"The building, like so many in Katoomba, is unique, and the internal furnishings are antique and interesting."

nice and quiet hotel in the Blue Mountains”
The Metropole Hotel in the small town of Katoomba is conveniently located close to the train station. The roosm are quiet and nice though. We spent one night at the Metropole and would have loved to stay longer but it was completely booked on the weekend. It is a nice place to return to after a long day trekking in the Blue Mountains. It offers many places to relax such as a library with a fireplace, a playroom with pool billard and table tennis and more. The rooms are not very big, but sufficient and confortable. They even have electrical blankets and heaters for the winter months. I would definitely recommend it!
Lovely hotel and service with smile”
Metropole Katoomba is a lovely hotel with great location, just opposite the railway station. The decoration of the hotel is beutiful and lovely. Thanks Jenny for the good service. We enjoy staying in this lovely hotel although the room is very small. We also enjoy chatting with friends in the big and comfortable guest room.
A real charmer - quirky & beautiful. Loved it!”
My fiance and I stayed Fri/Sat nights. Hassle free booking and stay, friendly happy staff and the location at the top end of Katoomba was perfect, right across from Railway station, buses, parking at rear. The Thai restaurant around the corner was the best we've probably ever had. The rooms on the internet dont do the Metropole justice, they are really gorgeous. We snuggled up by the fire in a lounge area and enjoyed a quiet drink in simple but elegant surroundings and cant wait to go back. Maybe if you were booking, just ask if your room has an 'outside' window view. That was our only thing we didnt expect, our window looked to the internal stairwell, but honestly we didnt care because everything else was perfect for us.
Review of Metropole Katoomba”
I and my family spent 1 night in the Metropole Katoomba during my visit to Blue Mountain. It is a typical guesthouse from the last century; the room is quite small, but clean and tidy. The 'common' rooms were spacious and furnished with the decor from the years of its prime. Service was friendly and efficient, but not in your face. The deal my wife and I took included a nice cooked breakfast eaten in the dining room. The breakfast was rather good. They also serve dinner and you can order lunch. I didn't have diner at the hotel nor did I order anything for lunch, but the lunch pack was very reasonably priced. But the value of the hotel is its location. It is just opposite Katoomba railway station and a 2 min walk from the main street so very central. Plenty of good eating places within a few minutes walk, you also can take the tour buses easily.
Very central location with good sized room.”
Katoomba is the pivotal centre for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains. If you are looking for no frills accommodation and like it a little quirky, then the Metropole may be just the place for you. There is guest parking or the station is just across the road with regular services from Sydney.
Friendly staff, convenient location, value for money”
Friendly staff. Convenient location right beside katoomba station. Value for money. Provide pack lunch set of sandwich, juice and apple which is good for a picnic at Blue Mountain.
Thanks for your review, we are happy that you enjoyed your stay.
Cosy English hotel with good location ”
Stay was comfortable with the newly refurbished queen room. Toilet was small but it was clean and in a very new condition. There was no lift available and thus troublesome to carry luggage from lobby to our room at level 3. Hotel officer is available during office hours only. Located less than 5 minutes away from katoomba train station, few minutes walk to the main katoomba street for cafes, bakery, shops, blue moubtain trolly and trolley shoppe. 35 minutes walk to echo point which is the best location for viewing the three sisters at blue mountain.
Stay for 2 night with a toddler in family room. The family room is location at the corner which is good in case of young child disturbing others. The room is cosy and the bed is comfortable with electric blanket. The building is history and the decoration is quite interesting. Just that the floor is of carpet overlay wooden flooring so got cracking sound every time you walk around in the room. Breakfast is simple but good value for $15 continental buffet with menu shown in the room. About less than 5 mins walk from Katoomba station and bus stop nearby to bring you around blue mountain. Simple amenities with just soap and shampoo.
Thanks for your review, we are happy that you enjoyed your stay at the Metropole and the convenience of the location, the building is quite old so we do get some creaking floorboards, but thanks for the feedback.
Hotel with some character”
My stay was great at Metropole Katoomba, The staff were very friendly and the room had everything you need and a great location.
Across the road from Katoomba station”
Very conveniently located near Katoomba station. A cosy room, but it was on the third floor. Unfortunately there is an old, slow lift I found a bit scary to be in, so I walked up to the third floor each time. A nice place to stay, but I wouldn't recommend it if you have heavy luggage and are scared in old lifts. I enjoyed my stay nonetheless, as I'm well enough to walk up the stairs.
Thanks for you review, the lift is slow but it's not very old, not every one likes lifts, but it is convenient for a lot of people. It's great that you enjoyed the location which is very central.
Value for Money”
The rate is affordable and it is very near the Katoomba Station (just opposite). Ideal for travellers who do not drive as it is very near the vendors who provide tour for the blue mountain.
Convenient location in the Blue Mountains”
The Metropole is directly across the road from the Katoomba train station and around the corner from the main street with its many cafes. The rooms were remodeled some decades ago and looking worn but the charming old ambience still remains in the common areas such as the entrance, dining room and library. Easy and affordable way to experience the town centre.
Thanks James for taking time to review us, the Metropole is slowly having a facelift, we have renovated some of the rooms and have plans for painting and recarpeting the common rooms, we are in a great location as you mentioned, we are happy that you enjoyed the general ambience of the place.
Very comfortable ”
Most enjoyable and really no complaints. Hotel was situated just across from the railway station which happened to be my means of transport and only a matter of minutes from restaurants, shops and public transport which was very convenient. Will definitely stay at the Metropole again when travelling alone
I love the Metropole. It is very much a 1930's style Inn rather than a Pub or Motel. It is faded fancy rather than modern or swish. The building and rooms have oodles of character. It is very close to the Train Station (less than 50 meters) but very quiet. It is close to the shopping precinct and only 2k from Leura which has excellent dining and more boutique shopping. It is fairly close to the best sight seeing in this part of the Great Dividing Range and there are tours that you can take to find the less well known, but no less spectacular sites.
next to katoomba train”
friendly staff, next to katoomba train station, one of the hiking site of blue mountain. actual hiking starts from echo point, ie the i center which is 30 walk from the station, can take bus, 15 min. a lot of shops around for buying and eating, aand 2 supermarkets 10 min away. if you are there for hiking, can consider living nearer to i center where guest house are more used to hikers. i went to blue mountains for hiking but found myself livingwith nmainly middle aged or elderly visitors not coming for this purpose, thus, staff not very knowledgeable about hiking trails, there is no map available from them. They don't even know there is a map inside the travel magazine placed at their hotel. can consider guest house further away which are still within walkable distance from station if you are after hiking. But they are helpful, checked parcel sent to me by my friend in Sydney from post office. Btw, Post office have nice souvenirs and just opposite to one of the supermarket. Breakfast not included.
Perfect for backpackers”
The hotel has a nice 19th century feel to it. The breakfast spread was good, the heater was working, and it was just a minute walk from Katoomba station.
Hi Pau, Thank you for the rating, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. Ranya
We booked an extra night for the family room as this was the most value for money hotel in blue mountain. Although it is a family room, the place is small and toilet is just nice for 1 person. The good thing was it comes with an extra double decker and sliding bed. The children enjoyed the stay. As we were out most of the time exploring the place, it doesn't really matter and serves our need for the night stay.
Enjoyed our stay. Hotel was nice and conveniently located with clean good sized room. Close to Katoomba train station, shops and Explorer bus stop .
Okay. Biggest issue was how noisy it was. I was woken each day from the noise within the motel especially at reception - phone calls, travellers booking in, staff doing their duties etc. If you're looking at a restful place to stay this is probably not the motel for you. On the positive side it is a good location to do the tourist attractions in the Blue Mountains & the rooms were very clean.
New Family Room”
The family room is improved a lot then we visited 1.5 years ago. New toilet and shower room with new white big classic basin. It would be great if they can provide more hanger and jacket hanger stand on winter. So far, we are happy stay in this place and will come back for our next visit to Katoomba again
Hi Frans, Thank you for the feedback.
