Secluded paradise”
If you want to get away from it all in El Nido then this is the place to do it. On a small secluded beach, with another private beach a five minute canoe ride away you can’t get much more secluded. The main beach is not big, but big enough for you to get away from your fellow travellers. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and spread out over the well kept gardens and cliff faces (you can even stay in a tree house). Food is good, without being breathtaking delicious. We spent two days there which was probably enough as the seclusion may get to some after a while (the island is serviced by a boat that comes 2-3 times a day, but otherwise you are relaxing in a pretty small area). The price you pay for seclusion is steep, but possibly if you’re staying here price is probably not an issue. The staff are friendly and helpful, albeit the check in process was a little hopeless. After being greeted enthusiastically by the staff we spent 30 minutes waiting for our room.

The best resort and very relaxing place”
The staff are so nice but the food in the restaurant is not recommended specially the Japanese food..you should buy food and alcohol drinks in the city.

Who Needs Boracay?”
Very relaxing from the start. Was surprised with a room upgrade which was fantastic as I had trouble with the booking earlier. The friendliness of the staff and service made up for it all. The room was great and the facilities were fine. Too bad the weather didn't always cooperate, but can't blame the resort for that! The food was okay but wished we could have been offered adult beverages as we lounged on the beach (they don't serve alcohol but you can always bring your own). We will definitely go back one day and this made the closing of Boracay irrelevant (as a traveler).

Signature suite review”
The shower in the room was broken and not clean and the toilet was dirty and broken too and it felt like a 20$ for a night hostel toilet We slept with a huge lizards in our room and a lot of small spiders and bugs The service and everything else was just perfect but the room was horrible i expected a lot more from a 500$ for a night resort

Worth every penny”
Courteous staves stood out the most. Food are a bit pricey, but justifiable because the location is far from the mainland. You will definitely enjoy kayaking around the area, that is if the waves are calm.

Great Gateway for a day or 2.”
Pros: - The location is amazing and the resort's setting is really impressive. - Staff were awesome... Welcoming, friendly and helpful. - The private beach and corals were nice. Cons: - Restaurant is really below standard for a resort of this kind. - There are a lot of steps. Our room had around 99 steps to get to it. Though at least the view was amazing from up there. Doable if you're young like we are, though if you're of a certain age maybe it wont be the most relaxing thing to have. Though I do know that they are building an escalator to facilitate 3 rooms. - The bathroom door was all glass and had no lock. So the shower and part of the toilet itself were on show. So no privacy at all. - They could organise more activities and stuff for guests to do. It's ok for 1 full day or max 2, though apart from that there isn't much to do unless you're into laying on a sunbed all day.

A dream”
The room was great. Beautiful beach. You can borrow a kayak to go to a nearby sandbar. And you can go on a guided hike. I would recommend you to take a (half) day tour cause with all the extra’s (plus privacy) its not that much more expensive than a tour starting in El Nido town (and you will be on a boat with 15+ people).

The staff here are lovely”
And the location is beautiful. There is no diving from the resort but the staff will organise trips for you. Its a little strange not serving alcohol and needing to bring your own, the staff are happy to help chill or serve it, if needed. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here!

Everything is amazing”
Everything about this hotel is amazing, from the moment they pick you up, the best staff in the hotel, amazing place, amazing beach, good breakfast, nice rooms. If you have the budget, go to Matinloc for at least 3 days and you will love it. Make sure you do the tours in the town, because in the hotel they are about 3 times more expensive.

Matinloc Resort”
3 main strengths of this resort: location, limited number of rooms (exclusive feeling) and very welcoming staff. The 3 main weakness are: food/drinks with only one restaurant (pretty blend food, no alcohol), cloudy swimming pool and intermittent internet (may not matter for most). We were immediately taken by the beauty of the site and the cleanliness of the facilities (- pool), including bigger than expected beach bungalows. The sand beach is beautiful and well maintained. Snorkeling is one of the best I have seen on a private beach; beautiful coral and lots of fishes a few meters away from the beach. Canoe to the local beach is also great. The location is awesome; most people come to El Nido to see the beautiful Lagoons and Matinloc secret and hidden beaches. Being the only Matinloc resort, it is located less than 30mn from the Matinloc beaches and Miniloc Lagoons; you can easily be the first one there as long as you wake up early enough (6am). Overall highly recommended.

Stunning resort located in a superb beach”
Pros - one of a kind installations. Huge beatiful villas, very comfortable and well decorated. The beach is gorgeous. Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent environment. Cons - the food is very average and too expensive, a fact that casts shadow on the entire experience. Lunch and dinner have exactly the same dishes. The menu has very little variety. The quality is below average. I noticed this criticism before we booked and was hoping it would change. Unfortunately, it was even worse than I expected. It's really a shame for such a wonderful place.

Excellent”
We stayed at the Matinloc Resort for only two nights, towards the end of our El Nido trip. We were happy that this was our last stop, as we did all our shopping/tours out of the way while we stayed in town before our stay on the resort. If you do want to go back and forth they have a speed boat that only goes into town at certain times a day, or you can pay for a boat transfer if you wanted to.. The overall grounds is lovely and beautiful. You will definitely get your quiet time and R and R. The worst part about this place is the FOOD!!!! I feel so bad for the staff that have to hear the complaints of the dissatisfied guests. It's not their fault, this place really needs to step up their game when it comes to food, they need a total overhaul. The worst part is that it's the only place to eat otherwise you're taking a 25min speedboat trip into town. I would've rated this place higher if only their food was better.

Nice resort with private beach and clean rooms”
The resort has a nice beachfront and a good breakfast that is included in room price. The pool is small but overlooks the water. The only downside was the gym is terrible and tiny.

Five star accommodations with camp food”
Incredible location, wonderful views. Food was close to inedible. The fact that there is no bar was a negative but easy enough to take your own alcohol. Alcohol was necessary to choke down some of the worst food I’ve seen at a resort. Food served at improper temperature. Had some nice medium beef medallions that were served in a chaffing dish that was ice cold...

Beautiful but over priced and not veggie friendly”
Matinloc island is a beautiful resort but very over priced. (E.g coke 165 PHP instead of 40 PHP in sister resort el Nido beach hotel). Being a secluded island has its perks as the beach is just for guests at the resort, is well kept and beautiful but limits how much of el Nido you can actually see, as you can on get the boat to mainland at scheduled times. Tours are extremely expensive compared to those offered in El Nido town at more than double the price. Also not good for vegetarians despite being asked if we had dietary requirements before arriving and on arrival there were very limited vegetarian options one pasta and one pizza on the whole menu. On the tour all we could eat was plain rice and fruit, often expected on tours but when paying so much and being asked a few times if we were vegetarian it was disappointing not to have much to eat. Overall disappointing for the price, we wish we had stayed in El Nido town.
