2nd stay here and would do it again”

The open fire is the thing that brought us back here. It is an older cottage, with some lovely features. Great retreat place after exploring the local area such as the cruise, beach, rail trip. We could have cooked but just took advantage of the microwave, jug and toaster. bed is super comfortable and large with electric blanket which makes the room nice and snug.

Husband & Wife touring”

On arrival, the property from the main road looked nothing like the picture on the web site. It was disconcerting to see that it was up for sale. Big question then, was our cottage still available ? The garden was very untidy & overgrown. There was no one around to welcome us, we eventually found a small sign with our name scribbled on which indicated our cottage (no.2). The key was hanging in the door & our first reaction was what had we come to.! The hall way was dark, cold & smelt damp. The log burner hadn't been cleaned out & it was apparent that we were expected to fetch logs from a tumbled down shed at the bottom of the garden, some 30 yards or so from the house. There was a log box against the front door, but that was empty. Bearing in mind that we had been travelling for approx. 5 hours, the least we expected was to have seen the fire laid ready for burning. It was as well that it wasn't raining (but fortunately still light). We had to find kindling wood from the garden (twigs etc). My wife & I are both nearly 80yrs. old & found the log carrying tedious. I booked the accommodation partly due to the recent review (opposite) by Heidi. This implied that a breakfast basket was provided, but no such luck. The picture of the bathroom showed a nice lace curtain - this wasn't there. The window was virtually blocked out by plant growth on the outside which made the room dark. It was obvious that the floor joists in the kitchen area were broken causing the floor to slope badly. (This was also evident in the hall) . We saw no one responsible for the property whilst we were there, which I thought was very unusual. The property originally would have had so much to offer, but unfortunately now it seems that key maintenance has not been carried out, both inside & outside. Hence affecting my review above. Taking into consideration my adverse comments, we therefore seek reimbursement for some of the payment made in hiring the accommodation. I await your comm

Absolutely THE Best!”

Location, location, location! Beautifully restored cottages with so much attention to authentic detail! The BEST ever breakfast basket ever!

We stayed in the Scottish themed cottage that is part of 'The Shambles'. Walking distance of shops, restaurants and pubs. Stunning accommodation! Friendly and helpful owner's. The attention to authentic detail in the cottage was amazing! Even steps under the bed for those of us vertically challenged to get up onto the high 4 poster bed. A gorgeous bathroom with a claw footed bath and seperate shower. Loved being able to read the history of the cottages.I would highly recommend this wonderful property and I haven't even mentioned the breakfast basket which took up an entire shelf of the frige or the compimentary port and tasmanian fudge! We'll be back!

Comfortable room with electric blanket”

Very good bed, nice lounge and tv.

The stove was not very good and we did not see any staff during the time we were there, however, the room was comfortable.

Wood fire heating for the winter

An enjoyable stay for us. We stayed in the winter so the fireplace was a lovely bonus. Not enough wood or small sticks to keep fire going all night. Plenty of hot water and warm bedding. Lounge room area a bit small to accommodate 5 people as there was only a sofa and chair. Sofa bed was comfortable enough for one night.
