Heaven on earth!”
My husband and Iwere looking for comfortable accommodation in Kanchanaburi. We chose Mida resort because of genuine site. The hotel offers a shuttle service from the bus station in Kanchanaburi, but you must contact the resort about your wishes.. When we arrived at the hotel...OMG... I can assure you that we remain speechless ... this is paradise on earth. The surrounding area is decorated to every detail ... everything smells of jasmine, landscape perfectly organised, romantic, the rooms are clean and comfortable, breathtaking pools, evening walks are like dream... I have traveled a lot, but such beauty is rarely seen. If I tell you I had tears in my eyes, when we were leaving, vouldit be enough? Restaurant-the food is great, not expencive at all, English is a little problem, but you can ask for the present English speaking manager, which is extremely friendly and helpful, he will help you. He asked us about our staying, about our ideas,.Amazing person.. ... if I only had the opportunity to return to this paradise! I am speechlees, this place - you must see !!!
Stayed a couple of nights to explore the Kanchanaburi area and wanted to stay longer. The Mida is about 40km beyond Kanchanaburi and is set in magnificent grounds on the banks of the Kwai river. You need a car and for tourists coming from Bangkok consider hring your car and driver for round trip BK>Kch>Bk .. its about 2000bht / day plus petrol and will make your trip so much easier as well as being independant.
Lovelly Hotel and service wit a smile”
The Mida resort is a hidden gem. The setting on the river Kwai is just beautiful. The only disadvantage for some people may be its proximity from Kanchanaburi, some thirty kilometers. Our room was always very well cleaned, staffed were very courteous, hospitable and helful in organizing our chosen activities. I would recommend this hotel highly to anyone who wishes to enjoy peace and tranquility
Lovely place, tent by the river”
I had a wonderful time in Mida Resort. It is right in the middle of the nature by the river. Wasn't too hard to find the resort as there was a sign on the side of the main road. We got a river tent (Air conditioning, tv, fridge) which was very nice and clean and we got the best view, the tent was right by the river but the air conditioning was kinda loud so we got an extra tent to sleep for the night and come back to our first tent by the water in the morning to chill in. The swimming pool was very nice, beautiful and very big. We had dinner there but the food tasted ok. But the breakfast buffet was very nice with Thai traditional coffee. they got swings and decks to chill on by the river. though at night there seems like a karaoke happening. it wasnt loud for us as we were quite away from the rooms area. other than that i love it. very relaxing and peaceful. The location is quite close to some main attraction. Drive more up north is the Arawan waterfal, the elephant camp and more to see. over all
greenery villa with private pool and jacuzzi ”
we were so pleased to stay in this cozy villa surrounded by green garden. the villa exterior was nice with thai contemporary style look. sala thai was available for us to rest and relax in the middle of garden. bigger pool than expected and water level was gradually higher from jacuzzi side to dipping pool. kid enjoyed the pool no less than my hubby and i. our stay at mida resort was impressive and perfect...we had breakfast nearby river kwai...we strolled around the resort to breath in fresh air...we climbed up the tower to see panoramic view over the river and resort. you will luv this place like we do...you betcha!
Everything good & staff great”
Fantastic...Our family came to stay at Mida resort long time ago. Start from difference name Kasalong to Xen and present is Mida. Everytrip our family came here ....we found the good thing progress . And so impression for us everytime to stay here.
A breath of fresh air”
One of the best resorts around Kanchanaburi, a bit far (40KM) from town, and the Agoda map is totally wrong. but the place is worth the ride if you have your own transport. The grounds are very well kept and the staff is very friendly. Xen is very quiet and serene, has plenty of activities near by such as the elephant camp, a small ATV circuit on the hotel grounds and plenty of other stuff to do on the river.
This was our fourth visit to kanchanaburei and our fourth stay at the Mida. We're thinking of buying season tickets! We live in Thailand and usually travel on holiday with friends and family from abroad, usually from the UK. The Mida, it's quality, and it's environment always alter their perceptions, and the 'WOW' factor comes into play, simply because of it's ambience and nature friendly environment. Anybody care for a bike ride through the forest or a bamboo raft on the river, before a swim in the pool and dinner of course!!!
great for families”
Xen is on the riverside about 40kms north of Kanchanaburi se in a lush forest by the water. beautiful and natural, this resort is the perfect spot to relax or to spend a fun weekend with the family. Down the road are Erawan falls, elephant camps and other attraction. as a matter of fact, most of Kanchanaburi's main attraction are a few KMs down the road, so you'll save the long daily trip to this area.
A huge hotel by the river...”
we had an enjoyable stay at the mida resort...it is a huge resort which was mostly empty during our stay, a tour group turned up and were there for a few hours, but apart from that we didn't see many other people. we booked a private pool villa, but these are far away from the river, and a little dated, not really worth the extra money, as we had the main pool to ourselves anyway. i guess that depends on the time of year you go though. we looked at the river tents and they look really cool...brand new and kitted out with carpet, fridge, tv, and proper beds, and right on the river bank, with a beautiful view. our pool villa was a little old and the pool was dirty, we had to ask them to clean it when we arrived, which they did. it was also not very private as you could be seen from the pathway when in your pool and i'm your room. we were joined by many giant ants in our room every day and night, and a giant cockroach as well as a tree frog! the staff were not the most efficient, but the thai food was good and reasonably priced. a good location for visiting erawan falls...it's about 30 min drive away. it's also fairly close to the safari park, and 30 min drive to kanchanaburi city centre where you can find the tourist attractions and a variety of restaurants. you will need a car as there is nothing within walking distance.
Quiet hotel with good facilities”
The hotel is located some 30km from Kanchanaburi town which makes it slightly difficult however the location itself is superb being just next to a river amongst a grove of trees. The rooms and restaurant were more the standard of a 4 star hotel however the facilities were 5 star. Huge pool, excellent service and many options to explore the surrounds or the river.
Friendly , quiet , no brochures little advice ”
Very nice Shame about advertising as Kanchanaburi central city resort ????? its 40 ks from city Why bother Great place to relax n stay .... a little pricey .......................................................................................................................................................
It s happen inconvinient for information ”
We have been to staying here more than 5 years ago. From teh old name Kasalong to XEN and present MIDA... Everything it s great...I have just to observe that... Every employee very carefully for working...and become to exciting ... Perhaps effective from apart old staff and Some a new. And a good memorize in our this trip..is... A mini event Songkran festival...Small but nice.... and good for free signal wifi internet... And I have through that we ll back in next...here...
XEN HIDEAWAY RESORT”
This hotel was in a beautiful location although quite far from Kanchanaburi. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough to help. We left feeling completely relaxed and recharged. The food was ok, but a little on the pricey side for what you got however nothing wrong with it. We felt like we were the only ones there during the day having the pool to ourselves for the majority of the time. A really lovely stay and would definately reccommend to anyone who wants to sit quietly and ease away the stresses of work and city life.....
Quiet, lovely resort by the river Kwai”
Having decided on a whim to spend a couple of days in Kanchanaburi, I was glad to find such a nice resort on Agoda on such short notice. I booked two superior rooms, one for my wife and me, and one for my parents visiting Thailand. When we arrived at the resort, we were welcomed with a smile and a good surprise: we had been upgraded to deluxe rooms overlooking the river. Reason: the superior rooms were in another building and nobody was staying there at that time. I guess it was easier for housekeeping to concentrate only on the buildings near the river (???) We parked our car near the reception and were driven to our building by golf cart. The rooms were bright and clean, with a very reasonably-priced minibar. The breakfast buffet was also very decent: congee, fried eggs, omelet, pancakes, cereals, toasts, jam, bacon, ham, sausages, fried rice, mini salad bar, and fruits. We tried the restaurant the first night and were not disappointed either. We had the beautiful pool to ourselves. When I showed up at 6:30 pm for an evening swim, the pool attendant pressed a few buttons on his remote control, the lights in the pool turned on, and the Merlion-like statues started to spit out water into the pool. Although the place was very quiet with not so many guests, I never felt like we were left to ourselves. There were plenty of staff around, always ready to help. One particularity of the resort is the tall observation tower standing up near the entrance. We didn't actually climb it up, but the view must be fantastic from up there.
Good hotel for family with small kids”
I booked a family room for a night with my kid and my mother. Unfortunately, this kind of room only located on the 3rd floor. It was a bit difficult for me with my 2 year old son and my mother at almost 70 to go up with an elevator. The staff did not inform us on this. However, it was not too bad as we had a bell staff to assist us in moving our luggages. My son really enjoyed the swimming pool. The food there was really nice and good value for money. The staff were really friendly. You can go on a river bamboo rafting for free. I did not go as it did not fit my team. Overall, we had a great exprience and we would go back if we have to visit Kanchanaburi in the future.
Dear Khun Apipong, Thank you for your kind review and delighted to read that you found many aspects at the resort and overall enjoyed your stay with us.My apologies for your inconvenience may cause as we did not get informed regarding to your mother also the bamboo rafting is not for free may be miss communication among your team because actually will be extra charge per person and your group paid it for all team member. We will looking forward to welcoming you again for the second visit and please let's us know if your mother will come together then we can provide more convenience room type for her at the ground floor. We are appreciated the continue support. With kind regards, Teeraphon Daengpajon Executive Assistant Manager
This is my 2nd time at Mida, good location surrounding with natural, also quiet and peaceful. The taste of foods are very good (Papaya salad with shrimp and tuna sandwich with cheese/chip). For dinner, some foods quite salty like fried vegetable with oyster sauce and sauce of deep fried pork with fired rices but Tom Yam Pla Kang is very good.
Dear Khun Kamonwan, Thank you for your kind review and delighted to read that you found many aspects and overall enjoyed the stay with us. My apologies for some taste and our Executive Chef will re look closely to ensure we did improvement as we are listened carefully from our guest feedback. We hope to see you again here and appreciated the continue support. With kind regards, Teeraphon Daengpajon Executive Assistant Manager
This is the nicest resort I have stayed at. It is right on the river. The scenery is awesome. It is out in no where. A word of advise. I took the bus into town and had to get a cab to the resort. No one knew where the resort was. I tourist police officer wrote the directions out in Thai, which might be a good idea for you to have before hand. The swimming pool, restaurant, rooms are awesome. You will love this place. Just realize this is a resort, not a hotel.
Nice place to spend a few days”
We loved staying in Mida with our three children. We rented two river view airconditioned tents which were clean with good beds. The shared sanitary facilities were very clean and well kept. Staff's English is very limited but there is always a supervisor around with good English skill. Staff is friendly and helpful though. Agoda promotes the 'Tiger Temple' as a tour destination but be warned that it is more a commercial business than a religious site or temple. The WWF and other NGOs have repeatedly warned about animal cruelty and illegal wildlife trade. The Thai government is apparently on them. Probably best not to pay this place a visit. We decided not to buy tickets when we arrived there because of what we saw. There is plenty of other great stuff to do to explore this beautiful part of Thailand
Beautiful location! Okay room.”
Staff was helpful and friendly. The area is gorgeous, sitting right on the river in the middle of such natural beauty. The location is the selling point. The room is adequate, which was fine for us. Breakfast was between barely adequate and nonexistant, depending on which day we tried to have breakfast, but I'm sure it's because we were there during monsoon season and had the place virtually to ourselves. Overall nice hotel and gorgeous location, LOVE Kanchanaburi!!
