my first hostel experience”
This is my first Chiang rai visit. I wanted to google the town, so I chose Mercy where is the perfect location. Front desk are great people who understand what travellers want, and speak very fluent English. Only I had an issue with other guests, not with the hostel. Folks, you should not stay any accommodations if you can't follow the public rule. This hostel set rules such as strictly quiet after 10pm, no sex in the hostel. It is simple thing. Staying a private room; doesn't mean that you can party all night long. My next door, who is an insane white trash chatted with his pal and using a gadget with loud voice. I gave a warning to him by front desk at the first night but he did bother us next night too. If you can't consider others or need a chatting therapy every night, then you should stay your home. Besides the issue, my stay was good. AC works well, TV has many channels, washing machine... Thank you, Mercy!
Nice Little Hostel”
Mercy Hostel was very well located near the night market and the bus station. The rooms were air conditioned with comfortable beds, and there was free water, coffee and biscuits (in the morning). The bathrooms required a security card to open so they were safe, and clean with shampoo and body wash as well as hair dryers. Added to all this there is a central hang out area with pool table as well as a lovely little swimming pool. I would not hesitate to recommend Mercy Hostel and would be more than happy to stay there again when in Chiang Rai.
Mercy Hostel was perfect! It sets the bar high that my other hostels after this felt less satisfactory. The location is central enough but not noisy; cleanliness is kept at all times; staffs speak English very well in addition to being warm and helpful; and the amenities are convenient. I particularly like the individual dark curtain in each bed that ensures both comfort for the sleeper and others who would like to turn the room lights on. I also like the individual hanger by the wall. My small recommendation would probably be the warm water, it would be great if it could be warmer because Chiang Rai is cold :). Keep up the good work!
Big clean rooms, great facilities, and friendly staff. ”
We stayed in the Chiang Rai region for a week and used the Mercy as our base, so they stored our baggage on and off. We stayed in a private double room, which was clean, large, serviced daily, excellent hot shower, and complimentary water. The facilities included a pool and kitchen (with tea, coffee, water cooler etc). There are washing machines 30 baht a load) just buy a sachet of powder from 7-11 and an undercover drying area. There are bicycles for hire. The staff were friendly and helpful. They arranged motorbikes, and booked us accommodation in their sister resort in Phu Chi Pha ( and wrote the name of the resort in Thai script so we’re could get directions when we arrived!). Short walk into all the bars, restaurants and night markets. Top spot.
we stayed in a private room in the hostel. the staff were friendly and helpful and assisted with us renting out a moped for the day (they had run out of the ones you can rent on site). breakfast isn't provided but there is a nice cafe on site that does amazing smoothies (open 7am until 5pm if I remember right). Although we stayed in a private room, there is a good social vibe to the hostel. lots of people sitting with laptops, by the pool or playing on the pool table. the room was super clean and had a huge bed, hair dryer and toiletries were provided. WiFi was good throughout and free water was provided daily. the location of the hostel is just a short 10 minute walk from the night market and many small and quirky bars that are en route. would definitely recommend the night market and cat bar for a friendly atmosphere. the only downside is we had only 2 nights there. .would recommend and go back if in Chiang rai.
Best hostel ever, hands down”
This could be one of the best hostels in thailand! the best in chiang rai for sure! Extremely friendly staff, comfortable bed and blanket (that make me hard to get out of bed 😂). Clean kitchen, clean toilet, and great common room, also not to mention the swimming pool area! so cozy! Location wise, 5-10 minutes walk to bus station 1, night market, night bazaar. This hostel is very quiet at night and has a peaceful surroundings. not for party goers definitely but its heaven for those seeking peace! Sad to leave this hostel early, would recommend this hostel to anyone! MUST TRY!
Highly recommended! ”
I highly recommend this hostel! The value is just incredible! I stayed in Mercy Hostel for over a week as I kept extending my stay. 🙂 The facilities are very clean and tidy! There is a gym, a kitchen and a separate air conditioned house that can be used as living room. I loved that space! The location is perfect as it's far enough from the main road, so you won't hear the traffic, but only a five minutes walk from the bus station. The staff deserves a special mention: very helpful, accommodating and always in a good mood! Thank you for a great stay! 🙏
My roommate and I stayed here 1 night while visiting Chiang Rai and loved it! This was our first hostel stay and we were very impressed. The staff are all very nice and speak good enough English to communicate needs. They were super helpful! They let us check in early and leave our things after check out in a room so we didn't have to carry them around. It was very clean, especially the bathroom & shower area. The receptionist have connections for renting a motorbike while there. They did not have any left to rent when we went, but she recommended a really good place super close. Great experience. Would definitely come back!
Wonderful Hostel - very recommended”
This Hostel offers everything you might wish for. We stayed in a private room and it was very spacious, clean and bright. The bed was huge and comfy. The Hostel offers a kitchen with free coffee, tea and water. Very nice common room with lots of things to do. The staff was helpfull and always friendly. It‘s very well located within walking distance from restaurants and the night market. We really enjoyed our stay here and I would always come back to Mercy Hostel.
Clean bathroom and toilet. Comfortable bedroom with good wifi connection. Nice staffs. Strongly recommend to stay at Mercy Hostel in Chiang Rai!
This hostel was great for our trip to Chiang Rai for the Hot Air Balloon Festival. The rooms were clean with only 6 beds, an outlet and light for each bed, and a locker. There were 2 cookies jars and coffee and tea available all day. The staff spoke impeccable English and were very helpful recommending transportation and activities. The pool is small but nice to hang out at. There is a gym with a few treadmills and some weight machines. The guests were of mixed ages and were all quiet and respectful. Really loved our stay here.
Great hostel! ”
This is was by far my facorite hostel set up. Dorm Rooms are feel very private so if you need alone time its perfect, but at the same time they have a GREAT lounge. By far the best social lounge space of any hostel Ive been to. If youre looking to meet people def the place. Staff were great and accomodating. Location is close to everything and Chiang Rai is so small youll be able to walk the town easily from here!
New, clean and affordable with great location”
This was our first stay after breaking away from my fiance's Thai family. We opted for the private room so can't speak to the shared rooms. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room, it appeared brand new with a 30+ inch LG tv and LG a/c. The bathroom was very clean with hot water. The room itself was quite large! The staff was kind and helpful. There were laundry services available and a common area with a kitchenette. We didn't use either, but both are useful. It is located a few blocks from the Chiang Rai night market, and though we had a car we walked to/from both nights. Very convenient! Overall a pleasant first night's stay at a great price
The best Hostel I‘ve been to!”
The Mercy Hostel is the best Hostel ever. It is superclean, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the bathrooms are supernice, very big and very clean, there is a kitchen that you can use and a nice indoor and outdoor chill area. But the best thing are the doorms itself. The beds are really big, supercomfy and just the best ever. You have curtains for privacy, a huge locker and enough space for all your stuff. I would 100% recommend it!!
Fantastic room and Friends!”
This is not the first time I stay in hostel at another country. But Mercy Hostel provided a nice facilities for us to get a new friend like area of games and notice board that let us to drop down notes to get travel partner. Also, they have few tour packages recommended to us, is really convenience to me. The room is definitely clean and tidy. And last, just forget it about the small pool..
Best hostel in town, maybe thailand”
Set in a quiet side street, but still close to all the bars and restaurants. The place is immaculately clean. Best hostel bathrooms I've ever seen! Do it yourself laundry available. Nice sun deck. The beds are comfortable and have real bedding. Social atmosphere, but all noise cuts off at ten, sharp. These people got it right, my new go to place in Chiang Rai!
We stayed in a private room with bathroom. It was amazing and hugeeeeeeee. The room was clean and had a refrigerator, but no microwave. Which was fine because there was a community kitchenette. No breakfast at this hostel, but there's a coffee shop on site that serves the worst breakfast we've ever eaten lol. (The eggs tasted like powered or liquid eggs lol and the bacon looked uncooked)But I definitely recommend Mercy, they even have parking for motorbikes and cars. Personally,I would want at least a motorbike while staying here but there are a few bars and restaurants within a 10minute walk.
The staff are very helpfull”
Our flight to Chiang Rai delayed until 2 hours that make us arrived to there in very late night, about 01.30 AM. I feel worry because hostel will closed at 10 PM. But when we arrived, the staff is very welcome to us. This hostel is quite, cozy and has complete facility
Probably one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. Rooms and bathrooms were both really nice. Great outdoor space and common area. Wifi worked well. Right outside all the action so it's quiet but very walkable. I would come back here if I cam back to chiang rai.
amazing, loved the little and cozy outside lounge, loved the free breakfast, adore the free water dispenser, met a lot of people to hang out with, made a lot of friends, room are the best, great great great! no other place i would like to be! go back again for sure! tnx mercy hostel!
