I loved this place the location is a dream retreat with a great swimming pool and sweeping views towards the sea . The staff are very professional and friendly too and my special praise must go to the young Lady in the kitchen who cooks the most amazing curry .. I would highly recommend this place.
The staff here is superb! They continually assured we were enjoying our stay and the facility.”
Beautiful resort and a staff to match. We loved everything about our stay. It is a little effort to reach the resort as they are building a paved road. It is worth it when you arrive and see the view.
Amazing food in a peaceful idyllic location”
Robin, the owner runs this place to be the best it can be rather than the most profitable and this shows through he efforts of his staff. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is exceptional and we chewed out way through most of the desert menu on our stay. The prices are reasonable and essentially you are paying three star prices for five star food. The Thai Green curry is a delight. You have a great view of the sunset in a morning and the whole outlook from the infinity pool out to see is breathtaking. We stayed in a cottage and the design is authentic though very spacious. I'd highly recommend for the food alone, never mind the escapism bad peace this location offers. Ideal for us as a base as we stayed in Baclayan for 3 days including a full day trip of Bohol including Chocolate Hills. The owner has big plans for the place and is extending in the coming months to incorporate a bar and restaurant area with more for kids too and to extend the already excellent did offerings. We had a great stay here. I'm sure you would too!
Hard to get to but worth it”
We didn’t expect it would be so hard to get to that we had to go through many really steep hills but the view is breath taking. Recommend to take the shuttle. Much easier and safer if you are here for the first time. The staffs are really friendly and we enjoyed our stay. :)
Firstly, we got a free upgrade so that was a very welcome surprise. Spent our anniversary and they surprise us with banner in reception area and super romantic dinner and lovely setup in our room. Place was really neat and cozy. Food is superb. Mr. Robin Hewings “owner” Ms. Elizabeth “Manager” and kenneth “evening wait staff” was so amazing right on-point and very knowledgeable. We will definitely recommend it to our family and friends and definitely come back soon 😍 Thank you so much, you guys made our 4th anniversary so special 😊
Amazing stay, thank you!”
The pictures don't do it justice at all! (Usually it's the other way round ;) Amazing pool with view of the jungle, mountains and sea. All is very well kept and clean. Lovely soft beds, pleasant interior, friendly staff and caring owner. Beautiful plants and flowers everywhere and extremely photogenjc place!
Sorry if you miss the staying 😌”
I felt so happy to decide to stay one night! I first stepped on the pool and its sunset view strikes me crazily! I’ve never seen such beautiful sights before😱😱 the pool is so clean, comfortable to swim while sunset soaks you into the view of mountain 🏔 and sea 🌊 anyway, the chef, kitchen, is so professional! He knows the tastes of his guests and the food is very brilliant! I had my own a big dinner 🥘 and desert and drink! Everything is reasonable! 🥰🥰 STRONGLY RECOMMEND FOR ALL KINDS OF GUESTS!
This is a hidden gem. Yes, it's hard to drive that road up (very steep) but the view from their garden and pool is mesmerizing. Something really special in Bohol. The room was good, too. Their breakfast was a bit overpriced though
A Wonderful Retreat Place”
This property is situated on top of a hill. If you book the 3 bedroom family cottage (which we did), you will get the cottage that is at the very bottom of the property. While it still has a glorious view, the family cottage is not well maintained. The master’s is the most maintained among the 3 rooms. One of the room is quite dark; it has serious lack of lighting. Some of the fixtures of the bathroom is falling apart. The shower head is spewing water at weird places and the towel holder has partly fallen of the wall. If you are iffy about insects, then this cottage is not for you. The dining area, which is quite near the bathroom has swarms of black ants and at night flying insects are attracted to the light. It would be best if they put a screen to enclose the place a bit. Having said that, while there, you can really drift away from the busy world. They have a nice infinity pool overlooking the sunset. Food there tasted great! The staff is very friendly and accommodating too.
Excellent stay with a great view.”
If you like to have a few days in a quiet place away from the beach, we can really recommend Marqis. Unique rooms and the owner has big plans to make it even better. New swimming pool, more rooms, kids place, and even horses. The owner really liked food and cooking and the food we had was very good.
Amazing stay ! ”
The value of money is incredible ! the pool is clean and very beautiful. the possibility of rent a motorbike for cheap price make our stay in Bohol more easy. And the food is so tasty! It's a big yes. 2 frenchies.
Best view of Sunset!”
Had a great private "villa" up on the hill that afforded an amazing view of the island. Staff helped us organize rental scooters from a vendor very close by. Infinity pool is a pleasure to soak in and watch the sunset whilst sipping on the best banana daiquiris in the islands. Relatively new owners are great to talk to and are doing a LOT of improvements to the property. Looking forward to visiting again!
Amazing Overlooking view Resort”
One of the best resorts i’ve visited. such a wonderful overlooking view. perfect to watch sunset. i want to come back soon. Thank you marquiz for the warm welcome and the staff specially to Sir Robin.
Everything was perfect from food, facilities, room and service. The staff is super accommodating. The food is delicious! The view is breathtaking. The owner even went to our room to check how we are and told us just let then know in case we need anything. They also have transportation available for rent in case the guests would need one.
View amazing, tranquility amazing, staff very friendly ”
Met by the owner, given a tour around and a free whisky. Can’t ask for anything more. Food good, staff very friendly and conscientious. Would highly recommend for something away from the hustle and bustle of beach accommodation. 5 stars all round.
A cool and relaxing place bound by Nature.. ”
Such a great view.. The place itself is a good therapy for someone so exhausted in the urban world. Any way, i got to stay in a 2 different accommodations. The 1st night is cheaper because its just a Kubo with a room but with such a big bathroom. It was a simple Nipa hut ans so native but with a Tv set inside and a lovely bed with a mosquito net. Well that seems to be the problem with the place because they have big mosquitos and many more insects flying in the kubo.. but then we able to manage it with mosquito net. Then next is the standard cottage which is located at the upper part of the hill but with other cottages from side to side as well. This one is really nice since its bigger with aircon and veranda which has a very great view towards the sea and the down below. It seems that your just above everything.. quiet and peaceful with a relaxing view and fantastic infinity pool from the restaurant. Another magnificent thing on this place is the scene of a very beautiful sunset .
Amazing location with incredible view”
Was a great stay!
Great Peaceful Stay”
We had a great stay in our bungalow. Very quiet and away from the traffic and crowds. Nice pool overlooking the ocean high in the hills. If you want to be close to tours and tourist spots probably not for you but we wanted a relaxing stay after a very long travel schedule to Philippines. Great start to our trip and great value.
Great but with a caveat”
I decided to stay in this hotel because I wanted a place for me and my partner to get away from it all and have some 'us' time. For the amount of money I spent the value is amazing. The views from our cottage were outstanding. I loved the staff and the food was home cooked and fresh at reasonable prices. The infinity pool was great fun to swim in. But there is a caveat and its a big one. The location is very inconvenient. It takes awhile for a cab to get there and you'll spend at least P500 to get into the city to buy anything. I can only imagine what it would be like traveling on that dirt road when its raining. Also a big deal breaker for me was the lack of wifi in the room. I guess I'm a millineal and the internet is a must for me especially since I needed it to plan the next phase of our trip. So walking up and down hill just to get to the small area of wifi was inconvenient. So this hotel is perfect for someone just looking to get away from it all, have excellent views, and not too expensive but if you're looking for modern amenities such as the internet or ease of access to the city I recommend staying elsewhere.
Great service at Marquis!”
My friends and i stayed 3 nights at Marquis Sunrise Sunset. We have no lack of praise for Sunny, who manages the hotel and also doubled as our driver for a couple of our day tours. He has a lot of consideration for the privacy and enjoyment of his guests, is a skilled and careful driver, and also makes good recommendations regarding activities. The menu at the hotel is a bit limited but the cooking is good. Location wise, it is not the most convenient place to get in and out of but provides a nice quiet retreat after a day out. i reckon it would be nice to lounge around the place/pool too but we didn't have time to do it on this trip. The air con in our room wasn't very cool, although the staff didn't get a chance to rectify that since we made do and didn't raise an issue. Overall, we had a good stay and would recommend this hotel.
