Value for money ”
We stayed in Megaboom City Hotel for five nights in Sydney and it was the perfect choice considering the following: 1. Excellent location and near most of the places to visit (also near Townhall and St. James train stations) 2. Value for money - basic hotel amenities and the price was reasonable 3. We originally booked a Superior king room but we were upgraded to the next level (with city view) —- with a window facing York street. Very ideal for a couple with two large luggages. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Toilet just good enough with basic toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and body gel). Towels are also okay. 4. Staff are welcoming, especially Monique (Filipinas reception staff) and she was very helpful when we needed an adaptor and when we asked some questions (good English communication skills). The Chinese staff who facilitated our checkout & refunded our cash deposit (for the room, in case there are missing items like towels, and adapter) was also nice. Thanks.
Being a first timer to Sydney, I went through the reviews of several hotels near the Sydney Landmarks and found Megaboom with really good reviews especially its location and chose it, and it lived beyond my expectations. I was surprised with the clean new hotel in the centre of the city, close to QVB, the metro station, Darling Harbour, Restaurants and shopping and above all inexpensive. Rooms may be small but it serves the purpose of a city hotel for tourists and business travellers. Would recommend to anyone looking for an excellent hotel at a cheap price. Will go back to Megaboom next time.
Worth your money!”
The name as "MegaBoom" sounds a bit dodgy BUT it is really value for money! The location is like 3-4minutes walk to QVB and super close to anywhere such as Garden or the Mall. The room is spacious. Bathroom was big and the bed was perfect! Others reviewed this place as pretty small or cramped in but in my opinion, this is perfect for your vacation in Sydney! Since you will be out most of the day therefore, you don't need a view or balcony, just a simple room with a really great price! PLUS, the staffs here are so friendly and helpful! We will surely stay at Megaboom again next time we're in Sydney! :)
very recommended hotel”
the check in process is easy, staff is definitely friendly. they responded to our queries even before we arrive at the hotel. location is definitely in the central of cbd area, 5 mnts walking to QV building shopping, woolworth supermarket and Townhall station. room is very clean too. one drawback thoug, the room has too many tables (unused tables) and traveler like me who bring 3 big luggages, has very limited space in the room. other than that, everythung is perfect and dwfinitely recommend everybody to select Megaboom for their stay at Sydney.
Great place to stay”
It was my first time to be in Sydney CBD. Above all the places where to stay (as seen in Agoda Booking Site), this hotel has caught my attention. I have seen a number of good reviews and those were validated as I stayed there for a week. The place is near to the shopping malls and tourist spots like Sydney Opera House and many more. Also, close to number of transport systems like Light Rail (tram), metro trains, ferry and bus. I have a pleasant stay in this hotel because the staffs were accomodating. Those stationed in lobby were chinese but they are good in communicating English. For little improvement, for facilities (4/5) wifi connections should be fixed because when evening comes, connections were unstable (for some reasons). I like everything. When given a chance, I will be staying here again. 很好👌👍🏽！
After a refreshing cruise to South Pacific, my sister and I extended our trip 03-06 April 2017 in Sydney. Through Agoda, we booked Megaboom City Hotel. It was very close to George Street, Pitt Street Mall as well as to Darling Harbour. Their prices are very reasonable for city location, rooms are clean, staff friendly and helpful - there is nothing else we need to make our stay comfortable and free from worries. Thank you Agoda and Megaboom!
Clean room, good location”
The hotel is located few meters away from Queen Victoria Building. Walking distance to Chinatown, Sydney Bridgeclimb, Sydney Fish Market, Opera House, etc. Nearby the hotel there are many restaurants (international cuisines), cafes, shopping malls, pharmacies, convenient stores, banks, etc. Construction of light train rail is on-going along George Street and it could be dusty & noisy with the diggings. Hotel rooms are clean, modern toilet with rain shower, bed is comfortable. Rooms size not very big but good enough for 2 pax. Airport shuttle from the hotel is convenient and punctual with reasonable fare. Overall we had pleasant stay at Megaboom Hotel.
Best Value for Money Hotel at Sydney CBD”
It's my 2nd time staying at megaboom hotel when visiting Sydney. Well as the hotel is just a boutique hotel, I did try to book a different hotel but just could not find one with better value at nearby locations. Thus, given the same budget, I will most likely stay here again next time. Nothing to complain about this hotel to be honest. My expectation is not very high and it met all my needs.
Great Hotel in the Vicinity of...Everything!!!”
This hotel is a five-minute walk to Town Hall and Wynyard Train Stations respectively so it's easy to get around Sydney. It's close to Woolworths (Woolies), the main shopping districts and night clubs on George St. The hotel hallways are very bright and secure with video surveillance cameras on each floor on every corner. The main front doors are locked after 11 PM-7 AM so you need your room card to enter during these times. Hotel staff is accommodating and are happy to answer any questions you may have. Cons with this hotel: there is no peep hole on the room doors so you can't see who's knocking at your door; the fridge in the room is not cold enough for your perishable items to be stored in; the rooms need to be sound-proofed better as you can hear people in the hallways when they walk through. All in all, I would stay in this hotel again if I were to revisit Sydney.
Comfortable stay in the CBD”
Pros: Hotel location is close for you to walk conveniently between Wildlife Sydney Zoo, Madame Tussauds, Sea Life Aquarium, Sydney Tower Eye, the luxury stores and groceries at Pitt St and the QVB. The receptionist was kind to give us a room upgrade so we really loved the space provided for us. Amenities include toiletries (except dental), towels, hairdryer, mini fridge, mini kettle, coffee, tea and bottled water. Hot water saved us from the freezing temperature outside. Our room has a Smart TV and the channel selections were great. Cons: No bidet. Shower area can use more shelves to place personal toiletries. Internet does not reach our floor; luckily we didn't need it too much as we are always outside. If you are sensitive to noise, this hotel is not recommended because you can hear (and feel) the subway train passing by underground every few minutes. There are also a lot of trucks outside during night for an ongoing construction maybe and garbage collection.
Everything is good”
Located in Sydney CBD, close to town hall. I didn't catch any public transport except going to the airport because everything is close by (you may need to use public transport if you don't like walking long distance). I walked to Potts Point from the hotel and it took me about half hour. But I really enjoyed it. Hotel itself is good, reasonable price and very clean. I'm definitely coming back.
Stones throw away fr Queen Victoria Bldg”
I liked that the hotel is at the center of Sydney CBD. Queen Victoria Bldg and Darling Harbour were just stones throw away from its location. Room was also clean and looked newly rennovated. I wished I had a room facing the York St but that was just a minor thing. Will recommend this to anyone travelling to Sydney.
Budget Hotel with Perfect Location”
We found this hotel to be a good compromise between cost and location. While not a "high-end" accommodation, the Megaboom City Hotel was comfortable, clean and friendly. The location was excellent for sightseeing since it was close to the train and was walking distance to the harbor and other sights. Having purchased the larger king room, there was not a feeling of being cramped, although it would have been nice to have a bathtub in addition to the shower. All-in-all we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would recommend it to other travelers.
location, location, location”
The location is great. Every surface is new but unsure if it was refurbished or gutted and made anew. There was a distinct distant rumbling noted sometimes but not disturbing and it did not effect my sleep. Due to Sydney fringe festival the cost high and choices low but the Megaboom was adequate if a little hard on the budget.
Great Hotel in great location”
MegaBoom City is nicely located opposite QVB and within minutes to Chinatown, to train stations such as TownHall or Wynward Station. This make it easy to travel to and from Airport. Hotel is clean and there are plenty of food choices nearby.
Fantastic Location with Reasonable Price”
This hotel was superb! Great location, reasonable price. Just imagine you're in the heart of Sydney City, yet you still afford to stay in this Hotel. It took just 5 minutes walking distance to Darling Harbour, 3 minutes to QVB, Westfield, The Strand Arcade, 7 minute to St James Station and Hyde Park. Just name it. You are surrounded by all the well known destination. Will recommend this hotel to my family and friends.
Thanks to Agoda for helping me to waive room cancellation charge from Megaboom City Hotel even though Hotel do not allow to refund back to me due to their policy!!!! Honestly, Megaboom City Hotel should help to waive this fee not Agoda!! Thanks again.. Always be your good supporter!!!
The location was excellent. All of the services were exactly as expected and even better in many ways. The accommodations were much better than a normal hotel because it was a condo-like place. We used the room for sleeping, etc. We didn't have a need for room service, a lap pool, and all of the other niceties that larger hotels have. When traveling to Sydney for fun, who stays in their room?? Walking out the door and being so close to whatever we wanted to do was the best. Money is not a critical issue with us and we could have paid 3 to 4 times as much and stayed at a "fancy" place, but why? The people at the counter were very helpful and answered all of our questions. Local maps were available. Check-in and check-out was a breeze.
Perfect base for exploring Sydney City!”
We were more than happy with our 2 night stay in this small but new, Central Sydney City hotel. Many attractions just 5 to 15 min walk. Room was clean, well appointed with king bed and a bonus of free wi-fi. Friendly, helpful staff, luggage storing facility and a large bathroom opposite reception made changing before going to airport etc, easy and comfortable.
Awesome Location at an Affordable Price”
This Hotel was great! It is located steps away from QVM and central to Most of the Tourist Spots in Sydney. Although there is no breakfast and not much in terms of facilities and amenities, the SMART TV made up for it allowing you to access netflix. There are great restaurants, like Baker Bros, across and along the street. Staff were friendly and helpful, and did inform us that they were only available a certain (11pm I think) Overall, the location of this hotel was a steal for its price.
