A quality hotel but not very close to Acropolis”
the hotel melia athens is a luxury hotel, with excellent service and facilities. the bedroom was spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. the room had all the facilities you would exert from a quality hotel, including a huge bathtub with jacuzzi, which i found to be most enjoyable and relaxing after a day walking around athens in the heat. the only downside is the location, which is near omonia square. the location is fairly central, within about 15 minutes walking distance of the acropolis, however omonia is not the nicest of locations in athens. also, the view of the acropolis from the rooftop bar is further away than it appeared when i booked online. however, all in all i had a very pleasant stay at this hotel, and it was extremely good value for money, given the high quality of the hotel and its facilities.
Value for money, Good location, nice rooms”
I've read reviews on people saying safety is an issue due to the location of the hotel, but I definitely do not find it dangerous. I travel with my female friend, so it was just the both of us. (both female, small built). And the hotel is 5 mins walk to Omonia station & is 10 mins walk to Athens National Library. Thus it is extremely convenient. The open rooftop skybar & swimming pool has great view of Acropolis & Mt. Lycabettus (Likavitos). The hotel rooms are clean & cosy. I've stayed there for 3 nights on the 12, 15 & 18 Oct 2013. The hotel staffs are friendly especially the one at the open rooftop skybar. Receptionist help us call for cab when we needed and advice us on our enquiries. Even before my trip I've lots of enquiries thus I emailed Melia Athens for help. They replied all of my emails promptly and are very kind & polite despite the many questions I had. The only thing I didn't like was that hotel do not provide complimentary water bottles. Will recommend this hotel as it is affordable (app. 160SGD), value for money, convenient, nice room, comfortable bed, jacuzzi bathtub, friendly staffs.
nice hotel close to the archeological museum”
We enjoyed our one night stay at the Melia Athens Hotel and wish we had stayed for more nights! We were given a free upgrade to a larger room, which was quite spacious, with a comfy bed, jacuzzi tub & rain shower. The hotel staff was quite helpful and gave us lots of information about sights in Athens. If we'd stayed longer we would have loved to try the spa!
fun, accomodating, nice”
We had a nice stay at Melia Athens Hotel. We had to change our rooms due to the smell of smoke but the hotel was very accommodating. The showers were very nice with great back jets. The beds are comfy and relaxing. The pool bar at the top floor was amazing! It was very busy during our stay but great view of Acropolis and cooling off in the pool was much needed after a day of sightseeing.
Great location”
We had a great stay at the Melia Athens Hotel. The hotel's location is amazing, close to the all main attractions. The room was very clean and the staff was polite. Great start of our holiday.
Great hotel in great location”
we arrived early and were taken up to the beautiful roof terrace where we had coffee with barry who helped us with our sightseeing plans, pointed out sites close by and marked a map with our intended places to visit. the hotel is so easy to get to from the airport unlike other hotels in istanbul. the location is perfect for sightseeing as so many of the major sights are a short walk away. breakfast had a large variety with some changes each day and complimentary pastries and tea served at 5pm. while breakfast was served on the lowest level it is possible to take breakfast up to the roof terrace which was beautiful with the view of the marmara sea and all the shipping. lovely sitting there with a drink late in the afternoon and possible to have dinner there which we didn't do so can't comment on the dinners. room while not particularly big was very clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful. would definately return again.we needed to change our hotel for our last night in istanbul as our plans had changed and the melia was fully booked, they arranged the taxi and told us the expected fare and assured us we would not get ripped off by the driver as they are familiar with the drivers, something we were aware off is quite common in istanbul with taxi drivers so it was a relief to arrive at our other hotel without a hassle with a taxi driver over the fare. also provided a bottle of water each day as tap water is unsafe for drinking.
Good hotel in nice area”
The best hotel we stayed in for our recent Europe trip. Hotel is near to metro, and 15 mins stroll to shopping mall. Great surrounding with shops for daily need (eg. water) available a stone throw away. Hotel room is very clean and beautifully designed. Felt right at home when you first enter it. Staffs were great and helpful. Wifi speed is reasonably fast. Definitely will be staying here again for my next athens visit

Really good value for money”
We had a long weekend in Athens and this hotel served us really well. Underground stations were really close and there were some bargain shops around. Also eating out is easy. The best feature of the hotel is its nice pool and sauna area on the roof. The staff is really friendly and they, e.g., turned on the sauna just for me when I asked. Rooms are clean and modern. Free internet is available only in the lobby and pool areas, unfortunately.
Good staff. Good Location ”
Kostas, the front office manager took very good care of us , He was gracious and helpful. The breakfast staff were efficient, professional and very nice, I took off 2 stars for the hamam which is a steam room and was not working well For our time there , but management made it up to us. The layout is a bit odd and the sauna a bit tight. The pool and rooftop deck are beautiful,(Nice long pool for length swimming ) but hours in the winter season (November ) a bit short, so not open for a morning swim before heading out or an evening swim after a long day out. Jacuzzi, cold , Sauna and gym open though. Overall a very positive and pleasant experience .Close to everything. Rooms lovely, a good size and cleaning staff very good as well. Thank you for a good home base in Athens for a week. Best Wishes, jamie from Canada
Everything is good except the location”
melia hotel located near omonia square. you can walk to the metro about 5-10 minutes walk to get to metro station. however, the location is not so comfortable and a bit dangerous to walk in the night. the rooms are comfortable, spacious, bathroom is good. except there is no water provided in the room, and no kettle in the room. kettle, coffee, and tea are chargeable upon request. free internet is not provided in the room, only in lobby area.
Amazing! ”
let me start with breakfast. it was a mixture of english and european breakfast which didn’t leave us hungry and was delicious. the bar and pool deck on the top level had a spectacular view of athens, breath taking. also has great features such as spa, sauna and steam room and a gym (which wasn’t used much!) the staff were extremely helpful and were able to organize a private driver to drive us to the airport at 4.30am!
extermely surprised & inpressed”
Considering past noisy experiences in Athens, this hotel was really impressive.A very nice & quiet room,10 min walk to the Acroplolis & top floor pool/bar with great views of the Acropolis,Service very good.Defintely will go back.
Good Location”
My wife and I stayed at Melia Athens Feb 2013. We had a great stay, the hotel is nice, the rooms are clean and the location is good. very close to the Metro Station. The hotel is not so crowded, and the region is a little old athens, with old buldings. in general the hotel is a good option to stay in Athens
Comfortable Hotel with friendly staff”
The hotel is located in down-town Athens and in walking distance to major attractions. Also the subway is available and in walking distance. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is very friendly and willing to assist you with any requests.
Comfortable Hotel”
The hotel is located in down-town Athens and in walking distance to the subway but feel kinda sorry about for the surrounding buildings & street. It had been vandalism & not well maintenance. The rooms are clean and the staff are friendly. They have an awesome & yummy breakfast too.
very helpful friendly staff ”
very nice hotel not to far from the airport 35 min and close to the attractions in the city, we had a rental car could not have got around athens with out the gps!
Hotel Melia Athens- ”
We opted for "The Level Experience" this entailed a room with access to spa treatments, free bottles of water daily though we were only supplied with the ones that were there on check in- that said we didn't request a restock so no real quarrel with that. Generally we were really happy with this hotel the only negatives I can really bring up are 1. Despite having "The Level Experience" which was branded as an exclusive service booking, we had to pay €48 for the airport shuttle. This was just a taxi with his meter running. The meter price was €26 2. The food at the rooftop lounge was disappointing and we both left our mains pretty untouched. Despite telling the (very friendly) staff that the food was not very nice they made no offer to strike it off the bill. We actually wanted to go for food elsewhere after this sadly disappointing meal but it was a public holiday in Greece and Athens was like a ghost town so we went to bed hungry. Luckily the gigantic breakfast brought to our room as part of the Experience was of good quality. Overall- lovely hotel in an interesting part of town with great rooms and friendly staff. We were happy with our 2 night stay and would probably stay again.
This was our second brief visit, beautiful hotel”
A very comfortable hotel in Athens. The view of the Pathanon from the rooftop pool/bar/ restaurant is worth staying for. Highly recommend.
lovely hotel with great service”
we enjoyed our time at the melia. from phone calls to checkout they were helpful and gracious hosts. breakfast was quite expensive so we ate at bakeries, but we enjoyed the room a lot.
