Great location, excellent service with friendly staff, and a plus for cleanliness. Will return.”
We had a fantastic weekend in Sydney with The Mercure stay a highlight. We caught the train from the Hunter Valley to Central station walking the short distance to the hotel. When registering the reception staff member upgraded us to the Privileged Floor, a very pleasant surprise. The hotel decor attributes rail heritage, views over Railway Square wonderful, King size bed comfortable with an option to call Housekeeping and request specific pillows and everything new and spotlessly clean. Bathroom was white & grey marble, large shower head and quality bathroom products including a personal manicure set and toothbrush/paste. We loved being so close to Spice Alley for street food, funky bars and other boutique hotels for rooftop bars & cocktails. The shopping centre within a 5 min walk has a well stocked bottle shop, food court & supermarket. Breakfast was excellent, I commented as much to staff and duty supervisor. Very busy with 750 people in 3 hrs but all went seamlessly.

Dear Maree, Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us back in December. I will share your feedback with our team. We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back again in the near future.
Mercure Sydney Hotel”
I am glad that my family decided to stay at Mercure Sydney Hotel. It was an additional pleasant experience for my vacation in Sydney. The concierge team was very helpful. The room was clean. I like the ideas of providing a variety of pillows on a bed – very comfortable. I also like a lamp on the table. Unlike some hotels, it is bright enough for me to read books.

Convenient location, clean and comfortable room”
The Mercure Sydney was in a great location- a minute walk into Railway Square and walking connection to the Central Railway Station which goes directly to and from Sydney Airport. I arrived quite early and they didn't have room ready, but gave me access to a hospitality suite to clean up and then stored my luggage and delivered it to my room when ready as I headed out to see the city. The hotel is located close to a free city bus (555) that helps you see sites between Railway Square and Circular Quay. It is good to take to the Circular Quay to then grab ferries to other sites such as zoo, Manly Beach, and buses to Bondi area. I didn't eat in the hotel, so I cannot comment on the food. The only real negative of the hotel is the lack of free internet- they give you a card if you ask to use in lobby for 30 minutes free a day, but if you want it in the room, it is expensive.

Great & accessible location”
Although the hotel is not located at the central of the Sydney CBD like Town Hall, this hotel is still considered as good as it is near to the Central train station where I can take train and tram during my trip. It takes about 5-8 mins walk to the station. The hotel is not considered as new and it is clean enough for me. Unfortunately, this hotel does not offer free wifi, not even in the hotel lobby. As an Internet-savvy, this is a pain throughout my stay in Mercure Sydney.

Great location, professional staff”
The hotel is well located to enjoy the town’s attractions. Our room was big, modern, with comfortable bed and linen, minibar and had great city view. Staff was excellent and did fantastic job when told us about what is best to see and do in Sydney. Thanks to them we visited Featherdale Wildlife Park, Olympic Park, Darling Harbour and we took advantage of the opportunity of seeing John Cena in a wrestling gala. Internet Wi-Fi is free just in the lobby (for 30 min). We used a taxi to the airport (38 AUD one-way and 22 AUD return), but the hotel is close to Sydney Central Railway Station that goes directly to Sydney Airport. There is also a free shuttle bus 555 travelling all the way up to Circular Quay.

great location, big bed”
Have been to Sydney numerous time but never stay in Mercure. This is one of the best stay I had in sydney. Nice layout room, big and comfy beds and comes with bathtub. Just next to central station, so location is superb. There are a lot of eateries along the underpass link to central station, I found a german bread shop serving really nice seeded bread, brought 9 back home and still taste good after the next day. Will definitely stay in Mercure again. The only downside, why no free wifi?

Service with a Smile”
my travelling companion and i enjoyed our two nigts at the mercure. this is a reasonably priced, well-run and conveniently located hotel, perfect for a couple of days exploring the sights of sydney. i would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to other young travellers like myself, looking for a comfortable bed and hearty breakfast, close to the heart of this fabulous city.

Central & enjoyable hotel”
We stay at the Mercure at least once a year when we are travelling overseas. It is so convenient - close to bus and train transport and restaurants. It is always comfortable and clean and staff are well trained and always helpful. When our shuttle bus was late the manager arranged for us to travel to the airport in a taxi. He paid the difference which we thought was excellent service. We recommend the Mercure Sydney as it is always dependable.

Great stay at mercure sydney hotel, a very quick walk from central station, greeted by a lovely receptionist who we had a great chat with, had our room upgraded and free wifi for 24 hours. Excellent Location coupled with excellent service”
An extremely comfortable and relaxing stay. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and always welcomed any query with a broad smile. Located right in the middle of the Sydney CBD, the hotel offers walking distances to shopping malls and major attractions in sydney. All in all, a hotel which offers complete value for money.

Great staff. Always friendly and very helpful.”
The hotel is situated within easy walking distance from Central Station and this is the reason I chose this particular hotel. I thought it was a very nice, clean and well-appointed room. The thing that really stood out for me was the helpful staff. I would definitely stay at the Mercure Sydney again. The thing I think most Australian hotels could do to improve is to provide free Wifi. Internet access in Australia is far too expensive when it should be free. The buffet breakfast was nice and I would like to thank the Mercure for catering for gluten intolerant people by labelling the foods clearly and also providing gluten free bread. Thanks!

Pleasant, comfortable and enjoyable! ”
Mercure Sydney Hotel is centrally located. Central train station / tram station 5 - 8mins away. Bus stop to take the free public shuttle bus no 555 is just outside the hotel. 8-10mins walk to Paddy's Market/Market City Mall. Hotel staff were very friendly and attentive.

Mercure Sydney”
Large hotel of over 500 rooms located at the top of George Street on the very edge of the Sydney CBD. Only 5 mins walk to Central station interstate and country trains and 10 mins walk to suburban and city loop trains. Many suburban bus routes operate from outside hotel. Good size rooms and bathrooms, basic furniture, internet connection available. Room lighting is not well thought out, particularly for reading in bed. Refrigerator in room but no mini bar. "Smart Bars" located on each floor, swiping room card for purchases. Prices described as "competitive" but are actually quite expensive. Reasonable room service menu and prices but several take aways, convenience stores and eating options nearby. An inconvenience is that all lighting goes off immediately key card is removed from slot (no 15-30 second delay) and air conditioning needs to be manually reset each time you enter room. You must pay charges to park a car at this hotel. All in all is reasonable value for a good location, particularly when available on Agoda at a competitive price.

check the view if that matters to you”
Room itself was OK but worst view from a hotel room, onto dilapidated buildings, booked from pics overlooking city views. But told they were another $100, and especially as it had been booked through Agoda, and they had to pay commission to agoda. there was nothing they could do. It is also annoying that the Mercure website advertises rooms from$ 152, but that was not available. I had booked there as part of a business group recommendation, and understood that we were getting a special deal. But apparently my secretary did not make the booking direct, instead through Agoda. Other hotels have also said they allocated the worst rooms to bookings through any of the sites like agoda, last minute, bookings.com etc. Even if they had better rooms empty. In fairness Mercure did give us a complimentary bottle of de bortoli wine, and a good bottle at that, not a cheapie

Excellent location, service and save some bucks”
The Pluses: Prompt reply to my query. Welcoming smiles at reception, efficient check-in and check-out. As we arrived earlier than the check-in time of 2pm, and our room was not ready, we were offered the hospitality room. Appreciated with thanks. The superplus is the location. A five minute walk to/from Central Station. The bus-stops are just a two-minute walk from the hotel. From the main entrance to the hotel on George St, walk straight on and in five minutes, you will see Market City on your left ie on Ultimo St. That's where Paddy's Market and ChinaTown are. Outside Paddy's Market ( the entrance which faces the Darling Entertainment Mall) is the bus stop which takes you to the Sydney Fish Market. Capitol Theatre is 5 mins walk away. What can be better. An enticing pillow menu was offered. However, when I called housekeeping on line7, there was an automatic message to place our request on line 5 which was a call-back line. Got my pillows on my fourth call. The pillow slip on both the pillows desperately needed a wash. The pillow slip on the V-pillow was, noticeably dirty. Also, our room did not have an arm-chair and we had to request for one. The only chair available was the chair at the desk. Note, there is nowhere to place your luggage bag except on the floor or on the bed. You'd need to request for a luggage rack to save yourself from sitting on the floor. The hospitality room would do well to have a laundry basket. The towels used by the previous guests were left hanging in the bathroom. Dirty cups were also left on the drinks counter. Hints : Note: there is 30 minute complimentary use of the internet. Easy to miss this. A free bus ie the Green Bus no 555 runs on a circular loop from bus-stop B just outside the hotel. Also there are free walking tour ie Sydney sights Tour and The Rocks. Have look at the brochure stand in the hotel. The brochure is titled 'Free tours' www.imfree.com.au/.

Fantastic Stay”
The hotel was fantastic. It's located very close to central station and bus stop which make it easy for me to reach sydney public transport. The hotel is also within walking distance to darling harbour, paddys market, indonesian restaurant, and sydney CBD. The check in and check out process were fast and the staffs were friendly. The room is spacious and with the view of Sydney's pitt street and george street. However, I think the hotel is a bit old in terms of its facilities, however with the money I paid it was so worth the money.
