Pool is a lifesaver”

Low travel season, easy to extend a few nights. Pool is nice addition. Cafe serves three meals a day. They’ll fill up your water bottle for a small fee — still cheaper and more environmentally friendly than buying a water bottle. Small AEON market just down the street and plenty of tuk tuks outside. They offer a $26 tuk tuk tour that can be split among 4 people to the Genocide museum and the Killing Fields. They have a no-shoes policy inside the building. Most people respect this, but occasionally, you get some “bro” who just doesn’t care and walks everywhere. To be fair, there are quite a few people who wear their sandals inside and and outside, so the floor probably isn’t actually super clean. Bar stays open till 11 p.m. It’s not super noisy. (I’m a pretty light sleeper, but I still managed to fall asleep each night with a little bit of Melatonin.) The street outside the hostel is fairly quiet. There is no laundry on site, so you have to walk about 5 minutes.

Rooms are basic, water bottle refill offered at small cost. Whole pool area could use a good wipe down as it’s a little dusty from construction next door. The pool & cafe are very nice and lounge areas are great for meeting people and hanging out. Nice to have a pool for hot sun and location is close to bar area without the night noise.

Good”

After reading reviews in the internet we were suprised with the quality of the hostel. Room described as 20m2 was very small, we cannot even fully open the doors. The only window in the room is extremly small and is situated extremly high, so there is no natural light in the room at all. There are NO DOORS TO THE TOILET, so if anyone use it, you cannot enter the room. It is definitely not 3 stars quality, we slept in better conditions in 2 stars hostels. I definitely wouldn't recommend the hostel to anyone, at least not in this price (24$ per night).

A quiet oasis in an excellent location”

Basic but clean rooms, friendly helpful staff and excellent pool

We were picked up from the airport in Phnom Penh, must to our surprise but delight, and taken to the Manor House. David, an ex-pat Aussie who owns the Manor House, along with his staff, made us feel as if we were guests at his house rather than at a hotel - a quality you rarely experience these days other than at a B&B. The rooms were fairly basic but more than adequate and clean with air-con, a fan and tea/coffee facilities. Although we had a room right beside the pool, we were never disturbed by any noise. Our bar fridge was not working but was immediately swapped for another and bottled water was provided free each day. The location is excellent, being in an area of several Embassies and Consulates, however there are sharp contrasts in living standards from the wealthy to the poorest of poor all within the vicinity. We walked and walked on arrival to get our bearings in this busy metropolis with the Independence Monument being the best landmark. There are several wide boulevards with a daunting number of motor-bikes, scooters and cars that seem to go in every direction, even in the opposing direction in the one road lane but for those not wishing to walk, there are always tuk-tuks outside the Manor House and you can get a driver for the day for around US$15 and he will take you wherever you wish and wait for you to take you to your next stop. Breakfast was included with our stay and you dined by the pool. There was a selection of cereals, fresh fruit, toast with butter, jam and even Vegemite for Aussies, and you could order eggs any style with bacon etc. Nothing flash but more than adequate and making for a good start to the day. This accommodation best serves singles or childless couples. A comfortable, friendly stay.

A tranquil oasis in a bustling and exciting city.”

Wonderful staff, comfortable premises and laid back atmosphere.

I had a wonderful stay at this very comfortable three star guest house. So much so, that I extended my stay until it was time for me to leave Phnom Penh. If I could, I'd still be there today, lounging by the pool! The atmosphere is warm and laid back. The most prominent factor is the always kind and very helpful local staff who speak a decent level of English, and of course Nick, the Australian owner. The house, rooms and garden with the pool are nicely designed and offer comfort with no fuss or gimmick. The house is in the "posh" part of town and used to house the staff of the Japanese embassy. All is nice and clean, and well maintained. My room and bathroom were a good size, and the bed was comfortable. There are 70 channels on TV, including western ones like BBC News, CNN, Fox Movies. The breakfast served is simple, but tasty. There's yoghurt, bread, muesli, fresh fruit, brewed coffee, tea etc. In addition you can have a cooked breakfast made to your preference. There are plenty of places to eat nearby that are well within a comfortable 5-10 minutes walk. Probably more than twenty restaurants and bars, but you'll have to cross a busy crossroads to get to many of them. There are always Tuk-tuks available outside the premises that can take you to the Mekong River and the most festive part of town within a few minutes. I stay at guest houses and hotels often, but I'm rarely impressed like I've been at this lovely guest house. The Manor House is a tranquil oasis in a bustling and exciting city. I'll be back.

Very, Very, Very comfortable and spacious room!”

Very peaceful and lovely environment, nice swimming pool next to the bar, spacious room, helpful and friendly staffs, free wifi

Manor House is definitely not just a house. The staffs are friendly. Sokun the manager, Meisha the taxi driver, Samat the tuk tuk driver, and everyone else are very helpful giving suggestions on planning my trip and telling me about the places. My flight was early in the morning. It was around 9 when I arrived the hotel. Sokun helped me with the check-in while I was offered with free breakfast (shouldn't be included for the day I checked in) next to the legendary swimming pool! They have sofas in the balcony upstairs. It was the Water Festival when I was there. On one evening when I heard the Fireworks from the RiverFront, I ran out to the balcony, joining other tenants from different countries watching fireworks and chit chatting. If I or any of my friends is going Phnom Penh again, I would definitely recommend Manor House!

Perfection in a relaxed setting”

There are a lot of great things about Manor but my top 3 would be the amazing staff; the clean spacious rooms and the perfect location

I couldn't fault my stay at Manor House. Knowing it was rated 3 Star I was prepared for compromise, but was pleasantly surprised to find it exceeded the mark on every level. Firstly Nick and all of his staff are so friendly that you feel like you are staying with old friends. Throughout my stay they were all very flexible and helpful. Secondly, the place itself is great. The rooms are nice and spacious and there are lots of communal areas where you can sit and relax. The pool is just perfect and right beside the breakfast area, so do yourself a favour and grab a swim before or after breakfast. Thirdly, Manor House is very safe and secure. There is a guard at nighttimes and 24 hour reception. There are always tuk tuks waiting outside the gate as well - and these guys are very fair in pricing. Lastly I found the location excellent as it was in the centre of everything. There are quite a few restaurants within a short walk, or it is only a cheap tuk tuk ride up to the tourist strip on Sisowath Quay. The location also meant that at night it is very quiet, so you could sleep with the windows wide open (both security grills and screens are in place) and the ceiling fan on - rather than have to live in air-con All in all if I found myself back in Phonm Penh tomorrow Manor House would be my first stop

Comfortable hotel, secure, good value for money”

Location, small size, comfort, swimming pool, friendly atmosphere

Manor House is a small boutique hotel created from a private villa in the heart of Phnom Penh. Major features include the quiet but central location, the swimming pool (which has a pleasant "tropical garden" feel), and the quiet helpfulness of the staff and owner. The hotel is also gay-friendly, but this shouldn't stop non-gays from considering it. A basic breakfast is offered from 9 to 11, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby for other meals (none really within walking distance - Phnom Penh isn't a pedestrian-friendly city). Free WiFi with a good speed in all rooms and the pool area.

I sat and chatted with a few of the local staff members at several points during my stay, and had lovely conversations about nearby attractions and things to do. The power went out briefly (this IS Phnom Penh!) but the problem was reconciled very quickly. I wish they had had better toiletries in the bathroom, but that's not really something to complain about. Overall, this was a perfect place for my visit.
