wonderful experience staying in Metropolitan YMCA ”
wonderful experience staying in Metropolitan YMCA Singapore, location is very good, Hotel staff is very co-operative, value for money. Since I was a vegetarian, not much was there in the breakfast for vegetarian persons, but a lot of item for non-veg persons. I suggest to add at least one good pure veg persons like us. Rest all very fine.
Great Location but not very friendly service”
We arrived at Metropolitan Y Hotel arround 2pm local time. It is not very far from Changi Airport. Firstly we intended to go to the hotel by bus or MRT, but we forgot to buy Ez link card for going by those method. So we changed to go by taxi. It is OK after checking-in and turning to our room. But while checking-in, we felt that the Receptionist received us with no smile in her face (this maybe because of her character, we could not comment, but we always expect the Receptionist of hotels should present with their smile). We asked her: is your restaurant serving rice..., she immediately responded that "Oh, you can check with them (means restaurant)". So we did not want to ask her anything more. Every other points of the hotel are OKAY, we feel comfortable using their service in Singapre. The key point we like is it is convenient for travelling from the hotel to any other place by bus and MRT. It takes only 10 minutes from the hotel to Orchard Rd., then we can go any where from Orchard Rd. conveniently! Our next trip to singapore, we may definitely stay at YMCA.
Room size was big enough compare with new hotels in Singapore, because YMCA building was old one. We book triple room, no need to fold our 2 strollers. Clean room and bathroom. Carpeted hallway. Big swimming pool. Breakfast was higher quality than expected, a lot of variant from bread, salad, buffet, 2 kind of soups, fresh cut fruits, machine coffee, cereal station for kids. The staffs was friendly. 500m from exit Stevens MRT. There were a new upcoming MRT construction, so the view after exit the station a bit messy. Overall was nice stay.
Well located for smaller budget”
Singapore isn't really cheap to stay, but the YMCA offers quite a lot for less money than other places in this area. Due to a perfect bus connection right in front if the hotel you can reach the city center by 15min, Chinatown by 30min and different subway lines easily. The botanical garden is 15-20min walking distance. The rooms seem quite old but are totally clean which is much more important for us than the newest furniture. Breakfast is included and provides everything we needed for a start.
Satisfactory value for reasonable cost”
My family enjoyed the visit to Singapore because hotels like The Metropolitan Y Hotel give premium to their visitors' comfort and satisfaction. And knowing the tourist industry well, The Metropolitan Y Hotel is a very good example of one's home away from home. This hotel is worth recommending to others!
Fantastic spot for business travelers and families alike”
My week-long stay at the Metropolitan YMCA was the most enjoyable I've had in a very long time. It was a convenient 5-6 minute walk from the subway, had a tremendous free breakfast buffet (Asian and Western food), and a full length pool. A great value!
Amazing place and staff”
My son loved it so much coz he said it has three big beds..very big space to run around the room and a very nice shower room. We loved our free breakfast buffet..the food was great..they have many choices of food..from bread to cereal to rice.. The best of all, we experienced here the best customer service especially from their manager on duty last september 15..she really helped us recover our stroller and bag left inside the trunk of the taxi..she made all the follow ups and calls to the taxi company.. If i will be back in Singapore, i will still stay here at The Metropolitan Y. :-)
Home away from home”
Location is good, 5 mins from the nearest MRT station (Stevens), and the nearest bus stop is just outside the hotel. However, it would be very useful if the Met YMCA would provide their guests a bus stop list where they can find the buses that would pass by the Met YMCA. All other factors are excellent! Spacious room (for 3 adults and 1 kid), Daily supply of drinking water PLUS a hot/cold water fountain just outside our room, Daily breakfast is OK, Our room is cleaned everyday, Fast WIFI in our room, and Staff are accommodating and friendly. Will definitely stay here again!! :)
Clean, friendly and well located.”
Excellent. We love how friendly and accommodating the staff were. We held a 3 day seminar and the staff serving us were very efficient, courteous and went beyond the call of duty, especially Emmi Sulaiman and Teddy Iksanmas. We will definitely make Metropolitan YMCA our first choice in future seminars/workshops.
Im so happy to stay ymca hotel. all the staff are very friendly and always smiling...keep it up... promise i will come back again and i share to my friend to stay there in ymca Singapore...thank you so much for all that you share when im staying there...
Lovely hotel, great location”
the metropolitan y hotel is a cozy hotel to stay. it is situated in a perfect place as it is close to bus stop, short trip to novena, short walk to orchard as well. it provides free shuttle every morning to orchard road. the breakfast is also good. a family-friendly hotel as it doesn't have pubs
What a great find!”
100% recommended. the room was a great size, bathroom looked refurbished. Is very simple, great for people who are out all day. Food very good quality and value. Staff friendly. I was ill and they checked us in at 9.30am...I spent the next 24 hours in bed! flat screen in room, bed clean and comfy. Things you may not like...20 minute walk from Orchard Rd, but bus is $1.10 and is right outside the door. Traffic noise on pool side, but is quiet at night, so didn't bother us. Otherwise, this has to be the best value hotel in Singapore. Very easy to get to from airport, is around 10 minutes, or $S20 - $25. There is a huge pool. Basic, but it's wet! Great if you love swimming laps, as is a proper training pool.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 ⭐️ 🌟 💫 ”
I am so happy I made a very good choice. My family arrived Singapore at around 10:30am. Knowing that checkin time was still at 2:00pm, we still proceeded to the hotel with our baggage. To our surprise, they said we can already checkin our things and come back in an hour and our room will be ready by then. When we returned, we were given a free room upgrade because they felt we wouldn’t be comfortable in a suite since there were 5 of us. Lo and behold, we were provided instead with a very new and clean 2-bedroom apartment type with complete amenities like kitchen, washing machine, etc. Indeed, we got a 5-star accomodation! Special mention too to all the great staff at the front desk especially Alya and Jane. They were very nice and helpful. They even taught us to take the Blue line MRT which was just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Also the hotel provides free shuttle to Orchard. Aside from these two ladies, everyone else were so pleasant and helpful. I will definitely come back!
You Miss Out if You Miss This”
More people ought to stay here. Yes, it may be an MRT ride away from Orchard but it's location is a breather from the hustle of the fast pace of Orchard, without it being too far from the city. And the five minute walk to the Stevens Road MRT deals with that quite nicely. Other than that, everything else is a winner. For starters, Kumar, the restaurant's manager, is an excellent overseer! He virtually sees everything and makes sure you feel well cared for and attended to...down to asking how your son's injuries are and whether your daughter will be coming for breakfast. He might even lend you lyrics to your favorite song from the 80s if he is within earshot. And there is our truth worthy housekeeper, Prassanah, who diligently took care of our room, seeing to its upkeep beyond expectation, all done with the hospitality that seems pretty much the culture in the place. I will gladly stay in this place again and again and again, lest I miss out on what I have until I stayed.
Decent Hotel But A Great Cause”
Truly a decent hotel. It is a YMCA while hotel rooms above it. Apparently, the revenue generated from the hotel and restaurant go towards programs at the YMCA. So a very good cause. The rooms were decent. It was clean, comfortable, satisfying breakfast and close to the Orchard shopping district. The staff was quite good. I felt safe there. I would stay there again.
Reasonable price, very friendly staffs especially restaurant staff. Thank you so much YMCA staffs, especially Mrs Nancy for our beautiful Singapore hotel
We booked two rooms for four people and our rooms were placed beside each other. The rooms were roomy even for two big luggage. It was very clean. The lobby with positive YMCA slogans was big enough for the four of us to meet with some of our friends. The location was nowhere near commercial establishments but it was close to a subway station and taxis abound in the area. The buffet breakfast was good and includes fresh fruits and vegetables. As such, my friends and I enjoyed our stay there. We will definitely consider this hotel again in our next trip to SG.
It’s really good”
Good service, good location just 5mins to MRT, the breakfast good. Thank you YMCA, next time when i travel to Singapore, this hotel still is my choice.
Overall our family enjoyed the stay. Our 6 year old loved the big pool. Our first day out we got lost because the subway helper thought we were staying at the YMCA closer to the Orchard station. We had to take a taxi but later realized we could have taken a bus to the Y. The breakfast was not varied and we stayed 5 days so we were pretty tired of the same thing. We would stay again and recommend it but for Westerners, we would say, to try breakfast places elsewhere.
Family-Friendly Stay in Singapore”
Traveling in a small group, our experience at the hotel was great! It's only 3 stops from the main Orchard shopping area, eg. Tang Plaza, AON, etc, by bus. With a toddler, we take cabs frequently between the hotel and the Orchard MRT (because bus isn't stroller-friendly at all). The front desk sells EZcards for travelers to go on bus and MRT. There was a swimming pool for teens, children and toddlers. I am very pleased with the free daily breakfast at the cafeteria. It carries a variety of Asian and Western warm breakfast items which is impressive. The hotel has free wifi for each floor which is very helpful to connect with others (local phone calls do charge). The 3-people room is clean and spacious with big wardrobes. My friends and I share the bathroom but we each can have our own wardrobes. The bathroom is pretty standard and we all find it very clean. The downside is that the reception staff isn't knowledgeable in giving directions. For a few times we asked them how to get to a mall in Orchard, or go to Bugis (Little India) by bus, they weren't able to give correct directions which ended up making us going extra miles to find our destination. The laundramat didn't work because the washing machines only accepted new $1 coins which the front desk doesn't carry. The traffic can be very jammed-pack during rush hour and early Sunday mornings in this neighborhood (=meaning hard to catch a bus or a taxi because they are often full). Considering if you are traveling in groups, this isn't a bad choice because it values for its price!
