Great beach! Friendly staff!”
I really enjoyed my stay in Mermaid Paradise because it was outside the main area of Port Barton. The husband and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was really good but on the expensive side but the serving was huge, even instant white coffee was expensive at P50. But the resort needs to earn money so I understand. The beach though is soooo beautiful and the whole place was almost deserted! Just the way I like it. Water and electricity were not that good because of the secluded location but I didn't care as long as I could have the beach by myself. I rented a kayak and at night there was bonfire. I wanted to take the island tours but it was difficult to arrange because I was the only guest willing to go. The staff found me a friendly motorcycle driver who toured me around the place, to the waterfalls and other scenic areas. I enjoyed my time here, in Port Barton, compared to El Nido and Puerto Princesa. I wish I stayed here longer.

Awesome place to stay”
This is a great little spot and I would definitely recommend to stay here. JR and his family were so kind and accommodating it was unreal: Welcome drinks, teaching us how to chop coconuts, taking us out snorkelling on their boat, discovering the starfish, playing darts in the evening, eating the good food they cook... they even walked us from our room to the restaurant/common area with umbrella's when it was raining! The room was very spacious with air con and a comfy mattress. (we had a queen bed with ensuite), clean and tidy. Mermaid Paradise has everything you need to make the most of your trip to Port Barton.

Excellent”
We absolutely loved staying at Mermaid Paradise JR Resort. The hotel is on its own secluded part of the island so it’s only you and the other guests that get to enjoy the property. JR and Lucy were great hosts.

Gorgeous place, lovely hosts. Incredible. ”
We just missed the scheduled boat to Mermaid's part of the area... But they came back and scoured the beach to find us! The host family are incredibly friendly, Lossy and Jeffery were the perfect hoteliers; friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in every respect. Jonathan the boat motor hand is an absolute gem to meet and get to know. The food at Mermaid is absolutely top-notch! In my time in the Philippines I still haven't found a nicer garlic rice. (I ate it 2-3 times a day). The kangkong is delicious too :) The rooms are basic, but very clean and well looked after. They invested in solar panels and lots of batteries, so while 'mainland' power goes down, Mermaid is still lit up! The view is nothing short of spectacular. Epic sunsets every night, and smooth, shallow water for miles. I can't recommend this place enough. Lossy, Jonathan and the entire family are absolute diamonds.

Quiet Escape”
If you are looking for a remote get away - mermaid resort is the perfect place to do so. It's a 20 minute boat ride away from the little town of port Barton, the man who runs it will pick you up from the main beach and bring you there. This is both a pro and a con - they are your only source of transportation into town so it's a bit tough to go back and forth into town if you want to explore- virtually impossible , which also limits you to only their restaurant as you are the only hotel on the beach - there is a small hostel down the way but they do not have a restaurant. The food ok but limited as everything they have they have to boat in. The rooms were clean and hot showers between 6pm and midnight , other than that there is no power (very common for anywhere you stay). That being said - they have kayaks and offer small tours, if you are looking to unplug and relax it is great for that.

end up paying more than you think!”
I don't even know where to start. I'll list the pros: -location -beach is nice -the staff of locals is very nice and friendly. That's about it. After that there is just too many little things and a few really bad things. Little things: - They charge you for EVERYTHING. literally there is no complimentary water or coffee (even though they have what appears to be a coffee making station readily available) but you will get charged at a premium for it. - the food is good but pretty expensive, but there is absolutely nothing else available so you have no choice. - They even charged us 20 pesos for 1 tiny banana. 20 per banana. - Finally the owner clearly favors Chinese tourists, and waves all of these little fees for them. Big issues: - the female owner is extremely rude to customers (add long add they are not Chinese) and to her employees including her own husband. in the the nights we were there we heard her berating her husband loudly in front of everyone and getting in a heated shouting match with paying customers! we couldn't believe it when she would literally sit next to them and talk down to them until one of the customers couldn't take it anymore and started yelling, then the owner started acting like the victim because she got yelled at. - Finally, on our last day, my wife left her phone charging at the bar while we waited for our boat to San Vicente. she then forgot it and we left. we contacted the resort and she said that she had it in her position and could do us the favor to meet us at the capital city of Puerto, so we wouldn't have to pay the very expensive boat ride back twice. it seemed incredibly nice and we accepted the offer. she said she would leave it with her husband brother Jayson Amora who lives in Puerto and we could contact him and he would return the phone. we agreed on a date and location. (she then proceeded to basically tell us that we should give him a certain amount of money for his troubles, which I found unnecessary and rude). when

Ister : As we talked in facebook messanger, there is a misunderstand .I ask you give 100php or 200php to Jr brother if ok .its not necessary but just because he is not my worker and he used his time ,motor and gasoline to send the cellphone to terminal and waited for you almost 1 hour . if you cack back to Port Barton ,you needed long time and much more money for the boat or motorccycle. And the true reason why that day im rude to JR , I also told in messanger .Anyway sometimes some bad unlucky things just happened . You ask me edite or delete your review after you realized its not suitable to judge me like that but agoda system is not allowed you or me do that . Thank you staying here and give us a chance to know each other .
Beyond our expectations”
Usually I don't like write review. After I heard the story about several German,I feel it's unfair to the resort if keep quite I were recommended by my friend to book this resort, total 2 nights . I should say it's a place beyond our expectations. If you want find a place for relax , it's your best choice. The beach is wonderful and quite, room is new and clean . All the workers even someone not so good at English try their best to help us . And the generator noise, I can ignore when staying room and bar . In the 2 days , we tried very very fresh crabs and fish . My wife learned how to cook chicken adobo . We enjoy every second in this place

Great Place if you wish to be in isolation”
This place is just a stand-alone resort/hotel near Port Barton area where you'll find great serenity and tranquil. The owner was very helpful and accommodating and have also arranged a personal tour for me, my aunt and cousin. Overall, the price is cheap but the quality of service is OUTSTANDING.

secluded, fantastic beach”
very simple accommodation with a few caveats but overall a great place to stay. power is only on from dusk to 2am, water quality/availability is a bit sketchy (fed from a river), meals are basic and leave a lot to be desired, and you're a 20 minute boat ride from town if you want to go out... but for all that, we'd certainly stay here again -- the beach is WONDERFUL, clean white sand, and you'll practically have it to yourself. after weeks of crowded beaches this was just what we wanted. staff is great.

Very good”
So far out of the way, need a boat to access (which they do provide) But unfortunately we had a car and the road was nearly impassable and we nearly turned back. Nothing to do in the evening, but the staff were friendly and ready to please.
