Beautiful hotel with quiet private beach”
We loved our stay at Fenix Resort, we could have happily stayed longer! The resort is quite beautiful, with a lovely clean pool overlooking a private beach on Samui Island. Most people head to the centre of Chaweng or Lamai when heading to Koh Samui, but those places are packed. So if that doesnt matter and you want to be where the action is, then head there. Fenix Resort is not in the action packed centre of Lamai, but it is an easy walk there so it suited us perfectly. This way we could enjoy a calm, empty beach whenever we wanted it. I kept marveling at how at times we really were the only people at that part of the beach. Food at the restaurant was extremely tasty, but prepared to pay a little more (like any restaurant). The rooms are large with balconies and are very clean. Also the beds are HUGE! Breakfast is a typical Asian resort breakfast, not spectacular but is fine and it does have a fresh eggs/omelette station. I would definitely recommend staying here, it was relaxing, beautiful and the staff were extremely helpful.

Great place for honeymoon”
This is very nice family hotel! Located not so close and not so far from Lamai center - it takes around 5 to 10 minutes to get to the Lamai Main street by motorbike. And around 20-25 minutes to Chaweng. It's a quiet place for families with children or couples. It is for people who want some rest from big city noise, croudy plaices and noise. So we started our day at 9am at breakfast, continued it in front of pool till 11-12pm and then went somewhere on Koh Samui. And it always was great pleasure to return to our hotel in the evening. Have some rest and relax and then u can go hanging out in Lamai or Chaweng. Pool was great but i can't say this about the sea. Seaside is rocky and it's not fun to swim in the sea. But we've got that experience in many other locations across the island, so we're okay with that)) Good fact is that Fenix's beach is quite private. It's not the same beach as in Lamai. So u don't warry for your staff or privacy. U can even be alone at the whole beach sometimes! It's great! Rooms: not every room is in excellent condition. But we asked to change the room and we got very nice room. So be kind and don't afraid to ask. Breakfast: I love to eat. For us breakfust was just fine. U can choose between smashed eggs, muesli, juices, fresh fruits and vegetables, bread and cheese, and even some local thai food like soups or vegetables with chicken or pork. I think it's comletely enough. Oh, of course u will be served with tea or coffee - and it is good coffee. So! We really can recommend this hotel. If u want relax, if u don't wanna hurry, u want some silence - go to Fenix. As for us, we've found some other places far from cities, but i won't tell u where they are 'coz this is gonna be your trip :) Good luck!

Very good accomodation, will stay again.”
Granted I've only stayed at five resorts in Samui to-date (excluding Fenix), this one is so far the best I've stayed at. We originally planned our stay with Coconut Beach resort for five days but left there on the second day and came to the Fenix resort. Fenix resort collected us from Coconut Beach resort and upon arrival were very warming with their welcome and assisted us to our room. The hotel even upgraded us at no charge (but obviously we just got lucky, this isn't to be expected every time). The room at first sight was clean, spacious, massive bed, decent lighting (many hotels/resorts have such poor room lighting). The balcony and view was great, however I feel sorry for those below us as our room did overlook all other remaining balcony's, fortunately we didn't have anyone above us that could overlook our balcony. The in-room wifi can be a bit temperamental, but is usually OK. Otherwise I have no complaints about this resort. It's close to a couple of attractions already, overlap stone, valentine stone, hin ta/hin yai rocks. They also provide free shuttle service into Lamai main street. As a suggestion too, walk up the road for about 5 minutes and find a rental shop by the name of M.A Travel. They can assist you with bike rental (even if you forgot to bring your license like I did), boat trips and even a transfer back to the airport. The hotel transfer is a bit more expensive so easier to use this kind of shop.

Fantastic Service”
A great value for money resort with great service. Had to reschedule my trip due to an untimely injury. Emailed the resort's main email and the GM replied. Managed to book the ground floor villa since I can't climb stairs properly. Location: A 20 mins drive to busy Chaweng, 30 mins from airport. Quiet and peaceful. Rent a car and you can get around easily. Its Samui, you find food and convenience store at every corner. Its Thailand, so any food won't go wrong. Room: Stayed 5 nights at Villa 1. Beach Front. spacious with a Jacuzzi. Clean. Limited cable channels though. Breakfast: Decent spread. Excellent Service Lamai: The Sunday walking street is a great place to eat-walk or walk-eating. Shopping is optional.

Very modern, upmarket, clean comfortable hotel”
great hotel and very warm, accommodating staff. the hotel is near new, very modern by design and located in lamai, about 20 mins via scooter to all the action in chaweng. we were upgraded at no charge to a poolside villa room, so that was a wonderful surprise. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the mercure samui fenix hotel and we will be going back!

WOW! Super Helpful Staff and Great Location ”
Where to begin! We moved here after originally staying in Choengmon. Sadly that was too quiet for my liking. Having stayed at this Southern edge of Lamai before I was drawn to the area again. On arrival we found that we had overlooked the fact that the pool was undergoing a refurb for September. However we gave it a chance as the staff offered to upgrade our room to retain our business. The room we were shown was fantastic with an enormous bed ( couldn't reach the edges when laying sideways). Located just South of Grandmother and Grandfather Rock the hotel was actually outside the main town by a good walk, but we generally paid 200 baht for 4 of us into town if necessary. Thus we had relatively quiet stay away from the crazy bars with the option to go out to the town when needed. The hotel is on the main road, but when the door is closed and the air con is on you can't really hear too much anyway. Breakfasts were a good assortment of UK, European and Thai. Often had a bit of a laugh as to what egg we might get after ordering, but never a problem, but just make it clear when you ask ( use the pictures ). Now back to that pool. It was quite frustrating that the pool already looked great and almost finished when we arrived, yet not ready for us until our last day. To help overcome this the staff arranged for us to use the pool at the Weekender in Lamai. (Their staff were great too and looked after us with food and cocktails all day, plus the pools were excellent too) . In summary I would highly recommend the Fenix for those wanting a reasonably quieter location within spitting distance of the usual bars. Good beaches without the crazy noise of Chaweng beach bars.

Nice modern hotel with a great view.”
I booked this hotel at very short notice while in Samui. I was not even sure where it was. When i first saw it I was concerned about the location as it is on the main road. Once I got to my room that all changed. I had a great view of the beach and the pool. The room was very clean and the bed was huge!! The location was not a problem as there was no noise forom the road which made it very easy to get around. It is a short distance to lamai and there is scooter hire directly accross the road. I would stay at this hotel again. I actually increased my stay another 2 days.

Beautiful and relaxing ”
I came to Koh Samui to relax and the place was great for that. However next time I will bring a friend as it's very romantic. Lamai is very quiet and not much to do. 200 baht taxi to go in at night. During the day the hotel provides free transportation Cheweng is busier and more activity and fun. 400 baht taxi each way. The pool is great and the place is beautiful I suggest getting the massage package (pay for 3 and get 4). Getting a massage while hearing the surf is pretty cool. The Villas are nice but the drawback is you don't have a view of the water Down the beach is the Rock Bar. It's a live music venue right on the beac. You have to access it by road however (take the road to the right just before Famiky Mart) It's a pretty cool place to hang out

The resort was very pleasant with a quiet beach”
the staff were all very friendly and helped in any way they could. the location of the resort was just outside from the hustle and bustle of many other resorts in lamai beach, but close enough to walk, perhaps 1 to 2 klms from the main centre of lamai. there are two great restaurants literally next door to the resort - which you can get to from the beach. other shops like 7 eleven, scooter hire and tailor are all just a couple hundred metres away.

Everything we were looking for”
room was great, beds were big and comfortable. pool and beach front were excellent, loved the outdoor ping pong table, had an (admittedly small) gym. food was on par with what you would expect to pay at a nicer place like this, but quality was just average. had a free shuttle to downtown koh samui, where you can find easily find any traveling/adventuring/dining/partying you are looking for. perfect in that it was close, but resort still had an isolated feel.

A nice place to relax on Lamai Beach.”
I stayed in this hotel for 4 days during my trip to Samui island. The hotel is pretty good in overall. Their staff have full survice-mind. Hin-ta Hin-Yai, a famous place on Samui island, is in a walking distance (~5-10 min). The hotel's pool and fitness are also nice and located on the beach side. Happy hour promotion for cocktail drinks are available in the Nest Pool Bar. :) Cool!!.. I would recommend this hotel if you want to get a full energy refill. However, it is a bit far from the tourism places and activities on Chaweng beach.

lovely hotel - staff were lovely. ”
very enjoyable - we loved koh samui and the fenix resort. it was nice to come back to the hotel after a day out sightseeing, which is in a quiter area of the island. it was nice to have the option of going into the busier parts for shopping or staying at the hotel just to relax without having lots of people around. very private.

Average hotel”
Our stay at the Fenix Beach Resort was quite comfortable. The sea and beach view was wonderful. However, the sea level was too shallow for swimming and there was no fish at all. The lounge area around the swimming pool was very lovely. However, some tiles at the bottom or edge of the swimming pool needed urgent repair. I have seen a total of two children got their toes cut by these broken tiles. The resort was far from the Lamai centre. We took the hotel shuttle bus to get to Lamai centre (the last one departs at 7 pm) and had dinner at the night market. Taking a tuk tuk back to the hotel, which was a 5 to 10 minutes' journey cost us B150 each. Transportation cost on Koh Samui is unreasonably high.

Great hotel ”
we stayed at this hotel for the week of christmas and really enjoyed our stay. we had a beautiful room overlooking the pool and beach. the rooms are spacious with a massive comfy bed. the hotel is located a little bit out of the centre of lamai but that didn't bother us. the hotel does offer a free shuttle to the centre. can't comment on the breakfast as we did not have it included in our package but we did eat at the little shop directly across the road each day. the lady who owns this shop made delicious breakfast and other foods for us each day and even gave us discount because we ate there ever day. this hotel is perfect for a nice and relaxing getaway.

Perfect holiday, Great hotel”
Hotel was opened 6 months ago (aprox. May 2009) so everything is new and very nice. Rooms have new furniture. Pool area is big and clean and hotel has a small private beach. Location is a bit further from the centre of Lamai beach but it is not a problem as you can rent a motorbike or car just across the street in front of the hotel for very good money cca (180 Bath per day) or you can use a hotel shuttle twice a day free of charge. Definitely great choice to visit this hotel!!!!Great vlue for money!!!

Excellent hotel in a quiet location”
The Fenix Beach Resort Samui is out of the busy Chaweng area and is in a quiet location with their own private beach. It takes about 15-20min to get into the main Chaweng area so it is still easily accessible by car/bike/taxi. The hotel offers kayaks for free to use at the beach or if you don't like the beach, the large pool overlooks this anyway. Staff were friendly and quick to assist where possible and food and drinks from the pool bar were reasonably priced. There is also a great thai restaurant next door worth trying.

Lovely hotel with beautiful beach”
Very pleasant stay with pleasant staff who lent their facilities free of charge (eg; adaptor). Do bring your own adaptors!! It helps that Mercure Samui Fenix is a minute's walk away from the best Thai restaurant in Samui, Sabeinglae! incredible food!

Great relaxing getaway”
Overall experience was amazing, check in was quick and the reception allowed us to view a couple of rooms before deciding which room. We came in late around 8pm and the receptionist recommend a restaurant just 20m next door, a great thai seafood restaurant with a good view, good food with reasonable price. We had great dinner. Our room was lovely, with huge window and private balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. The bed is comfortable with a lot of power plugs available everywhere. tips. you need a car or motorbike to get around and try the lamai view point around 600m from the hotel, quite a bit of a hike, but the view is breathtaking.
