There are things to improve in the mind of care for guests
1. After experiencing a long delay in a domestic flight (as always in China), I arrived in the hotel around 0100 mid-night from Pudong Airport. None was at the reception desk and I rang a bell at the desk to call a staff. A staff who appeared uncomfortable did not give me (who was extremely tired) any words of care but only required a deposit. I stayed at this hotel several times before and had never been requested to place a deposit, so I questioned why. She just replied it is for key card and other stuffs. The explanation was not at all clear. I felt as if I were challenged and it was extremely uncomfortable to be handled like that. 2. To attend a very important business meeting early in the morning, I asked an operator by internal phone line to book a taxi cab 1.5 hour prior to my departure from the hotel even. I even identified a destination for the operator. She said "No problem!" 1.5 hours later I found no taxi was waiting for me and I asked the reception what happened. Then I came to know none took care of my request and a reception staff told a door-man to catch a taxi cab on a street. It was a rainy day and took so long to catch a cab. I was almost to be late for the meeting. 3. Around 1830 I came back to my room after my long day, and found out a technical staff repairing a lighting in a closet. I had to wait out of my room for a while. I did not at all understand why he was doing it when it was easily predicted that the guest was coming back. I heard the staff said to himself in Chinese, "he should have come back much later". I strongly recommend staff be well educated and trained for at least "meeting guests' expectations and working with normal hospitality".

Poor A/C
Poor A/C, first room wouldn't cool below 24C, after switching room they managed 23C. Fitness facility is unmanned and towels are difficult to come by. At check out I was surprised to find out the last 3 of my 6 days were at a higher rate than my booking price and the price I signed for at check-in. Love the location the room is smallish but nice. Not sure I will stay there again.

So so hotel terrible breakfast
Breakfast was mostly inedible, there were stale pastries, American cheese slices in their individual plastic wraps, etc. Hotel staff was unfriendly and front desk staff were not interested in helping with concerns or questions. Furnishings were OK and hotel was clean enough. But definitively nothing special here.

Big Clean Room
Located along Line 2, Exit 3. Abt 10 mins walk to Merry Hotel. Clean and big room, with friendly staff. There is 1 local well known shop along Yu Yuan Road selling delicious food esp the fried beef with HZ green chilli. Need to walk the other longer way to find coffee.
