Nice beachfront resort”

Beachfront, cleanliness and staff.

We stayed in a deluxe villa with two rooms. The room is spacious and clean. The resort is on the beach with calm waters and fantastic sunset views. The resort staff provides good service (especially F&B Manager Chinh and his service staff) who makes sure the guests are happy. There are no restaurants around the resort but the food in the resort is reasonably priced. Unfortunately the spa is not ready and the gym is too small. Overall a very pleasant and relaxing stay. Generally English is still not widely understood in Phu Quoc.

Oasis in Phu Quoc”

Hotel condition, comfort, amenities

Phu Quoc is an expensive island - travel and accommodations tend to run pricier than you'd expect. Mercure is an exception to this. Amazing deal at the moment during the soft opening! Don't be put off by the weird stock photos for this hotel - it actually looks this good in person. Hotel amenities - tennis courts, pool, beach, free kayaking - are amazing. Rooms are beautiful and spotless. The beach is quiet, clean and gorgeous. TONS of lounging chairs all around the resort! Cons: food here is kind of expensive, but you'll inevitably end up eating here more than around town since town is so far away. Periodic electricity cut-outs when it rains.

Restful and Relaxing”

The Staff, the service and the pool

My Fiance and I stayed at Mercure Phu Quoc Resort and Villas for 5 nights in April. We had a wonderful time and we left feeling very relaxed and refreshed which is exactly what we were looking for. The staff were excellent, friendly and could not do enough to help. When we arrived we had ants in our room, but housekeeping came and sorted it out within 30 minutes of us being there. After 2 nights the ants returned, so we were moved to another room without hesitation. The pool is absolutely beautiful and clean. The swim up bar was also a highlight for us, with an excellent choice of cocktails and drinks. The beach was nice and clean, it was just a shame that there were jellyfish in the water, so that we couldn't swim safely. The hotel is in an ideal location, 5 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from the main town. The north of the Island is 30 minutes and the south the same. Highly recommended for couples who just want to stay at a resort and relax. The only thing that I would say, as a point to improve upon, is that there is not much choice on the menu and the menu does not change from lunch to evening. A little more variety on the menu and maybe a special menu for the evening time, would have made eating in the restaurant a bit better. We will definitely be returning in the future!

A beautifully appointed hotel, with huge rooms, fantastic facilities, a brilliant swimming pool, and excellent food. I'd recommend emailing Sean Maher, who is the guest relation person before you go. Perfect escape place ”

The resort is located in a delevoping area but it is definitely a perfect place for an escape kind of holiday. The receptionist and staff are very lovely, offering an excellent customer service. At arrival we were offered a delicious and refreshing drink🍹 The facilities are amazing as well as the rooms. We stayed in a deluxe room, we had an upgrade of room at arrival because no other rooms were available. Our stay couldn't start in a better way! The swimming pool has both jacuzzi and a bar. There is a spa and gym which are located right next to the swimming pool and a tennis court. The breakfast is very reach and food served at the restaurant delicious. The resort has a private beach where you can enjoy the breathless and colourful everyday sunset. In addition there is a net for beach volley and kayaks available to use at any time during the day. Transportation to the airport is fee of charge and arranged based on needs. I would definitely come back to Mercury Resort

Spacious villas and friendly staff”

We came as a group of 8 and stayed in The Garden Villa, all king size beds, spacious living room, dining & bathrooms and a large clean family size pool. Minor things to note, we had to ask for cutlery, glasses and plates as there was no kitchenware (pots, pans etc), the water pressure for showers was off/on depending on which bathroom, and there was no main living/dining room air conditioning so staff provided additional fans. The Garden Villas are a 2 minute walk from the main hotel area/facilities, in which buggy service is provided by the hotel. There is construction happening as the hotel is expanding. The main hotel pool was decent, good pool bar and lounge chairs for the beach area as well. The restaurant was reasonably priced with great food and the buffet breakfast had a variety of options. I will recommend the onsite spa service. Overall the hotel staff including the site manager, Sean, were really nice and friendly and made our stay an enjoyable experience.

Lovely stay at a lovely hotel”

The pool, the beach, and the room!

After our 11 day trip through Vietnam, we couldn’t believe our luck when a chance booking brought us to the Mercure.. we literally walked through the hotel elbowing each other going 'We've done VERY well here..!'. The hotel is still new - the pool is gorgeous with a swim up bar and the beach is good. No issue getting loungers at either. The sea was calm, but they do have jellyfish signs. We only saw one (which was dead) so I don’t think they're that much of a problem and we swam several times a day with no issues. It’s shallow and you can walk out a good way before it comes up to your waist. The restaurant is good - we ate from the Vietnamese menu as the western on was twice the price. The food was always very well presented and portions very big! Breakfast is really good too - tonnes of choice and we ended up eating tonnes. For our 3 night stay, all of our food, beers, cocktails etc all came to under £90, so that was good value! The staff are good - I think we were almost the only ones there when we arrived so they were very attentive. We asked for chopsticks in the restaurant and they were pleasantly surprised I think! The hotel doesn’t organise day trips itself (yet) but the staff gave us a leaflet of local trips, and booked us onto one. We went down to the south of the island and went snorkelling and fishing. Highly recommended and cheap as $17 each. I think the operator was Johns tours (?). They pick you up at the hotel (probably a bit late as they’ll do all the other hotels in the town first as this is one of the most southern ones). The rooms were great - we had one of the bigger ones at the back of the complex, the bed was HUGE, and the bathroom great. Fab aircon, which was what you wanted after a day in the sun (note: factor 30 is NOT enough for English skin!), and we had a large balcony looking towards the sea. The weather was great - some clouds but enough sun to laze about in. It rained only once at night - so I recommend April!

Group of 10 with children”

We loved our villa with with the private pool. There were 5 master bedrooms that all had shower, tub and large bathrooms. Nice flat smart TVs all around the house. It was very clean and modern. The villas are not located close to the main resort or beach. We had to call for a golf cart every time we wanted to go to the beach. When we arrived there were no towels in the whole villa...had to call for them upon arrival. The main pool was nice and the beach was clean, compared to all other beaches on the island. The staff were super friendly to the the whole family. And the breakfast buffet had a wide variety to choose from with lovely seats outside. We were able to set up private boat tours and purchase tickets at the front desk, no problem. My biggest complaint would be the construction around the resort. But to be honest, there is construction all over the island. Our view from our private villa was a half built villa going up. I would have liked to be within walking distance

Not really 4 star”

The place clearly has the best days behind it. Facilities, landscape and overall feel is very old fashioned, but I must admit that the staff was trying their hardest despite a few hiccups. Our villas was nice and spacious, unfortunately 'hot' water was barely lukewarm, which was a problem on cold, rainy days. The beach was incredibly dirty, with literally lots of trash laying around. Overall it would be good, but not for this money - for a slightly higher price there are much better options on Phu Quoc

We stayed in the 4BR Garden Villa with pool. One of the good points to note is how helpful and friendly the staff were! The villa was spacious , beds and pillows were comfortable , and the private pool was awesome! The buggy service to and from the Villa was amazing too. There were AC in all rooms but no AC in the living room and kitchen. However the staff were helpful to bring in a stand fan and also set up the best AC mode to cool down the living room and kitchen; we then had no issues with there not being an AC in those areas. Breakfast buffet had both Vietnamese and Western options. Would definitely stay here again!

Nice resort, 5 mins from airport, suitable for anyone who prefers to be away from busy road”

We stayed there for 6 nights in total. The room was massive when compared to similar resort in the area. Bed was big and comfortable. Shower was adequate. Breakfast was enjoyable and staff was very helpful. The bar/restaurant/room service is slightly higher than other resorts. It may be because it is further away from town. The complimentary shuttle to town (Duong Dong) and airport were great. Although the resort is situated 5 mins from the airport, we didn't have any issue with noise. Beach was relatively clean and the free kayak was great.

Great facilities, bad staff”

The staff just seems very lost in many different ways, at check-in they insisted the free shuttle to the airport had to be 3 hours before my flight, and I said that didn't make any sense since their hotel is 8min away by car, or 50min walking if everything goes wrong, lol.. Phu Quoc airport is a nice airport but only small airlines land there, one or two big only, so there's no hassle going through security and checking in. After I insisted for 2:30h earlier (already thinking was too much but just to be safe as it was my first time there and I thought maybe they know something I don't), we got there the check-in counter opened only 1:40h before the flight (BKK Airways) which left us 1 hour doing nothing there just because they insisted it was required and when I threatned to just take a taxi then they said they would accomodate my request. Waiters at the restaurant just looking at us and not bringing the menu, taking our orders or anything considering we were the only ones there.

Quieted down early but was fabulous and relaxing! The breakfast buffet was out of this world!!! There was Brie and goat cheese yummy and croissants; in addition to the yummy Asian breakfast and other hot food. No faults. We messed up the dates to our reservation and they accepted the dates we thought we had booked without issue. Staff was marvelous!

Good value for money ”

Mercury is a very convenient place to stay for a family with toddler at only 5 min from the airport. We had a pleasant stay there. The staff was friendly and kind with our baby. We appreciated our stay in a nice villa. The room was nice with an unexpected but very appreciated terrasse. The only negative point was the the dirtiness of the private beach and garden which just need to be raked. During our stay it looked abandoned with plastic, cigarette butt and other trash on the sand which are not safe for a baby. It's a pity because the other garden paths were well maintained.
