Great location, nice budget stay
The best thing about this hotel, in my opinion, is the location. Conveniently situated between The Old City and The Night Bazaar, both are in walking distance. There's a 7/11 (corner shop/convenience store) and an ATM right outside, as well as several restaurants and a Starbucks-type cafe. There is very little to no street noise at night, and in the daytime the road cannnot be heard from the rooms. There are always songthaews available (the cheapest way to travel) in the daytime from the front entrance. The main lobby and spa area are very nice -there are also rooms in the same building which I assume are just as nice, although I didn't stay there. A lot of rooms are situated either side of the main building, and are on top of commercial spaces (not owned by the hotel) including a nail and massage parlour and a tour booking office. We stayed in a deluxe rooom. Although it was a little out-dated, it was rather spacious and very clean. It was more like a one bed flat (apartment) than a rooom with its own little living area! The Oriental style furnishings and decor were very cute, and everything worked just fine. There was, however, a slight smell of damp in the room. The bathroom was pretty much a wetroom -typical for this part of the world. There were also no lifts in the outside buildings, although staff are very helpful and carried our things for us. Breakfast was pretty average, nothing really to say ...perhaps slightly short of choices. The pool was nice and kept very clean by staff. I saw lots of cleaning staff everywhere -the only spaces that I thought were a little unkempt were the corridors for the rooms outside the main building. Everywhere else was great in that respect. This is not a glamorous hotel, but also makes no claims to be. I assume most people come to Chiangmai for the sights and not to spend days in a hotel, and this was perfect for that ...perfectly nice pool and spa area for the odd bit of relaxation. A great budget stay. With some updatin

FIRST AND LAST TIME
As a regular visitor to Chiang-Mai I decided to try this hotel and was extremely dissapointed. The photos on the web looked great but what we received was totally different. We were sent to the older separate building of the hotel- no lift and extremely old and run down. The TV was so small you had to sit on top of it to see it and the channel selection was 98% Thai. The staff were fine, however-I will never go back.

Convenient location, close to night bazar
Conveniently located between downtown and night bazar, Maninarakorn hotel is a nice hotel with spacious bed rooms. I stay in the residence, and the room I booked actually had two rooms, one living space with sofa and TV and one bed room with a double bed. I had a meeting at Imperial Mae Ping Hotel, which is in 5 min walk distance. In the night, I enjoyed myself visiting the night bazar, which is also in 10 min walk distance.

No elevator for residence
No elevator for residence. Better stay in the hotel if traveling with elderly. Room is spacious but dark. The staff did not advise us that we are not to take out or throw the empty water bottles. We were charged extra because of that. Minibar is complementary though. When we first arrive, the staff at front desk are not friendly.

Not as good as it used to be or could be
We stayed here 4 years ago, don't think we would stay again. Rooms look tired and need a freshen up. Customer service at reception is pretty ordinary. I emailed for, pricing a day before booking on Agoda, I am still waiting for a reply. Reception staff just don't look happy, especially if you ask a question. Checkin was almost like pulling teeth, we weren't given wifi password, went down later after the one on the wall the bellboy pointed out to us didn't work. Was looked at as if I had asked her to walk over hot coals. Was handed a piece of paper with a totally different user name and password. I got it to work went to add my husbands iPad to realise it was only for one device, we figured it out and added a number. Something we could have been given info at reception for... When leaving no thank you for staying or anything, asked for a taxi was told to walk out to the street and get a baht bus. Locations is great, having stayed here previously and loving it, we were very disappointed. I'm almost glad my sister couldn't get a room here at my recommendation a few months ago. Breakfast and maintenance staff were friendly.
