Fukuoka, Sunroute Hotel Hakata”

Easy walking distance from Hakata Train Station, Very friendly English speaking staff, Clean rooms.
None

Arriving at Fukuoka Airport for the very first time, my wife and I caught the subway train below the domestic terminal for a 5 min ride to Hakata Central Train Station, the fare is only 250 yen. We emerged from the subway onto the ground floor of Hakata Station where we were directed to the East Gate (Higashi exit)which is directly at the top of the subway entrance staircase. Upon asking for directions from several Japanese people in broken English/Japanese we were mistakenly directed to the Sunlight Hotel directly across the street and the staff there re-directed us back across the street and one block down to the Sunroute Hotel. So, when you exit the East (Higasshi) Gate turn left and walk pass the Hotel Centraza and turn left at the street corner and walk 3 doors down to the entrance of the Sunroute Hotel. The lobby is very bright and clean with a very friendly staff to greet you. We arrived late at night,11:00pm, so it is advisable to let the hotel know your itinerary when booking so they can hold the room for you. We travelled around Kyushu for a week and booked our first and last nights at the Sunroute. They were nice enough to hold our extra bags over the weekend as we travel to Nagasaki before returning for a final night in Fukuoka before boarding our flight home. The hotel rate is very reasonable and cheaper than the more expensive hotels in the area. It's good to travel light to avoid dragging extra baggage up and down the always present train station staircases where elevators are not always available. Most hotels in Japan can sent your extra baggage ahead to your next hotel for a small fee so you can travel around and not have to drag all your luggage with you.

Affordable overnighter”

Good location near Hakata Train Station, easy walking distance. Freindly, English speaking staff.
none

Our second stay here in a week as my wife and I travelled around Kyushu for a week. We booked our first and last nights here for its location close to Hakata Train Station which made for an easy transfer to the subway and Fukuoka Airport. Staff was very friendly and held our extra baggage prior to check in for a couple of days as we traveled to Nagasaki for the weekend.

We stayed two nights at the hotel on our trip to Fukuoka. The hotel is conveniently located in walking distance (1min) to the Hakata station. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was very small barely any place to open the luggage.

Great hotel, convenient location”

CLean, location
Room size

The hotel is very close to Hakata station in Fukuoka. The name of it is not displayed very prominently so you may have to walk along peering at a few hotels until you spot it. The hotel is very handy for the subway and jr trains, however the main area for drinking and eating is a few stops away on the subway. It is about 1500 yen if you miss the last subway and need to take a taxi. The hotel rooms are very clean but are very small. The bed is a semi double - which means not really a double, more like a single and a half. There is very little space around the bed for luggage or movement. The room had a kettle and bathroom products. It also had a heated loo seat! We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the food. There are internet terminals in the reecption area but they are quite expensive to use at 100 yen for 10 minutes. Overall I would say that this hotel is very nice and a good choice if you want to be close to the rtain station.

Hotel Sunroute Hakata”

The hotel's best features are its location and the bathroom facilities.
The hotel's worst feature was the room's lack of a view.

The hotel's best feature is its location--Hakata Station is a minute's walk away, which was great because we took the train to Nagasaki, and after a long day there of sightseeing and then the return train trip, it was nice to have only a minute's walk back to the hotel. Next door to the hotel is a sushi restaurant where we had dinner each of the two nights. As well, Canal City is only a 15-minute walk away, as are the yatai food stalls along the canal. My Korean apartment has only a shower, so it was a treat to be able to soak in a bathtub...and the bidet toilet was a nice feature. While we knew ahead of time that the room would be small, we were disappointed that the sole window looked onto the side of a building. However it would not deter us from using this hotel again.

Exceptionally comfortable and clean hotel”

Location is handy for public transport; nice rooms, friendly staff
Quite far away from nightlife and shops

The Sunroute Hakata hotel is right next to the station, so well located for those staying in the city for just a night or two. The rooms are clean and comfortable and standard size for Japan (smaller than western travellers will be used to). There's a coin internet machine in the lobby but all the TV channels are in Japanese only.

Hotel Sunroute Hakata”

excellent staff, very clean room, very near hakata railway station
room is rather small

the stay is very comnfortable although i find the room a tad too small for my liking. However, this shortcoming will be quickly forgotten when you realise the hotel's proximity to hakata railway station and the excellent service rendered by the hotel staff. i recalled trying to mail postcards and was enquiring about postage cost. the staff on duty brought me to a nearby postal agent personally and make the enquiry on my behalf, as i do not speak japanese.

Small rooms

The hotel was close to Hakata Station which made it easier to carry my luggage. The only problem I had with the hotel was the small size of the rooms. However, Hakata and Fukuoka were very beautiful with many interesting places to visit. Among these are Hakata Port, Fukuoka Museum of Art and History and the Japanese Garden and lakeside park. Fukuoka Castle is also neat to see.

I like the location of this hotel. It's just 3 minutes from the main subway station Hakata. Easy access to Shinkansen as well. From airport it takes about 15 minutes by taxi or about 10 minutes by train. The food court is just few step from your hotel. The Hotel is clean, warm staff and some of them speak english. Very close to Hakata JR Station Very convenient for transportation within and outside city Close to variety of good restaurants Tarrif affordable
Some of the facilities not working Rooms very congested Hotel restaurant not all that good May be a conventional Iron in a centralized location will be of help. Trousers ironing board of course is available There are two hotels with similar sounding names. Sometimes, it becomes difficult to explain to the Taxi

A purely business hotel, located within walking distance of Hakata JR Station. For those who have to avail JR train, it is a very convenient location. Place is very well connected by bus and subway with other parts of Fukuoka. There are a variety of restaurants within Hakata station and also a good size market. Hotel can of course do with some changes, like if TV can be wall mounted, some additional space will be generated.
