Great location in Barcelona”
We stayed at the Monegal Hotel one night before our cruise and again for 2 nights after the cruise. The hotel was on a busy corner near Catalanya Square and Rambles. There were mimes, street markets, flower markets,a wonderful food market with beautiful fruits and fish, and plenty of small eateries of all kinds. A 20 minute walk down Rambles brought you to the beach. The Gothic Quarter with narrow, interesting streets, antique buildings and little shops was near by as were a number of gardens and many lovely historic buildings. On Catalanya Square were bus stops for all the tourist tours, busses to the airport and several large, very classy department stores. It is a huge square with a beautiful fountain. We took a fun and informative 4 hour bike tour which covered a lot of the important historic buildings and landmarks and ended with refreshments at the beach. The hotel staff were helpful as were the people on the street. The last night we were there the Barcelona soccer team won an important tournament and thousands of fans celebrated in the square and adjoining streets under our hotel windows, so we did not get much sleep. We would go back to this hotel specifically for the location.
The Medium Monegal Hotel is in a great location on Plaza de Catalunya. The A2 bus from the airport is only a few minutes walk away. The Hop-On, Hop-Off buses are just across the road from it, very handy for sightseeing. A taxi ride to the cruise port from outside the hotel costs around 12 euro approximately. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. They also speak very good English. The hotel itself is a little dated and lacking facilities but then it is a 2 star hotel and perhaps not for fussy people. The room was clean and we had a comfortable night sleep. Continental breakfast was adequate. We felt it was good value for money. If we were cruising from Barcelona again, we would stay here.
if you are a travel like i do you only sleep in your hotel room, you dont stay in one. this hotel is right in the middle of barcelona, on the bus route from the airport and right on la rambla. it was so central, we could not believe our eyes when weh saw its location. the views from the hotel roomm across the square is stunning as well!
Recommended Hotel in Barcelona”
I have stayed in Barcelona for 7 days with 2 hotels and spent 3 days for each hotel respectively. I find Medium Monegal Hotel is far much better than the other one. It's location is perfect as it is located exactly beside the exit of the Metro. The front desk assistants are kind, friendly and helpful. The bedroom is spacious and comfortable with clean washroom. You can see the whole view of the Catalunya Plaza in the balcony. I would like to recommend this hotel for those tourists who are planning to stay in Barcelona.
Medium Monegal Hotel Barcelona”
Excellent location. Medium Monegal Hotel is right at the corner of La Rambles, and next to McDonald. H&M, Zara, Habitat, FNAC are just next door! After get off from Aero-Bus, cross the Catalunya Plaza and you will see the hotel. We are lucky to stay in a room with windows and small balcony. Although there is leakage when shower, the stay in Medium Mongeal was very nice.
Nice location, stressed out staff”
Monegal was fine. It was relatively inexpesive for a hotel right off La Rambla and near Plaza Catalunya. The hotel staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and stressed out when we first arrived. There's a great vegetarian restaurant called Theresa Carles around the corner on Carrer Jovellanos. Gaudi attractions such as Casa Batllo, Palau Guell, Casa Mila, and Sagrada Familia are within walking distance (for the ambitious) and just a few stops away on the Metro, a stop for which is right outside the hotel. Overall, the hotel was a satisfactory place to sleep. No frills but a great location.
Great location with a traveler feel to it.”
This hotel was a little expensive for the room. I got a room in the back, with a balcony facing the back of another hotel, and very hot air from the huge air conditioning unit below. On the plus side it was quiet at night, as I am sure the front would be louder on La Rambla. The hotel did not have a kitchenette or refrigerator to buy lunch food to save money.
Great hotel, perfectly located with friendly staff”
i arrived into barcelona by airport bus late in the evening at catalonia square and found my hotel really was only a short walk across the square - so easy. then despite how late it was i was promptly welcomed and equipped with maps and all the orientation i needed for my two days stay. the very old lift was cute. i was lucky i guess to be offered an upgrade to a double room which although still small and with no view was v quiet and had a great ensuite bathroom and breakfast (with ample choice which included spanish frittata) was simply a wander down the stairs to the next level. this was perfect for my stay as i was out for full days and i would return to my bed being made up. i found all of the staff very helpful and friendly and fed this back to them in my feedback form. this really worked for me.
Great location, good price, no bar, small rooms”
if you take the a1 bus from the airport, it goes right to plaza cataluna, and you can walk to the hotel. close to la rambla, close to stores, zara, corte ingles, etc. i had a single room and it was very small. wifi works fine. pleasant breakfast room with nice offerings. the staff are helpful and responsive to questions. not for a picky person who wants a lot of features, but for the price, it's fine.
As a first time traveler to Barcelona this hotel was in a perfect location. steps from the subway made it very easy to see all the sites of the city and very easy to get to from the airport. The rooms were extremely small, but fit our needs for such a short stay. Directly off of las ramblas so it is very noisy at night. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone that is on a budget and only in Barcelona for a few days.
Best position in Barcelona”
No hotel of this price could beat this hotel for convenience. It is on Las Ramblers, opposite the main square, opposite a taxi rank ,across the road from the departure point for the Hop on Hop off bus, surrounded by many different eateries, next door to MacDonalds which has free WiFi. The Reception area is like a shoe box but the staff are very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are small, but clean. The included breakfast is adequate.
fantastic location, small bathroom basic amenitie”
we wanted to stay at an older charming building in Barcelona and Medium Monegal met that. we enjoyed our stay with the central location to eveything.
great value for money hotel”
This is the best value for money hotel you will find with a great location. It's right at Las Ramblas and where the bus stops from the airport. It's so convenient for those who have early flights. You can easily walk the night spots as well. It's very convenient for transit passengers.
Lovely hotel ”
pros : clean and very big room, comfortable , very satisfied. large bath, large bed , large lobby, very good service ,english spoken very good knowledge what the tourist needs , location at the center of barcelona , the staff explain us very clearly important details. cons : no safe in our room, no view , air condition was little loud , no lobby , slow elevator.
Great location but simple facilities”
It's the best location for Barcelona. The subway station 'Cataluna', which meets 3 lines, is very close to the hotel. The price is reasonable, but the room I have stayed is too small.
lovely hotels and helping staff”
hotel location is wonderful and staff is nice they tried to help u when u ask even they dont speak well english , the hotel is located in femous street in barcelona in rambla ,but the thing i dont like it at hotels that elevator is small if they change it well be nice
The location is perfect . 2 minutes to Rambla , Airportbus, Subway . The room was small but so what ? I,m not suppose to be in my room when i am i Barcelona . They had Wifi.. Buffe Breakfast to buy . Perfect
Hotel is excellent location being the heart of city square and also entrance of la rambla which has lots of things to eat and see and shop.
We feel lucky to have booked into this hotel. ”
Excellent. We had the best location possible in center Barcelona, for all our needs and tourist experience. The only issue was that the door/window did not keep all of the noise out of the room. We took that to be part of the 'ambience', but earplugs would be recommended
I only had one night to stay in Barcelona before flying back to Canada and the hotel was perfectly situated for getting from the train station and to the airport.
