floor which is less crowded. Got friendly stff and Ms Sherie was particularly helpful with us in giving directions to sights we plan to visit. Rooms were small but was not an issue at all as most of the time we would be outside touring. We just needed a place to keep our stuff, shower and sleep. The only particular issue we had were the shower doors as they were a bit translucent so people in the room can see the silhouette of the person using the shower. Everyday rooms were cleaned and fresh towels were provided. For tourists who just needs a place to sleep and place their stuff while they tour and has great staff that is accommadting, try Manila Hotel.

the hotel is safe because everyone who wants to enter the hotel must press the password then only u can get in. my room is near to the reception therefore it is easy contact the person in charge. the room is small as hong kong budget hotel is like this. if you want to use water heater, my suggestion is u on the heater swith hald and hour before u bath. if not u will be experience that the water sometimes may be cold and sometimes hot. the internet speed is fast. they did not provide drinking water as they only have hot water to let customer eat maggie cup.

An almost nightmare turned better”

I was in doubt at first to pay in full via agoda for the hotel stay after reading a few negative feedback and not to like what you booked. I have booked a single bed room for 5 days/4nights. As expected, they don't have my room booked available. They said sorry. I thought thats it. Good thing they have recommended if i want to transfer to a different hotel name. I said i don't have a choice, its already paid snd i need a room. The guy showed me the way to the penthouse. Walk way at stairway was smelly and untidy. When he showed me the room, i was surprised. Its 2-3x as much from what I've booked. Enough fit 4 pax he said. He's not saying it but I've got an upgrade. He said sorry again, and this is the only room left. I smiled snd said ok. The room was great, big windows, big beds, clean shower/toilet. I think the room is newly renovated. Everything is great except for the microwave oven from the common area. Its not clean and it would smell every time someone will use it. Overall, stay was great. The staffs are helpful in providing directions where to go.

Good”

I booked this hotel because I did not want to go to a separate floor if I have queries. Unfortunately, they booked us in a different hotel saying it is still the same since there is one owner. The thing is I did booked for Dhillon Hotel but for Manila. The good thing about it is this block has no queue in the elevator, room was cleaned daily though they did not gave us new roll of tissue and forgot to throw our bin. Johnny was helpful and easy to talk to. Location was also good though I wish we could have stayed in Mongkok that's just me but a lot of people choose to stay here. Plenty of shops for water and money changer. You can also eat filipino and indian food. Near MTR and bus stop They need to respect what the customer wanted to book and not to insist we stay in dhillon even if we did not booked it. No towels so bring one unless you are willing to pay 20hkd. You can also buy travel adaptor at the store in the ground floor at 15hkd. Overall good place to stay for sleeping

Best Value”

Clean, Cheap, Location

As far as Hostels go, this is a 5 star. The private rooms are very affordable for it's central location, near LOADS of shopping and trains to take you everywhere else. The rooms are clean, there's controllable air conditioning in each room, good free wifi, I think you can get a fridge if you get one of the more expensive rooms, it's quiet, each section is locked by hallway doors so there seems to be great security as well. Great way to save money. Manilla is located in Cheung King Mansions, there are Hawkers out front (not aggressive) that can help you find the correct elevator -- after walking in the main mall entrance it's your first right, then first left and then the first elevator on the right, 10th floor (so the elevator on the left), walk right when you exit the elevator, press the buzzer on the glass door and they'll unlock it so you can open and check-in. The bed is 6' long, you'll be sleeping diagonal if you're tall since the end of the bed often butts up against a wall. Great value, but it's a hostel, so they have been very efficient with space, the single rooms and ensuite bathroom are ~100sqft. The toilet and sink are in the shower (the bathroom is one large shower but it works just fine).

WOW. When they say SMALL - its TINY!!! But clean!”

Location, Food and access to room

It was the smallest hotel room I have EVER had. Probably one of my closets was bigger. I had to put my luggage under the bed and there was little room to even manage things. No closets. Bathroom was very narrow. However, it was clean, safe and GREAT LOCATION. Lots of places in the building for eating and central to the MTR. Overall, I would just choose a larger room in this complex. But I am satisfied with the choice I made.

Good Value”

Staff, location, and comfort for the area

My stay was pleasant for the most part. Most people only want to know the negatives so here they go. We were given a room next to the entrance door on the first day and the guests were loud coming in and out and that same room had no window. What disappointed me the most was my sheets did not look like they were cleaned the first night and that was disgusting for me. I seen alot of hair on the blanket. I asked someone to change it and they did it right away. I wondered why would you do that I was so nice and that is a huge sanitary use for obvious reasons. After that incident I asked to be moved to another room and they did with no problem. The guy at the front desk works very hard (other than changing my sheets LOl) and he was very nice and helpful to us. Overall I WOULD GO BACK just make sure your sheets are clean. I don't think that would be a problem anymore because they got a new washing machine I noticed.
