Good place to stay, value for money”

Very central location in Adelaide

Accomodation in Adelaide is rather expensive, but we got a good deal at the Mercure Grosvenor where we stayed for a week. We requested a twin room, and when the receptionist saw our 9-year-old boy, we were given a double plus single bed - hence a slightly bigger room. We also had an early check (having arrived at 7 am) without incurring extra cost. Thanks for making us feel at home. The best thing about MG is also its location at North Terrace, which is near Rundle Mall (shopping district), Hindley Street (variety of restaurants) and walking distance from the South Australian Museum and Art Gallery. The tram to Glenelg was just at our doorstep, and the bus stop for the bus to Hahndorf was nearby too (Currie Street).

Review of Mercure Grosvenor Adelaide”

The hotel location was very central, being opposite the Intercontinental Hotel, Metro Railway station, Convention and Festival Centre, UniSA West Campus, Rundle Street shopping and entertainment precinct with free tram services to the major tourist attractions and landmarks. There is a tram stop just outside the hotel (actually right outside of the Strathmore Hotel which is next to the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel). Shopping, sightseeing and food are within 5 to 10 minute walking distance away and the free tram service also runs all the way to Glenelg.
Three negative aspects about the hotel; the first being the room was small for the price we paid, akin to Tokyo’s small hotel room sizes; secondly, an impatient and rather impolite duty reception staff when we checked out and thirdly the bar area in the room looked old and was stained. There was a step at the hotel room's toilet and if one is not careful, can trip over the step. It was rectified during our stay when the hotel management pasted a sign on the toilet door to warn guests to mind the step.

Adelaide is indeed a 20 minute city as described by the taxi driver who sent us from the airport to the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel located at 125 North Terrace. You can get to most parts of the city within 20 minutes. Our stay at the Grosvenor was very pleasant and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is very central and within easy walking distance or by the city's free tram service to places of interest, Rundle and Hindley Streets entertainment and shopping precinct, Convention Centre and the Festival Hall, Casino, UniSA, University of Adelaide campuses and about a 10 minutes taxi ride to the Adelaide Kerswick/Parkland Train Station for the Overland train to Melbourne. We enjoyed our stay in Adelaide very much and hope to revisit the city again.

Right in the heart of the city”

Great location, lovely rooms

This hotel is great for if you are in Adelaide for business or want to be right in the heart of things as it is in the city. Close walk to shops, bars, restaurants. Economy room is fine for a night but for a longer stay i'd recommend the Standard room or upwards as you'll have more space to relax. I always stay at the Mercure Grosvenor whenever i come to Adelaide.

Location Staff Rooms

We used the Mecure Grosvenor Hotel as the ideal central location in Adelaide for our trip to the Adelaide Oval for the football(its only a 10 minute walk). The staff were courteous & very helpful with everything we required, even more so when our flight home was cancelled & we stayed an extra night there and they upgraded us to a better room at a fair price. Will return in the future.

Location is the draw”

Mecure Grosvenor is a stone's throw away from City parks and the Adelaide Festival & Convention Centres. The hotel's public space is dated but the rooms have been refurbished with modernity at best and well-kept. Couple of drawbacks though; 3 AC settings with no temp-control, small basin which had drainage issues and paint was flaking off the bathroom door. Otherwise, comfortable beds and spacious for the rate. Carpark lots are available for $20 a night.

Mercure Grosvenor”

Clear instructions from reception staff, loved the bed spread in the room really brought out the fact that the room was not so small, glad there was a kettle in the room for tea and coffees. Also impressed that with a budget room, there was an alarm clock, iron, iron board.
Such a long walk to room, not much fun when intoxicated or tired.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Mecure Grosvenor, even if it was a short stay for two nights. The reception staff where nice and polite. It was a bit of a journey to my room, I never realized how big the 4th floor was. I also liked my room very much, it was nice and comfy and still I felt like I was living in luxury. I was very impressed with the way it looked, especially the red bed cover which made the room look a lot bigger than it actually was. When I first entered, although I did get confused at one stage thinking I would have to share a bathroom, as I thought the bathroom door was actually a cupboard. Over all I was very impressed and will definitely stay there again. But hope that I get to eat at your Restaurant and also try Room Service. Thank you

Great Location”

Location, Value for Money, Friendly Staff

We chose Mercure Grosvenor as it was so central and in in easy reach of all public transportation. The rooms are adequate, not huge and most of the hotel has been tastefully upgraded. We did have a hire car and whilst the day rate was $18 the actual parking facilities are very cramped and so many concrete pillars to negotiate. All in all though good value for money.

Lovely hotel, excellent location”

* Upgraded to a better room on arrival * Very friendly and helpful staff * Fantastic location close to everything in Adelaide
* Noisy (and very small) fitness room and very noisy lift shaft

We were upgraded instantly when we arrived here, which was nice as we had not been impressed with a previous Mercure hotel. Our room was lovely, clean and well presented, though it was next to the fitness room which had a very noisy shower, and was obviously also near the lift shaft which was again noisy. The hotel is close to Rundle Mall and Rundle Street, and we didn't need to get any public transport to get around, though there is a free tram that passes the hotel. The staff were very helpful with booking a transfer to the train station and also helped me to organise by phone another transfer for later in our trip. Overall, we would recommend and stay again.

Location, Location, Location”

So central to the heart of Adelaide. Cleanliness & service to the room was very thorough. Value for money was excellent.

After having to change room in the middle of the night due to noise outside (young revellers) our window wouldn't close & we couldn't sleep, we resettled into our new room quickly & enjoyed the remainder of our stay. While the budget rooms are small, the bed is up against the wall, we found that the room was clean, comfortable, well stocked and allowed us to enjoy our five day stay in Adelaide. Essentially seeking a place to sleep and rest after busy days enjoying the sights, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom small but functional and clean. Due to its central location the hotel allowed us to access the retail area, Adelaide oval, museums and galleries, zoo & return for a rest before enjoying the nightlife options again close at hand.

Photos of the rooms dont do them justice, which made me hesitant to book the hotel the last time I was in Adelaide. I regret I didnt as I was very happy with it all. Lovely hotel in heart of Adelaide”

Situated directly across from railway line.

This is a lovely hotel situated in the heart of Adelaide. Being directly across form the Adelaide railway station is makes travelling around Adelaide city or its outskirts very easy. It is staffed by very friendly and helpful persons. Unfortunately the room i eas given was a little on the small side but as i was travelling alone this was not a major problem. The hotel itself is quite large inside and a bit of a rabbit warren, you could easily get lost but this only adds to the adventure and the charm of the hotel itself.

My first visit to Adelaide, great to have stayed in Mercure, strategic location and warm welcoming staff makes me feel very much at home. The room facilities are great especially the comfy bed and pillow which to me is the most important when I go traveling. The only uncomfortable experience is with the door key which I always have problem when opening the door though I have stayed for almost a week.
