Excellent value for money”
This is my third time at the Merchant Art - this time for 12 days. It's my go-to hotel. I travel to Yangon for business and previously tried several pricier places - Yangon hotels in general can be quite pricey for what you get as compared to hotels in some other cities like Bangkok, which cost more, but are much classier and are good valuefor money. However, for the price, the Merchant Art really delivers and is a great value. I had a corner room that was spacious and while not luxurious, clean, always well-serviced and had everything I needed such as a desk; good lighting and reliable WIFI. The breakfast buffet is a mixture of Asian and Western options; butyou can also order off the menu which has a large choice of egg and other dishes. At the moment, they are refurbishing the roof deck with its beautiful night views of Shwedagon Pagoda all lit up. Therefore, I used room service almost every night and tried many different options on the menu - all were very good to excellent.

Great Hotel with Excellent Views”
We stayed at the Merchant Art Boutique Hotel for a week in May, 2018. Our 6th floor room was clean and comfortable and from the window you could see the amazing golden stupas of the Shwedagon Paya. The roof top, which has a bar and restaurant, is a great place to relax and enjoy an even better view of the Shwedagon Paya temple complex. The staff was very courteous and helpful and the location of this hotel is ideal. If we return to Yangon we will definitely stay at the Merchant Art Boutique Hotel again.

Good Bargain & Good Location”
I enjoyed my stay at Merchant Art Boutique Hotel. I was only there for one night but the staff was friendly and helpful in handling my requests. The rooms were clean and comfortable, however my only criticisms were: there seemed to me no air conditioning in the guest halls. I was staying on the 5th floor and the guest hallway was very hot. Also, the bathroom is all marble and there is no shower curtain, so the water goes all over the floor. The water didn't dry particularly fast and having to walk around on wet marble creates a safety hazard which one must be careful of. Also, there was only one trash bin located at the opposite end of the room by the desk. So when I wanted to throw something out in the bathroom I had to go across the room to throw it out. Adding another trash bin in the bathroom could solve that issue. Just a few small recommendations, but overall would definitely stay again if I returned to Yangon.

Excellently Located ”
Merchant Art Boutique Hotel is excellently between the "Uptown" & "Downtown" Yangon. Close to convenience stores. Staffs at hotel are warm and friendly. Good command of English. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Beds are of good quality and no issue with bathroom. Ample taxis outside hotel. Breakfast spread are good too. Thumbs up and highly recommended to stay at Merchant Art Boutique Hotel.

Pleasant, clean well run Hotel”
The Merchant Art Boutique Hotel is a pleasant, well run, clean Hotel with very helpful staff. It is situated within walking distance of the Shwe Dagon Pagoda, one of the major tourist attractions in Yangon. Yangon has an abundance of very reasonably priced taxis and the commissionaire, was always ready to hail one and tell me what to expect to pay. He also had details of tourist attractions at his finger tips. For example I had decided to visit Scott Market and he was able to advise me straight away that the closing time was 4 PM and it would be ready to close by the time I would arrive. My only complaint is that theDining Room Menu is very limited but adequate. I would certainly recommend this hotel and will use it again on my next visit to Yangon.

Even better than our first stay”
This was our second stay at Merchant Art Boutique Hotel. Each time we booked an "Art Concept" room. This time, our room was toward the back of the hotel at the end of the corridor. It's floor plan was better designed giving more usable space; however, still no closet which didn't negatively affect our stay. The hotel is spotless throughout. The roof at night has a view of Shwedagon that is awesome. You can hear chanting and bells, extending the peacefulness of the view. If drinks are your thing, they're available on the roof. Staff are outstanding in every way. We'd stay here again anytime and recommend it highly.

Perfect location ”
Perfectly situated near the Shwedagon Pagoda, can walk there in under 5mins. Staff are attentive and make every effort to accommodate you during your stay. Rooms are basic, but what more do you need then a clean room and a bed to sleep in! Basic breakfast buffet but can order from menu for delicious extras! We would stay again if we found ourselves back in Yangon. Thankyou Merchant art boutique hotel for our stay!

excellent accommodation”
Merchant is a brand new hotel. Rooms are clean, proper and spacious. Wifi is working properly also in the rooms. It's very close to Schwendagon Pagoda (with an amazing view of it from the upper floors and roof terrace). It's maybe not the best location to go around Yangon (downtown not at walking distance - by taxi 3000K), but very easily connected to the airport (taxi 8000K). The breakfast is good, there's a buffet and a large selection of warm dishes to choose from the menu (1 is complimentary). Also the dinner in the roof terrace is very good, but of course a bit pricy in comparison to Burmese standards. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back. Only little negative point is that breakfast is served starting from 7. Being Yangon a connection city I don't find it very handy if you have a flight in the morning (many guests were waiting in the hall for the restaurant to open). I would suggest to open it at 6.30, as most of the hotels in Myanmar do.

A wonderful stay”
This new clean hotel with welcoming staff was an oasis for us from the heat of Yangon. It's located within walking distance to Shwedagon Pagoda and local markets. There's a bank and good restaurants near by. Breakfast was simple and eggs were prepared as we asked them to be ( this kitchen was one of the few to understand that I wanted an omelette made only from egg whites). Staff couldn't do more to be helpful, friendly and respectful throughout our stay. The only drawback was the room had only hooks on the wall to hang clothing- no closet nor armoire! That said, we booked Merchant Hotel for our return to Yangon in March.

Exceptional”
I would stay here again and wish we walked around the area as there are shops around here. Our first time in Yangon so we didnt know how far the places we wanted to see really were. But the staff here is truly excellent helping us out. I'm happy we opted to pay a few USD more for a larger room as it was well worth it. There was 3 of us to a room and there was plenty of room. I would stay here again passing thru Yangon. Because of traffic, it is far from the area we wanted to be, but getting a taxi from the hotel was never an issue. I do recommend this place ... and the 3D art photos was a lot of fun!

New hotel in best location ”
We booked in Merchant Art hotel and got a nice room. Nevertheless we had no view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. So we asked to change and got the best room, the designer suite on the sixth floor. The view of the pagoda was outstanding. But even if you have a standard room you can use that roof terrace on 7th floor where you have the same outstanding view of the pagoda. Service was perfect and all people were super friendly. Good breakfast

You can't do better for the price”
Merchant is a beautiful small hotel with a quirky but somehow tasteful art decor. It is not downtown where many of the tourist sites are but it is a short $3 taxi ride...there is always taxis in front. The rooms are tasteful and beds are comfortable. Hotels rooms are small in Myamar and Merchants' are relatively large at 25 sm.

Great little hotel in Yangon”
Yangon in general tends to be overpriced, but I think the Merchant is good value. I've stayed here a number of times, and it is always very clean, staff very helpful, great location in the thick of things near Shwedagon, amazing rooftop, and a good breakfast. Only let down is the bathrooms - the showers could have been designed better to keep from flooding the whole bathroom. Still, the Merchant will remain my hotel of choice in Yangon.

Just okay hotel”
Pro: good location, less than 10 mins walking distance to shwedagon Pagoda. A decent breakfast spread with choices of eggs to order. Con: suit room can’t see the view of Shwedagon; therefore I am giving only one star for facility category. Furnishing ? Well.. looks like hotel got a good deal from flea market. I hope they consider the brand of hotel - merchant ART boutique. Rooftop bar is still under construction - unknown. No acoustic in hallways therefore, I can hear the door bang from other end to my room. Sink is smelly but when I use tissue to plug over-flow then it works...

Value for Money”
I visited Yangon 14-21.12.2017. I was staying in Merchant Art for 4 days with family & friends. We have a good experience in Merchant Art Hotel. The hotel is clean, the staff are friendly & also the food is acceptable. The only thing i need to commend is maybe the food need to have more choice. I almost eating the same food during my stay. The others should be great.

Fabulous, quirky hotel with staff that go over & above”
Fabulous, quirky hotel within walking distance of the Shwedagon Pagoda. The rooms were beautifully appointed, and very comfortable. The lobby was stunning, with many pieces of concept art scattered around. Breakfast included a both a buffet and A la Carte menu with extras such as pancakes and toasties. The staff went over and above, helping us get taxis, posting our postcards and facilitating a late check out because I was sick and needed a place to rest. Highly recommend this hotel if you are in Yangon.

Nice hotel, but Shwedagon is not a great location to stay”
Like all things in Myanmar, this was more expensive than it should've been, but was quite nice overall. Room was clean and nice, though the bedside table was a bit full. I had a nice window that allowed me to look over everything outside. The art is not very original so don't expect much. However, shwedagon doesn't have much for a tourist in it's immediate surroundings so finding food was a bit tricky. On the weekends, the traffic was pretty horrendous. The hotel has a nice roof restuarant where you can see the shwedagon though food wasn't special and beer expensive. I'd likely stay in the Chinatown area of yangon next time since that has markets and food easily available

Decent Accommodation”
My wife and I stayed at the Merchant art boutique hotel on 3 separate nights during our trip to Myanmar in October 2017. The location is good with street martkets just around the corner and the must-see Shwedagon Pagoda just 10 minutes walk away. The prices we paid for each night varied quite a bit but for 2 nights we paid around AUD $90/night. At this price, I'd expect the hotel to be a bit nicer; while the paintings and art work that decorated the hotel was a nice touch, in reality it felt more like a 3 star hotel which dim lighting, dated decor and pretty basic amenities.
