Honest and true
Staff were really helpful
My expectations of the hotel were not met. I expected better quality facilities, from the buildings to the rooms I was really disappointed from what I pictured macure hotel to be.

ok, but not the treat it was meant to be
comfortable beds
room was a little shabby - no doors to wardrobe and only one bedside shelf - but beds were really comfortable and room was warm without being overheated. the pool (which was the reason for us choosing the hotel) was out of order and staff didn't seem to realise that using another hotel's pool (however great the facilities are) downgraded what was meant to be a real treat to much the same deal as using my membership of the local council leisure centre. We never ate in the restaurant - only rated as it was a required field - the food was expensive, but apparantly you can use a taste card.

On a bypass in Watford; excellent staff; comfy bed
The beds were comfortable! And the breakfast restaurant staff were utterly marvellous and obliging.
My daughter and I stayed for two nights while we went to the Harry Potter studio tour nearby. We had a great deal on a room at the Mercure and having stayed at the chain before in France I know they're good-quality and comfortable hotels. The hotel is on a bypass, so is away from the town centre. This makes it easier to find, but there are few amenities nearby. HOWEVER, there are a Toby Carvery, a McDonalds and a Chinese restaurant all very close by - the McDonalds was right next door, which was very convenient when you have a fussy 9 year old to feed. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but to be honest, the prices are expensive and the menu isn't inspiring. At £12.50 for a burger and fries, we ate elsewhere. But that was the only downside to the hotel. We had the buffet breakfast, which was excellent and very varied. The breakfast staff were absolutely wonderful and very helpful. Likewise, the reception staff were also very friendly and welcoming as well as being efficient. Checking in and out didn't take very long. The room was spacious and well-furnished, though the views were never going to be amazing (on a bypass, remember). Lovely big fluffy towels, warm duvets, two pillows on each bed and properly comfortable mattresses. I am a heavy lady and have had a few trips ruined by uncomfortable beds. These were excellent. I felt it was an excellent hotel for the price and would happily recommend it to anyone else. And if the Mercure management are reading this, please pat your staff on the back - they are getting everything right, especially breakfast.

rooms basic but perfect for what we needed
nice bar and ok food
Used hotel for getting to challenge cup final. Quite easy to get to the ground via the train. Hotel food was ok, room ok. Overall pleasant stay. Would use again. The hotel is in reasonable taxi ride of watford centre for drinks after.

Good place to stay, nothing fancy
Good sized room for a wheelchair user, friendly service.
The platform stair life was working some of the time.. The alternative route meant going outside, regardless of the weather, and taking wheelchair down a step or over the grass. Wheelchair ramps are too steep for comfort. It's a shame as the rest of the hotel is fully accessable and the staff are frienldy and helpful.

Just an average hotel
Location was okay good facilities
Stayed there for a friends wedding. Good wedding with the staff going the extra mile to make sure everything ran smoothly. Hotel is standard hotel but has good facilities which we didn't use.

Comfortable and convenient
close to shopping and train stations
Convenient as a base while visiting family or as a cheaper alternative to staying directly in London. Nothing remarkably great or awful, but it definitely lives up to the standards of other Mercure hotels. The gym has a surprisingly wide selection of equipment as well. The rooms are clean and the beds firm

Okay hotel
We were staying for two nights at the hotel for a wedding. the wedding was great and the staff were very attentive. The hotel had facilities including a swimming pool but we didn't bring out swimming shorts so were unable to use them. Hotel is located near the m1 so easy to get too. Good hotel overall
