Vacation in Meitetsu Grand Hotel”

The hotel is clean and big enough even if we had a triple room booking. The hotel employees were pleasant and helpful. We all slept well each night.
We would have liked a more Japanese breakfast because the hotel breakfast was more continental.

There were 10 in my family who spent our Christmas vacation in Nagoya and all of us stayed at the Meitetsu Grand Hotel. All of us were fully satisfied with the hotel room, service and location. The best feature is the location because it is so accessible to the bus and train. We didn't have any prohlem regarding transportation to and from the airport. We fully enjoyed the many many shops below the hotel. We are definitely planning another trip to Nagoya and will definitely stay at the Meitetsu Grand Hotel again.

Convenience in Central Nagoya”

A few steps from the main stations in Nagoya

my overnight stay at meitetsu grand hotel was brief but pleasant. the hotel is on the top floors above the meitetsu department store, and maybe 200 meters from nagoya station, where numerous train and subway lines all converge, making it supremely convenient. while i didn't stay long enough to try the hotels many services, i expect they would all be fine, this is a pro operation. my one complaint is that the internet service, while happily free, is not available via wi-fi. while they would cheerfully provide the lan cable needed to connect, this did not help me with my ipad nor my macbook pro retina, neither of which have ethernet ports.

good place”

The staff are very nice and helpful

I went to Nagoya with my big family of 8 persons. I want my family to have good dining experiences in Nagoya so I emailed to the Hotel staff and asked them to suggest some restaurants for dining and help out the reservation before my departure and they responded so promptly. The reception staff who kept on answering my email enquiries are: Mizutani, Nozaki and Hiro, all of them are very friendly and patient. On our last day, we were somehow in a rush to take the meitetsu train to airport and the hotel arranged a bell boy to help us transport our luggages and lead us a short cut to the train platform. It is because the Hotel noticed that, we were travelling with two 2-year-old babies + one 6-year-old kid + one 70-year-old elderly and the bell boy really helps a lot. All I can do now, is to write a good review about this hotel and I’ll regret if I don’t do this.

Good location for travel by train/bus; bad cigarette smell from air vent.”

+ The hotel is above the Meitetsu Bus Center and Meitetsu department store. You can access the Meitetsu Train Station within 5 minutes by walk at underground floor of Meitetsu Men Building nearby. It also very near to the Keitetsu Train Station, Nagoya Subway, Shinkansen, JR Central Station(To travel by Ltd. Express Wide View Hida train to Gero, Gifu, Takayama, Toyama etc. ). There are a wardrobe that you can put your luggage in, a small table and armchair. You can watch the local tv channels for free. - I can smell a very strong cigaratte smoke (I stayed in non-smoking room) which I think it come from heater so I have to open my window all the time even though it's freezing cold outside. My neighbour was really mad about it, I always heard the loud noise from their room everytime I smelled the smoke. Sometimes I can smelled the food too, like steak or something like that because there are the various restuarant on the very top floors of the building. The wall is really thin and the housekeeper will come around 8 am and start doing their job but they won't come inside to your room if you're still in. They will call to ask about the time that they can come. If you hang the 'Do not disturb' sign, they will put all the amenities in a bag for you to collect in front of your door.

Right above meitetsu bus station”

Hotel is located at the 11 floor of Meitetsu bus center. Therefore, you can just take take a lift up if you take the airport bus. Do go to the hotel website for the access map. This building is the "men" meitetsu building. Right in the middle of all of nagoya station, food and location won't be a problem. Staff are able to converse in simple english and another staff can speak relatively good mandarin as he is still learning. Room itself is old and needs upgrade. I book this place for 1 night as i need to go to take the airport bus early in the morning. Do book this hotel if you want to avoid the steps and all the hassle of lugging your luggage around.

Best choice for Nagoya”

The hotel is very near JR Nagoya Station, Meitetsu, and Kintetsu lines. It's very close to many nice restaurants and department stores. Meitetsu Bus center is in the same building with the hotel since we have many luggages, it was super convenient to travel to the airport by bus. We also traveled to Nabana no sato by bus. The hotel staffs were very helpful and responded very quickly, we were very impressed and will definitely come back to stay here again.

Highly Recommended at a Central Location”

It is strategically located in the centre of Nagoya where you have access to both train and bus services, especially helpful when heading to the airport. Visitors with massive luggage should really consider taking the Meitetsu bus service, just beside the hotel, which is great convenience. Complementary mobile phone is also a great help. However, the scent of cigarette smoke can be very apparent at places like the lobby and lifts, which may not be to everyone's liking. However, we faced no such odour in our room.

Old But Grand”

Just pointing out some negative I could say that we requested a non-smoking room but the room smelled that it was used as a smoking room. The aircon is a little bit stuffy, not recommended staying in summer time when the heat and humidity is very high. Good points: Room wise it is quite big enough for three of us with luggage to move around. It is definitely near the subway lines. It is about two blocks away from JR Nagoya Station above ground. To people who are not familiar with the underground paths of JR Nagoya Station, I highly suggest to take the streets instead as it is much more better view in navigating to the hotel.

Fantastic location, quietness, reasonable price

This was my second time staying at Meitetsu Grand Hotel. It is located at the top of Nagoya station, and is really convenient for shopping and having a great meals nearby. There is a great bathtub with purfumed body soap, shampoo & conditioner, and the room was so neat, clean, and quiet with free Wifi. I really enjoyed staying there and I will definitely return.

The location of Meitetsu Grand Hotel can not be beat. It is connected to three train stations, the subway, department stores, and restaurants. Clean and quiet; the service is excellent. If you enjoy watching trains, ask for a room facing the railways and you will be amazed.

Good location, large room, convenient

I stay in this hotel on my first day in Nagoya. It's very convenient and easy to get there from the airport because it's next to JR, subway and railway station. The hotel can directly go to the foodcourt and department store which is easy to take my babystroller. The room is large compared with my other hotel in Nagoya. It has many space even I open my two lugguages in my room.

Nice hotel with excellent location”

convenience

The best thing about this hotel is its central location, being the crossing point of JR, Meitetsu lines, and Kintetsu lines. For travellers who would take a lot of public transportation and would like to use Nagoya as a base for regional travelling, this hotel is ideal. Even under rainy weather, getting access to the train lines, department stores, shops and restaurants will not be a problem, as they can either be found in the underground shopping streets or accessed through underground passages. The hotel rooms are pretty big in Japanese standard and are cleanly maintained. The hotel staff are polite and helpful, although not all staff could speak or understand English. Some of the hotel rooms are facing the railway tracks. The noise from passing trains could be quite disturbing. We were first offered a room facing the railway lines. After we called the front desk and raised our concern about the noise, they promptly offered us an upgraded room on the other side of the railway line. Overall, I think the hotel is worth its cost.

Great hotel at Nagoya JR Station”

Location, price, bath room soap!

The hotel is a great place to stay if you just need a quick couple nights in Nagoya. Located right in the heart of the JR Nagoya Station - there is EVERYTHING you need around - food, convenience stores, department stores, nightlife, entertainment, you name it! The quality is what you can expect of a typical Japanese-style business hotel. Relatively small rooms (Compared to western hotels - which is the norm for Japan) but everything works, is clean, and efficient. Check-in service is polite and speedy. The best thing about this hotel though is the bath soap / body wash / shampoo they use in the bathrooms! It smells incredible and it's so uniquely wonderful I had to include it here. Too bad I didn't get the name of the brand they use or else I'd surely have purchased it. Keeps you smelling nice and refreshed after a night out in the smokey Japanese restaurants. Enjoy your stay!

Good Hotel, Great Staff”

Clean & efficient room, great staff

the room i was first assigned was a smoking room. i need a non-smoking room. when i went to the front desk, despite the fact the hotel was very, they were able to find me a non-smoking room. when i mentioned i didn't like the pillow i had, they quickly sent me a feather pillow. the room was small, but it was perfect for what i needed (a clean place to sleep). the bed was comfortable, the room clean and easy to make perfect for me (make it a little colder). the hotel was easy to get to from the shinkansen station and if the weather is bad, you can get there without going outside. i have no complaints. the next time i am in nagoya, i will stay here again.

Great hotel - see my other review”

Location, price, bath room soap!

Please see my other review on this hotel in Nagoya - a great place to stay atop JR Nagoya station. You can't beat the location. Tip: if you're a non-smoker, better to ensure you get a non-smoking room as the stench in the smoking rooms is, while tolerable, quite obvious and a bit nauseating if you are a non-smoker. So, if you're a non-smoker and you get a better deal on a smoking room thinking you can handle it for a short stay to save some money - it may not be worth it.
