The best hotel in Banyuwangi”
We had tried some hotels in Banyuwangi, but Manyar Garden Hotel is definitely the best hotel in this area. The staff is kind and helpful. We can rent a boat to West Bali beach to enjoy a wonderful moment and we even had our private lunch in the white sandy beach where nobody but us is around. The hotel has a large garden area, and we can listen to sound of birds at anytime during the day. The hotel also has a good nightlife to be enjoyed, we went to La Gallus bar and discotheque. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable. The environment is also safe and we can comfortably park our car in front of our room. The breakfast and the food here tasted great and relatively cheap, so we never eat outside the hotel. We will surely stay in Manyar Garden Hotel again when we go to Banyuwangi.

Centrally located value hotel in Banyuwangi”
Check in efficient. The room was fairly clean and large. Hotel has a large garden, and the atmosphere is calm. Breakfast was good, and the staff attentive. Suprisingly good value hotel, altough the hotel is a bit old. Centrally located in the city of Banyuwangi, only a few minutes driving from the train station or the port that has connections to the island of Bali.

We spent a night here before leaving for Bali by ferry the next morning. It is an old hotel, looked small, but very large inside. We stayed in junior suite, very close to the restaurant. The room is very spacious with LCD, electric jug, and old refrigerator (but works perfectly!) You can park your car right in front of your room. Check in/out is very easy.

simple, old, i had lots of ants in my bathtoom”
i moved to manyar garden hotel for one night as i needed to extend my stay in banyuwangi and the hotel i stayed in was fully booked. athough the reviews were not super positive i thought that it would do for one night. the rooms were old but the bed ok. however there were a lot of ants in the bathroom / shower and some ants also in the room. the pool was a nice place to relax: it was not used by anyone else and clean. wifi is only available in the restaurant. the staff was friendly but did not speak much english. if you need a safety box, they have little boxes at the reception.

Basic and a noisy disco”
typical of the low budget hotels of java - strange bathroom - no hot water; but it did have air con. unfortunately the hotel has a disco most nights - very noisy until 3am. we were in a room too close and it kept us awake most of the night. the second night we moved further away and slept better. most of the rooms are set well back from the main road - so unlike a lot of hotels the problem of traffic noise (usual from six am to 2am in most towns)didn't arise. restaurant is a bit hit-and-miss (raw steak served one evening when rare was asked for.) front desk very helpful with transportation enquiries. i asked if they did laundry and got some done: well and cheaply.

Open chalet style with lots of green, Friendly hotel staff as I can even check in when I arrive at 5am. although hotel is a bit old, the air con, lighting, hot shower are working, even it is limited to 3 person's shower. Value for money as breakfast is included. Hotel is 20min walk to Ketapang Ferry terminal & railway stataion

If it wasn't so cheap, it would be awful!”
Absolutely average. Really cheap so can't complain too strongly. The room was tired and poorly decorated, there was no hot water, there was a cigarette burn in the bedsheet and the TV was older than my grandfather. In the absence of wifi in the rooms, we went to the restaurant more than once in the day. The staff became increasingly indifferent to our presence, despite there only being us and one or two others staying on the large complex. This was rather frustrating. It all felt very odd , the gardens were not very well kept but the pool was lovely. For some reason, though, there were no sunbeds! I can only presume it was out of season , but why not just close for a while?? Can't knock the location , perfect if you're coming from/going to the Bali ferry and can't face another long trip either side. Banyuwangi/Ketapang are not tourist destinations and i would only recommend if awaiting a transfer bus/train OR doing the Ijen Crater trip (which i strongly recommend , one of the true highlights of Indonesia). Better to laugh than cry , it cost virtually nothing so can not be too harshly critical. But i wouldn't suggest a family stay for a fortnight!!

They were eight of us occupying 2 Juniors, 2 deluxe and 2 moderates. Comfortable beds but bathrooms needs improvements. However for the price we paid, we were satisfied with the hotel.

Easy to move around and quite place”
The hotel is close to main road and easy to move around for food (local restaurants) and small shopping marts (for daily consumables). The room rate is reasonable. Quite and peaceful surrounding. Shortcomings are very slow and unreliable internet signal (you have to stay close to the restaurant or else to move your PC to restaurant); and a lot of mosquito in open space, including within the restaurant. Food inside restaurant has limited menu

Hotel is a bit old, nevertheless the chalet style layout provided lots of room & greens. A good size swimming pool. Breakfast is included , simple & good. Aircon, room lighting, toilet are working. Staff is friendly, I can check in even I arrive at 5am . 15 mins walk to Ketapang ferry terminal & railway station

very solid choice, not much to complain about. very clean, spacious room, all basic amenities. within walking distance of ferry terminal. not much info about transport or tours from reception, though (go to the info office at the ferry terminal instead). still, basically excellent.

this hotel is very close from the main bus station, and the Ferry terminal. You could just easily reach Bali from this point. Really enjoyfull as long as you are not in a rush.

Sad place in the middle of nowhere”
This hotel is really only good for stopping off on an Ijen trip, or for catching the early morning Mutiara Timur train the next morning. One night however is more than enough so make sure that they drop ypu off elsewhere when you finish the Ijen excursion. When I booked the room there was only one room available so I logically believed the hotel would be full, the reality was that there were probably only about three other rooms occupied, making the place even more desolate. One of the male receptionists is also out to make a quick buck from unsuspecting tourists. We called from Bali to see if he could organize Ijen transport and, sensing we might be desperate or naive or both, he quoted us a ridiculous price. He did the same again when we asked if the hotel could exchange money for us. One other thing about the hotel is that they do not clean the rooms, in fact there never seems to be anybody around except gardeners...the gardens are in fact very well kept but the rooms are gloomy, unclean and in my case, the drains from the bathroom were a bit smelly.
