Convenient and elegant hotel though pretty old ”
We have made a Lao trip coming from Houay Xai, Luang Prabang finally to Vientiane, already the 7th time. We like Mercure Hotel, even it's coming into years. The serving staff should be trained more. (But they took care of us.) Gnerally said, the staff is very (!) friendly
Dear Niklaus, Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear your experienced staying with us. At Mercure Vientiane, our priority is our service to our guests. Your feedback is very important to us and we will always improve our service. Thank you for your feedback. Best regards, Benny Omar Guest Service Executive
Mercure a world class Accomodation”
I've stayed in a few Mercure hotels around the World. The best was Mercure in Scotland in 2011, as it was a new property opened up recently. Mercure Vientiane is not as modern looking as the one in Scotland, but it has it's rustic beauty. I was pleased with the hotel. The only disappointment was, on the day i was about to check out there was a notice sent that there will be a power shut down due to upgrading works at 8am. So, i had to wake up earlier, at 7am to take my shower. But, the power was shut down as early as 7.30am, while i'm still in the shower & in darkness. Very bad experience indeed.
Good location with excellent staffs”
First of all, I would like to thanks to the whole team for giving me a excellent service & making my stay comfortable. Especially, I would like to thanks Mr. Salim, he's a very friendly, helpful & kind person. He gave special attention to all The guests & make our stay memorable. He's also very knowledgable about Laos cultural & sightseeing places. If I have a chance to go back to Laos I'll definitely stay there again. Thank you so much to Mr. Salim & all the staffs.
comfortable stay but a bit pricey”
This is the 2nd best hotel I've stayed at in Laos. The room was comfortable but there were renovations taking place in a room nearby which made it impossible to sleep in the afternoon. Numerous complaints and suggestions finally brought the noise to an end. .The food was excellent, fresh and delicious albeit slightly more expensive than the surrounding restaurants...great tasting coctails and a nice breakfast.. Location was excellent and everything I needed was close by. The staff were reasonable and spoke acceptable english and were helpful. AirCon in the rooms were great but the fitness centre is ill-equipped and outdated. I wont be back here because I found a better place for less money... happy days
the hotel was about 15-20 minutes from wattay internatioinal airport. all staffs were extremely professional, courteous and friendly. the room was very clean and comfortable with all facilities available. the hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the mekong river, 3km walk to patuxey park via avenue lane xang and the morning market. it was a pleasant stay and enjoyable experience at the hotel in vientiane in general.
the hotel is near from airport, less than ten mins by car. its under rennovation of swimming poor and restaurant during my stay in Jan 2011. but it doesn't matter so much. hotel vehicle bring us to another pool.
Check in was efficient, the journey from the airport was easy and service was friendly. The rooms were well maintained and the pool was clean. Breakfast was what one would expect from such a hotel, but also had some variety in the form of cooked meats, salamis, cheeses and breads which was a pleasant change from the norm. All in all good value for money.
Novotel Vientiane Hotel”
I stay at Novotel Vientiane. This hotel it very nice and near the center. Staff there good service. When i arrived to the hotel have a little problem.I booking for a standard queen bed. It's cheap price in this website
Average 3 to 4 star, No complaints”
Main reason for us to choose this hotel was it had a tennis court and was quiet close to most things to see in Vientiane. All things worked well and for what we paid we were satisfied. The tennis court was in reasonable condition and the pool was very nice. The staff generally were kind although some had very little English skills and just said yes to everything but their hearts seemed in the right place so thank you to all of them.
No satisfied ”
We were not happy at this hotel and checked out early . The bed was hard with 2 singles pushed together one higher then other and rooms were cold and uncomfortable. Big argument on front desk not happy at all . On a positive note I contacted agoda and they arranged full refund for remaining two nights and were very easy to deal with and resolved our problem straight away and this why we only book with agoda . Peter and Tania Australia
prices expensive, rooms small and poor cleanest, rooms requirement very poor”
This hotel not conviene for food, that's nothing around the hotel area! It's been state at town but can't see any shop around! Poor experience! But the stuff and manager are good to communicate with! All the equipment have to upgrade!
decent but dated”
The hotel from outside and entrance is impressive as well as the pool area - however the rooms are dated and in need of a touch up, new TV, curtains that sort of thing. I would probably stay again but not in a huge rush - not bad but rooms need a bit of a overall
helpful friendly n efficient staff..”
Generally satisfactory considering the economical price that i paid..2 things i am not happy were...airport transfer to hotel should automatically be provided and not as per request...secondly should provide free breakfast for all guests for whatever price paid...i would rate this hotel as 3.5 stars
Old rooms and moody staff”
= The staff is unfriendly and in some cases even impolite. The rooms are not as on the photos, the rooms are like from the 80's and the TV is probably almost 15 years old as well. = absolutely no value for money. Will never stay there again.
good location, declining standards, high price”
In general this hotel can still be regarded as a very decent, charming hotel, but it seems like standards are declining. The breakfast options are limited and stingy, levels of English spoken by night staff is limited, and the miniscule "gym" have all led me to look elsewhere. Have found another hotel with a slightly better gym, nicer pool, very nice rooms for a cheaper rate, though not located right on the mekong - not listed on agoda...Chanthapanya.
Clean and big room but internet was slow”
It was good but noise from street was bad in the morning and also noise from next door. Internet Wifi was not good condition from my room. Walking distance from the city center. Good swimming pool and gym and restaurant.
It's so so for me. ”
The location is good. Others are not good but not bad. If you like to spend you nightlife in bar and pub, this hotel is good for you because you can enjoy your life and walk back to the hotel. Hotel roon is a bit old and smell in the room and outside the room is bad. Materials and supply in the room is low quality.
Centered location, and good breakfast”
Pros: This hotel is a landmark of Vientiane city, very easy to find. Has airport shuttle service, and staff is kindly. The breakfast is amazing! Very tasty and lots of choice. Cons:internet is not free, and the housekeeping is extremely early, before 8 am, make us cannot rest well. Hope next time can be more considerate.
nice hotel ”
About a 20 minute walk to the riverside area or tuk tuk ride. A little out of the way compared to other places near the riverside. The pool is great and the staff are very friendly. The costs of food at the hotel is quite expensive compared to other hotels and places.
They ran out of Queen rooms - and put me in a twin room instead, which is not really desirable for 4 nights during a long working trip. Also, having to pay for internet access seems to be a pretty outdated policy in an age where wi-fi accessibility is widespread, even in Vientiane. Generally though, the rooms were nice and good service.
