The hub for whale watching”

Positive things: People come to Oslob mainly for whale shark watching. MB Sunrise is right at the spot which makes it greatly convenient. Staff are very friendly and accommodating, helpful. Wifi available only at the reception area but that is not a problem. Bedding, bed sheets are clean. Things to be improved: First we were given a room with very awful looking toilet commode - the seat is so black and dirty, not possible to use at all. So we had to change the room but had to pay some extras. Generally the hotel should improve the room condition. Water supply is inconsistent.

Basic room with Great location”

if you are looking for a cheap place that is near to the Oslob Whale Shark, this is the place to be. Very basic room, Bed, towels, aircon, private bathroom and the restaurant has a great view of the ocean and the resort has its own swimming pool. The resort staff assists their guests when they do the activity with the whale shark they fall in line for you, it is 3-5 minutes away to the area. Over all happy with this place, it served its purpose.

Not a great place to stay but not bad as well.”

TBH, we chose this hotel because I've read so many blogs about it. The bus literally dropped us infront of MB Sunrise View Hotel, and the conductor is even pointing us, instructing/forcing either, to enter it. Maybe this is for tourists who don't have prior reservations, since I heard that they pay The bus company 50pesos for every person that checks in. Not sure about that though. Anyway, staff didn't mind us even when we were there first. It's a sunday, apparently a busy day for them. And guess what, seeing their interactions, I think they prioritize the tourists more. Or it's just a busy day for them. Anyway, we were told to wait so we eat at their resto first but after almost an hour and a half and no one still went to talk to us, I followed up. Again, I waited for 20minutes as they were again talking to a foreigner. So, when I finally get to talk to them, they allowed us to check-in, finally! After that, I kept my interaction with the staff at a minimum. Pool is ok but didn't use it. Lighting in our room is a bit dim and no water during Sundays because of their many visitors! You can take a shower outside if you want but we just waited until evening to take a shower in our room.

All in all this hotel is good. They have pool side which overviews the sea. ”

If you want you can also view sunrise on their food hall or take memorable pictures. You can also oversee the boat watching the whale sharks. The room is good though they dont have a heater on the showers its fine. Staff are accommodating however the food is a bit pricey the quality from 1-5, 5 being the highest. I will rate it as 2.5 only. But hey, the hotel is nice good for a group of people and even staycation in oslob. It will be worth the money 😊. Definitely

Superb Location; satisfactory facilities but an amazing stay! ”

Located less than 200m away from the Whale Watching briefing area, you can watch the groups enjoying the whale watching experience right from the resort's restaurant along the shores. The room's floor was a little sandy when we arrived and it doesn't has hot water, pool looks dirtier than the sea but no complains being able to have a splendid view across the sea for a beautiful sunrise! Right outside the resort, you have a 24-hours convenience store (888); small street stores for a chat with the locals and a few amazing restaurants just up the street where you could enjoy music and dinner in the evening. Just look out of the traffic!

Small Place with few amenities that is convenient to Oslob whale shark watching which is walking distance. Sunrise view is incredible. Good food prepared fresh so be willing to wait.

Kind and friendly staff ”

MB Sunrise Resort is a great location for whale shark watching/swimming and very accessible to public transportation. They have clean and big rooms, and also comfortable beds, much better it they would provide television for the rooms. Staff were kind and friendly, specifically Ms. Daylin. A nice swimming pool which is almost finished will be ready for swimming by next week, so unfortunately we're not able to take a swim.

Oslob Stay”

Staff are great and accomodating. Basic aircon room, you get what paid for. 2 double beds with 1 toilet & table with no hot shower. The pool is right at front facing the beach front, very nice location. For the food, you can eat outside, a lot cheaper and more option, we didn't order there anyway. Will stay here again if we go back to Oslob.

Just for the whaleshark activity”

At first,the staff was nice and accomodated us to our room which was okay. Then comes the fees for the activities we want to do. I asked the staff there how much we will pay for the whaleshark watching, sumilon beach island and Tumalog falls,she told me the cost and I immediately paid for it. Then I was s disappointed that she did not even told us that the fee we paid for was only for the boat which will fetch us from the resort and we need to pay for the entrance fee when we get there and she did not even told us that it was a private resort under the blue water beach resort because when we planned to walk around the island,one of the polite guards there approached us in a rude way and called us "outsiders who just want to go inside the resort for free" because not all the tourists that go to that island are aware of the private resort there and he even told us that we will pay for 2000php if we go inside as penalty, we did not booked there but I personally we can afford to, it's the way he told us that really pissed me off, kudos to that guard that judged the "outsiders" who are not staying in that private resort. Then again after the sumilon beach,we asked "ate" from MB sunrise on how to go to Tumalog falls, she said there is an entrance fee of 120php per head and she asked for the entrance fee and said we can be fetched by their multicab there for free so I taught we had a discount and to my dismay there is no entrance fee when I asked the staff at the falls and to add up to my disappointment so I asked ate politely to clear the issue and she said sorry. So please be careful and dont trust anybody especially if you are not a local there, be cautious

Nice hotel for Whalewatching”

Centrally located hotel , in the vicinity of Oslob Whaleshark watching. 5 minutes walk to the briefing area.Spacious room , no TV tough. Quite clean , nice staff, fast check in and out , breakfast was nice , and reasonably priced. They have a small infinity pool with slides, opened as early as 7.30 am. The Ceres Tour bus to Cebu stopped right in front of the hotel. Overall our stay was satisfactory and we would stay again if we got the chance.

Resort Staff arranged our Whale Watching and Sumilon Island getaway. the resort had its own restaurant where we are our breakfast and lunch. the resort's store is also well-stocked, as we bought our shoes and hats for our adventures. we did not stay for the night as we opted to move on to Cebu.

Nice stay and staff”

Firstly,the property is really close to whale shake watching point.it is just walk distance.you can sign up for whale shark watching item through the reception.the boy will introduce to u patiently.and the price is fair and same with the authority.the bnb has a sea view restaurant and offers ice food such as grilled chicken.the boss is a very nice lady.talkable and positive.i like talking with her.and she got a lovely daughter. The restaurant is open by sea side that we can take beautiful pictures there.warm sunshine and clear water.it is able to see the people who is playing with whale shark

i stay in after their renovation so the amenities in the room seems quite clean. Thank God for that. However most of the time water coming out from heater are extremely small until I cannot bath. end up force to use the cold water coming out from tab. which is quite bad la you know when you already feel cold after coming back from beach or swimming pool then you thought a warm water bath from the heater will be a relieve..who knows you end up frustrated due to the water barely coming out from the heater shower head. Each bed is wide enough for 1 person to sleep comfortably (cz its double bed la). The aircond is good except that it is very noisy (old model aircond) it will suddenly sound very loud and may awake you if you are still light in your sleep. Good that they provide toilet roll. But water is not provided.. which I think MB sunrise should put a electric kittle in the room to let customer boil water (we don't mind you charge us in our room rate for this) instead of want us to go your canteen buy small plastic bottle of water daily (not eco friendly) and on the second day of our stay the trash bin already overflowed with small plastic bottles

The rooms were above the usual backpackers room”

Good bed in a spacious room from the rest, decent shower area inside. The pool was beyond what i have expected for its price. The staff were all accomodating, even if we arrived past 12am. The whale watching area was just a few short meters from the resort. Really a gem for backpackers.

Interesting "Resort"”

the staff was awesome, but for the place to be called a "resort" is a bit misleading. In our room the pillows were stained & disgusting, shower and toilet all in one and very cold water to shower. This is definitely just a one night stay ONLY! This place in my opinion charges too much, but only way I could see why is the location. Staff was a 10, but overall rating of the room was a 3. If we could have done anything differently it be stay at the resort two places down OR only stay at MB Sunrise resort ONLY one night.

Snorkeling with whale sharks”

We spend here just one night to be among first in the morning snorkeling with whalesharks, hotel arrange everything including underwater camera (its worth it), rooms are basic but fine for the purpose of our visit (with fan and shower, no hot water). Furthermore staff arange for us a trip to waterfalls and boat from Oslob to Panglao

Good cheap basic accommodation for a night before swimming with whale sharks”

We stayed here because we wanted to be the first group to be swimming with the Whale Sharks . Instead of traveling 3 hours from Cebu we could go with our hotel just down the road to have the induction and be in the water before the majority of tour buses arrived . The resort mainly caters for the lunches for the big tour groups so stay clear when they arrive . Once they have gone around noonish it is very quiet. The room was very basic but served the purpose . We spent the next day going to a waterfall in a cyclo.

Good location for activities”

This is the same hotel where we stayed 2 years ago. It is conveniently located to recommended activities when in Oslob like whale-watching, going to tour spots such as falls, park and remnants. It just got renovated, as it has now a swimming pool.

The staff are making delicious food also we enjoyed a lot sitting outside and enjoying fresh air and the view during our stay, sunrise is perfect from this property. staffs are nice , friendly and funny. but there was not hot water during our stay so we had to take shower under cold water

Location is its best aspect”

We were a group of four staying for one night for whale watching. We stayed in rooms next to the pool. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Our room had 2 queen beds, A/C, no hot shower, no TV. The only mirror was not in the bathroom, but on the wall outside the bathroom, which made shaving a challenge. WiFi (very slow) is available only at the reception area. The pool was newly constructed, not open, even though it had water in it. It looked like they were treating it with chemicals. The hotel is undergoing some construction, adding buildings in the middle of the property. There was dust, dirt, and construction work between our rooms and reception area. The restaurant offered basic Filipino fare. Expect slow service. Food ordered did not come out at the same time. I think it's cultural. We watched our friends eat while we waited 7 minutes for our food to arrive. The view is unbeatable since the dining area is right next to the sea. Location is the probably the best part of this hotel. Our Ceres bus from Cebu dropped us off at the entrance. The hotel organizes tours for Whale Shark Tours, Sumilon Island, and Tumalog Falls. We did all three. The whale shark tour is just a few minutes walk down the road, although they will transport you there. They take in a lot of day tourists for the whale sharks, and offers lockers, changing rooms, showers. The bus stop for Cebu City is right outside the hotel gate. Buses come by every 5 - 10 minutes. The downside of this resort is the price. We have stayed in much nicer accommodations in the PH with more amenities for lower price. Perhaps it's the lack of competition. Overall, it's a convenient location for a one-night visit. There is really not much else to do in the area.
