Excellent”
Stayed at Melia Hanoi for 5 nights and took 2 rooms. Requested connecting rooms for my family of 4. Hotel was able to arrange that and also took in my request to be on a higher floor (stayed on 10th floor). This was a good thing as the music from the 3rd floor lounge can be quite loud especially on the weekend. The hotel is centrally located, walking distance to quite a number of places (Starbucks, first McDonald's in Hanoi, some nice local cafes and an extremely popular pizza/pasta place called 4P Pizza). It is also a 10 mins taxi ride to the Old/French Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake. All rooms are clean, air-conditioning was comfortable, bed and pillows nice and wi-fi was very stable and signal was strong (my children were streaming movies with no problems). The hotel gym was good size and the spa was not bad too. The hotel staff were attentive, housekeeping giving us new supplies when we called, concierge helped us to book restaurants for dinner. All staff spoke good English.
Dear Connie, On behalf of Melia Hanoi team, I would like to thank you for choosing Melia Hanoi for your stay in Hanoi as well as taking your time to review us on Agoda,to know your opinion is very helpful for us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed a great experience at our hotel. We are happy to know that you enjoyed the facilities that we provided, the gym, our rooms and the location. Once again, our most sincere thanks to share your opinion in Agoda. We look forward to welcoming you back to Melia Hanoi soon. Kind regards, Enric Castells Guest Experience Team
Melia Hotel Hanoi, Vietnam”
There are many hotels listed in Hanoi. If you are on a limited budget or a backpacker, you can choose from hundreds in the old quarter. That's fine if you like no windows or noisy environments. Local knowledge is invaluable and a friend in Hanoi said there was only one area to stay and that is in the embassy areas. Melia offered a great deal on Agoda for a deluxe room. It's in a great area in the city so you can walk to the Opera and museums and there are a wealth of western-style eateries, coffee shops with free wifi etc. So, location is fabulous. Check-in was efficient and fast. My deluxe room was finished well but an old tv and no DVD spoiled it somewhat. At this price point, a plasma and DVD should be considered mandatory. WiFi/internet is supplied for a price. Would a hotel provide a room without a TV nowadays? Of course not, so why this silly idea that internet is not required? Why do many hotels still think it is ok to charge for an essential service? Let me say it loudly so that hotel managements hear this: we want internet in our rooms and elsewhere in the hotel and it should be provided for free at a five star hotel. The Melia is everything a five star establishment should be: courteous, efficient staff, lovely spacious reception area/lobby, fast lifts (elevators to our US friends), lovely pool at a gorgeous temperature (but silly towel policy whereby you can arrive to the pool area and find no towels and have to go back inside to the health club and sign for one (!!!). This is just a silly policy that needs changing. Towels should be available at the pool where you use them. The health club was very impressive with lots of programmes offered for those who go for that sort of thing. Breakfast offered a huge selection (my booking included breakfast for two)
Solid performer in the central location in Hanoi ”
Whenever I visit Hanoi for business, I tend to stay Melia. This is one of better known and established hotels located in the central district, convenient location. Hoan Kiem lake is within a walking distance. Every feature of this hotel is above standard, though not the top level. While there are a few other hotel options in the Hanoi central district, Melia offers the best balance between price and performance.
Friendly and Professional Atmosphere ”
Being a solo female traveler, I couldn’t ask more from a hotel. It made me feel both safe and welcomed in Hanoi. Quality of the staff, room facility & amenities, and location of Melia Hanoi exceeded my expectations. Especially the members of the Concierge Desk were friendly and attentive. ( I usually experience one or two individuals who aren’t so helpful .). One example of their excellence happened when a Concierge made a mistake of telling me the wrong stamp price for a postcard. This happened while I was checking out of the hotel. Then several hours later, I had returned to the hotel premises to catch my ride to the airport. (Even though it was after I had checked out) he came over and apologized, then returned the difference. Then when he found out my ride was late, he and the others made sure I got to the airport in time. I look forward to returning to Melia Hanoi for my next trip.
Dear AKIKO, Thank you very much for choosing Melia Hanoi as your "home away from home" and for your great review, especially your nice comments about our Team members. We are delighted to know that you really enjoyed your stay with us and you were impressed by the honesty of our Concierge staff. Client’s satisfaction is our ultimate commitment. Your positive comments will help us with our continuing effort to improve the service quality. Once again, our most sincere thanks you for your comments. We look forward to serving you again in the near future. Warm regards Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh Guest Experience Manager
A comfort in Hanoi”
It was my first time to be in Vietnam, and Melia Hanoi was a great comfort. Hotel is quite well located in the centre of the city, that I was able to walk to restaurant, shops etc. The room was spacious and clean. The amenities were also good. I left quite early in the morning, but the hotel was serving coffee/tea and rolls in the lobby for early departing customers. Taxi was arranged according to my wish. I would stay at Melia Hanoi if I would have a chance to visit Hanoi again.
WONDERFUL ROOM”
Its too wise to celebrate our new year in Melia Hanoi. We got upgraded to Melia Level Suite, and the room is wonderful, the celebration cake from the hotel is so yummy and fresh. Not to say the bed, we had good sleep and fully recharged on our first day of 2018. The bathtub and the complimentary lemongrass bath salt, such luxurious and relaxing bath. The hairdryers are powerful, so lady u need not to bring additional hair dryers anymore. And the hair shampoo and conditioners provided are at good quality, good hairs day. We enjoyed the view of Hanoi, especially at night, overlooked Old Quarter, and lake at far distance. Its good enough for us , as we still can stay away from loud music party but at the same can share the vibrant countown night and some fireworks. Fireworks 2018 in Hanoi town is limited thou. For breakfast selection, is wide variety, in term of taste, is just ordinary. Not too good or not too bad. Overall, we really had wonderful stay in Melia Hanoi!
Nice hotel but needs a facelift”
Stayed there for almost a week around New Year's eve. Location is very convenient - it's in the quiet upmarket French Quarter, within walking distance from most of Hanoi's landmarks, yet outside the noise and hassle of the old quarter and Hoan Kiem lake area. Restaurants are really overpriced by Hanoi standards, but the food is great. Would highly recommend Oriental on the second floor - was probably one of the best dinners we had in Vietnam, great fresh spring rolls, delicious pho soup and fantastic desserts. On a negative side - this hotel definitely needs a serious facelift! Interior probably looked cool and modern in the 80's but now looks tacky and old-fashioned. You can see small signs that rooms and corridors didn't have major repairs in many years - not a major drawback but on the first day this does catch your eye. All components of the excellent hotel are there, but Melia should invest into renovation to keep up with other 5 star competitors. On another negative point, was surprised by the lack of free wi-fi. They charge $12 per day, not that much, but would expect it for free in the upmarket hotel like this.
A breath of fresh air in a dusty city”
I have to say that Melia Hanoi exceeded my expectations - and this is comparing against 5 and 6 star hotels across Asia and Australasia. Not only was the room nice and clean, you notice how impeccably kept it is as edges are free of grime, mould and dust as is the bottom of the bathroom sink (don't ask me why I use that as a reference.... it's my OCD). The bed size was impossibly huge as well, which gave my wife and I the well needed, undisturbed rest after lots of walking. Staff were always friendly and smiling and the ambience was always comfortable. If I come back to Hanoi again, I know where I'll be staying!
Dear Wei, Thank you for staying at the Melia Hanoi Hotel! It is our pleasure to know that you had a good stay with us. We look forward to welcoming you back should your travels bring you to Hanoi in the future. Happy new year to you and your family! Warm regards, Vu Ngoc Anh Guest Experience Team
Friendly and helpful staff”
Enjoyed four nights staying at the Melia. Location was central for walking into the old section of Hanoi or catching a taxi. All the hotel staff were helpful particularly the young woman working outside organising the taxi service, the tour organiser and those on the reception desk. For the price of the hotel, it was surprising and disappointing that the internet/wireless connection was an additional expense. This happened nowhere else during our stay in Vietnam and the Melia was the most expensive hotel.
Perfect location in the cetre of town”
I spent an enjoyable weekend at the Melia during the Thousand Years celebrations. The hotel is within walking distance of Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter. The room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable.I definitely recommend the Sunday Brunch!!
Good Value for Money”
We visited Hanoi and planned to get accomodation for the two nights when we arrived. Our first stop was at the Hilton Opera which we were sadly very disappointed by and so searched via Agoda for something near by. The Melia Hotel came up on top as the favorite and so we took a room there for our final night in Hanoi. The hotel was well located, fully equipped and had friendly, helpful staff. The artwork hanging within the hotel was beautiful and the rooms were very nice. It was very good value for money and we would definately return.
melia hotel ”
Melia hotel truly has been a pleasant experience for my fiance and me. the food at their restaurants are really good albeit slightly expensive. the hotel staff are all friendly and ever ready to provide assistance. will definitely be back in Melia hotel the next time i visit Hanoi. Always remember to tip the bellboys and room service personnel, a happy server will always serve you well.
Great hotel with kind staff”
i have booked the hotel through agoda, i reached the hotel from hanoi airport. i paid usd for a private taxi..car is decent and it's a good drive. once i reached the hotel, i said that i need to checkin at the executive level, they took me to 20th floor, checkin was prompt and the staff are friendly. i stayed in a room on 18th floor. rooms are spacious, bath room is clean and of a good size. room furniture is adequate. i noticed, lobby looks a bit run down, needs a face lift. break fast is standard, noting much to write about. no signature dishes. all the time, staff are quite helpfull and on the last day, i thought of going out for quick city tour. i checked about it with the reception girl at the lounge, she explained me how to go about it and also gave me a copy of vietnam lonely planet. later when called up to give back the book, she suggested me keep the book. i am really impresses. i think her name is ? some thing. overall it is great time melia.. i will sure stay there again.
Fantastic stay, thanks”
I extended our stay here after an enjoying a very memorable few days in Hanoi, this hotel is ideally situated for the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake, the prison, Old Town, Water Puppets, etc. Disappointing that no Free Wifi, Agoda is very misleading on this.
A Touch of Luxury”
Having stayed a couple of nights in a smaller Hanoi hotel, we felt we were in a much more upmarket hotel when we entered the Melia Hanoi. The breakfast buffet was very good, staff were efficient and friendly and we were pleased with the size and comfort of the rooms. Free wifi was available to our room type ("Deluxe"), which was much appreciated. A most enjoyable stay.
Great location, great service”
We had a wonderful time at Melia Hotel. The staff especially those in the executive level were very friendly - helped us locate places around the city. The executive lounge is nicely set-up and offered a variety of food. The room we stayed in was spacious and housekeeping kept it clean and well-stocked. We left our bags with the storage after checking out as our our flight wasn't till later in the evening, no problem. We'll certainly stay in this hotel next time we visit Hanoi.
Excellent location and service”
My daughter and I spent Christmas at this hotel. The hotel was beautifully decorated. Meals were excellent value for money. My daughter had a tummy bug and the hotel spontaneously and immediately sent a doctor to attend to her. We really appreciated that kind of service. Rooms are very spacious and luxurious. Staff are knowledgeable and courteous. I have stayed in Hanoi many times and I think the Melia is by far the best value for money.
Great Hotel, Great Location”
This is my fifth stay in this hotel and it continues to offer everything that I want when travelling. There is a good choice of restaurants in the hotel and many good restaurants within walking distance. It is handy to many attractions in Hanoi and it is an easy walk to most of them. The staff continue their high level of service and are most approachable. Will continue to stay at the Melia whenever I am in Hanoi.
Superb Hotel - as ever!”
Its a delight to stay in the Melia. Away from the hubub of Hanoi itself, the Melia is a delight and the staff are great. Nothing is too much trouble for the team and in the Executive Club, you really are treated like a VIP. I have stayed in the Melia a number of times, and each time its been excellent. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
Great location and friendly service”
The Melia is in a great location for getting anywhere in Hanoi. Convenient for government or business visits and with shopping nearby. The staff were not only friendly but very knowledgeable. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The lunch buffet had wide choice and excellent quality although a little on th eexpensive side. The only downside to the Melia was the internet was not included in the room rate.
