Very happy stay in Amsterdam”
First of all, I emphasize we are very happy with our stay at Mercure. One objection is the price of breakfast which is 22 euros. But you can book breakfast ahead when you check in for half that price. Still 11 euros is fairly pricey. And, since there are no restaurants within walking distance, it's practically necessary to eat breakfast there. THe breakfast bar was good, however. I thought the distance to walk with luggage to and from the train station was a little far but my husband, who was pulling the suitcase, thought it was fine and pointed out our walk to the tube from home in London is no further. Otherwise, our stay was great. The staff were consistently courteous and went out of their way to arrange for an extra night when the hotel was already booked solid. They had, for five euros, a boat that picked us up at the hotel on the river and took us on a tour and to town. This was available in at 9:45 and 10:00 a.m. The room was fresh and clean and spacious and had a view looking out to the east over the river on which the hotel is situated. The sunrises were spectacular. The food in the restaurants was good and there is a nice patio adjacent to the dining room which sits right on the river bank. Very pleased
Good location near Rai Exhibition Hall”
mercure hotel amsterdam city is very close to rai exhibition hall, only 15 minutes walking distance and 1 stop from metro to rai stop. hotel room is comfortable and hotel staff is friendly and willing to help the guest in many matters. hotel also provide daily free coffee for all the guest.
The hotel was absolutely perfect! We was looking for a hotel with a good location and this couldn't have been better! We was bang I'm the middle of the city and all the bars, shops and cafes was on out doorstep literally! The service in the hotel was amazing, every member of staff was so friendly and very helpful telling us everything we needed to know for our visit. The rooms were very clean and basic just what we needed and there was a safe and TV for extra comfort. The beds themselves was surprisingly very comfortable every night I had a good night sleep! The best thing about the hotel had to be the location and the staff, and the only thing I can fault is there was scaffolding up while we were staying but you couldn't help that! I would 100% stay again and I am already planning my next visit back to Amsterdam and city hotel!
Very nice hotel but far from the center of city”
The staff were absolutely incredible in helping me try to contact friends that live in Amsterdam. The room was very clean, modern, and comfortable. And free WiFi throughout the entire hotel! The only issue I had with this hotel was its location, but I knew that when I booked because I got a great deal so it wasn't a big deal.
Basically the same standard as other mercure hotels. Be aware then in Netherlands you do not get standard slippers or drinking water (as usually they advise the tap water). Price is expensive compared to other countries, but not abnormal for amsterdam. Staff is very correct and helpfull.
Very Lovely Hotel”
the hotel itself was quite a distance from the city central. it was also not very close to the metro or the tram so it would be slightly expensive to take the cab after a shopping spree. however, my daughter & i did not mind the distance of the public transportation as the walk to the station was certainly enjoyable. the hotel was situated in a quiet location. the rooms were excellent, very comfortable & spacious. we had breakfast buffet which was also a delight as there were a good selection of food. it was a busy day when we checked-in but the staff were all too accomodating. but the best part was the check-out as it was hassle free. no need to wait in line to be served by a staff. we had a very enjoyable stay in this hotel!
Modern and clean. Easy access to metro.”
This hotel was a good choice. Not very close to the city center but an easy 10 min walk to the metro. Check in was very thorough. I had a nice view of the river and the room was very clean.
Kiwis in Amsterdam”
On arrival the young gentleman was as rude as I've meet, enquired as to parking and told carpark is full to park on street until something available. I protested telling him I will just leave the car out front, then he offered parking explaining the procedure, push speaker & he would open barrier, after 5 min of pushing speaker button my wife went to reception finally entry was gained with many parks available, we then had to pull our cases from carpark to the room, (so much for valet parking). Next morning wife goes outside for cigarette becomes stuck in lift due to card not being activated then unable to get in room on return, I was in shower and not hear her, when I finished I heard banging on door, I find wife in hall crying and distressed. Room on first night was cold and no way to increase temperature, had to request a heater. Finally and not making accusations but when we arrived at our next destination a mobile phone we bought in France (90e) was missing, we never used it in Holland as not work there so had no reason to take with us during the day times and can not see how we lost it. Again not making accusations towards staff but find it hard to understand how it could become lost. I choose the Mercure because it had parking and didn't realise it was charged at 25e per night, had I realised this most likely would have chosen a Hotel in central part of city leaving car at a parking station for same cost, this was my mistake by not investigating further In our country parking is free with accommodation. We did enjoy our stay in Amsterdam but your food prices reflect your isolation very expensive.
The staff at Mercure were the highlight. It was such an enjoyable stay.
Very disappointing. The title is Mercure Amsterdam City. It is a long way from the centre and there are no nearby supermarkets. The Metro station is a decent walk. The hotel was not as clean as it should be for 4 stars (the carpet on our floor needed vacuuming. The window latch was faulty, one lift was faulty, the toilet seat was loose. The USB charger was faulty. There was no milk and only paper cups. We had to ask for towels to be replaced.Bar meals were too large and no part orders were available. Having said that, the staff were friendly and responsive .
Lovely stay in amsterdam”
The room was lovely and very clean I enjoyed my stay I did not mind it was out of the city nice and quiet The whole hotel was wonderful and the staff were fantastic
Really nice hotel!”
This is a great hotel and other than the distance from the Centre of Amsterdam, I can't complain. If you plan to visit the centre not using taxi's than you probably will need to make use of the Metro Rail, which is easy to use, but it is a distance to walk to from the hotel.
the staff is a really important thing for me in a hotel, and the staff here are wonderful, helping me with my queries and a very friendly with me and my family. room was big and very clean. breakfast spread was reasonable. other than the location, everything else is wonderful.
Well connected making it easy to get to the city centre, airport and the arena. On site facilities great, shop selling food 24/7, nice bar and restaurant. Staff service excellent.
Too far from everything ”
Was too far from everything, it was hard to find in the night getting the train on arrival. It would be good if you didn't want to spend your days in the city. We wished we had of stayed closer to the city, there were many places. It seemed to be full of business people,
All you need for a hotel”
Not too luxury, not too cheap. Just enough for a hotel. Clean and with reasonable distance from public transport, airport and city center. Friendly and helpful staff!
Satisfied points @Room; enough large for one person, very comfortable @WIFI; it was unlimited and speedy Unsatisfied points @Location; it is a big far south from city center @Elevator; it was too slow to catch the elevator for going down in the morning. I stayed 14th floor and was able to get into it 10 minutes later after putting the button.
A good standard of hotel considering price charged”
Location of the hotel involves a 10 minute walk to the Metro and instructions from staff did not include a warning that on return to the station you were on a different side and street which meant we got lost and walked for over an hour to try and find the hotel. The location was quiet and amenities were good.
Great and clean hotel ”
The hotel was great but a bit further from central than we thought but one tram (about 10 min walk) takes you straight to Central Station. Hotel is in a nice and quiet business area.
great value good staff good food”
we had a great time, easy access to city, and within walking distance of park and shops
