boring and loud: you can watch ships passing by
fancy boat/room
the permanently passing boats were very loud you cannot do anything but staying on the boat, because there is nothing to do: they recommend to do no walk on turtle island (wild dogs, poor neighborhood) dirty fridge (what they call fridge: it was an icebox) they recommend a travel agency which is very expensive (German prices in Vietnam), but you don´t get for what you paid!! this travel agent is the only possibility if you want to see anything, and he knows that you are in this trap!

unique place to stay
location, location, location
The floating houses are a unique place to stay, food was good, service fine. The place is just nice, you have your own house direct on the water and for relaxing and reading a book it is perfect. Only problem is to get there. It is expensive to get to turtle island and back.

Great location
Location, Quiet, Unique
We had a mixed stay at the Mekong Floating House. We stayed here as a group over the weekend during a trip to Vietnam for Charity Work. The Floating House is unique and is traditionally built. I quite liked this aspect. It is a working river and there are noisy boats going past, but in my opinion, that is just part of the experience. No big deal. The dinner is 200,000 Dong, which is exponentially more expensive than HCMC prices, but in real terms, quite cheap compared to Aussie prices. The main course was essentially 2 minute noodles, which I can see from Travel Adviser, other groups experienced this too. It is hard to decipher the practices of different cultures. I felt that the boat driver was trying to get as much $$$ out of us as possible, and was not happy when we wouldn't take a boat cruise too. He organised a private van for us to get back to HCMC, but I suspect that it would've been heaps cheaper to organise that myself when we got back to the dock at Ben Tre. Overall, I would go back again. It is a quiet & relaxing retreat in a noisy country. Just be aware that costs could be unwittingly added along the way.

Fantastic place and concept
Location, comfort, staff
Very nice and original place to stay right in the heart of Mekong Delta. The floating Houses are very stylish, comfortable and clean. The place is gorgeous and quiet. Don't miss the bicycle tour around the islands eventhough it's a bit pricey. Only disappointment was food which was ok but not as good as expected. Still friendly and english speaking staff. Relaxing and peaceful place, a must!

Beautiful surroundings
Nature was right at hand.
I loved this beautiful floating bungalow. I found the owner a bit pushy to sell activities and they were too expensive being as you can't walk around the actual Island.

Great to stay in a floating house
Location, remoteness, novelty factor of living in a floating house
The transfer was a little expensive from HCMC, but it was quite a drive then a boat ride, so it was worth it. The floating house was novel and well designed, with a flushing toilet, fresh water, a hot shower, standing fan and electric lights provided by solar power so no noisy generator. There is no internet and nothing to do except relax. It was a perfect ending to our busy holiday travelling around Vietnam where we could read, play cards and eat together on the deck of our house. All the meals were a set menu but very tasty and locally provided. Enough boats went past to provide interest but not enough to be an annoyance and it was soothing to feel the gentle rocking of the floating house.

Idyllic hotel. Great escape.
Sitting watching the river go buy as sun rises or sets.
Accommodation is clean, functional. Location is superb, all you see are the trees and the river (plus occasional boats going by). Transfers are expensive, relative to the accommodation - so do some research on this. Food is great - simple breakfast, vietnamese evening meal. It's traditional, so be prepared, but tastes great. Didn't get our free boat trip.

Great experience. Welcomed c a smile.
Houses x4 look the part. Enough space. Local materials
This is a kind of back to basics experience with extras. I guess a kind of clamping on the water. Each house has a spacious bedroom & en suite toilet to one side, shower to the other. No foyer or hotel complex as such. Met on arrival by friendly young host. Virtually no English spoken, but this is normal for most of southern Vietnam and you can usually make yourself understood. Owner is French & does speak good English. He can be contacted by phone if necessary. Meals served on the veranda. Cooling by opening windows and by fan. Clearly this is a light weight structure as it has to float. It feels spacious. Walls single thickness of woven bamboo, roof coconut leaves. You can't see in but there's little sound insulation. There is a little movement on the water as you would expect. Take the free boat trip returning to the hotel at sunset. We watched the local fisherman as he laid out his fish traps in the evening set the feel. We loved it... Getting there & bock from the mainland the hotel quoted us 10 dollars for 2 each way. We took a tour on the way out and they were happy to drop us to the hotel... & the hotel boat back.
