Great on beachfront - only place to stay in Dumaguete”
Have stayed here 4 times...and ought new friends here each time...only 8 rooms...great pool and beach...with own Dive Shop, great boat for day trips to Apo Island, and more...and great Host Mike...also good food and bar
Great resort for diving & snorkeling”
This is a great resort. It is located right on the water with easy access to several dive spots. Staff were amazing as was the food and the location. Rooms were basic and had TV, air-con & comfy beds. I highly recommend this place if you want to dive or want to learn to dive. The local dive spots are fabulous.
Clean and comfortable”
This is an excellent place with a very courteous staff. A bit pricey, but you sit on really nice furniture, swim in a very clean pool or the beautiful ocean. The food is very good too and the menu gives better choices than most places. The towels are good quality and you get plenty. Water boiler for coffee and tea is part of the package. We are not into diving, but that is the main interest of the guests. And they are very happy with what is offered.
Great beachside Resort...small and friendly”
My second visit and would come back again...only 8 rooms, direct on beach with pool, excellent boat service for diving and snorkelling to Apo island and other locations...fab staff and atmosphere, good food
Awesome Experience at Mike's”
We went as a group of 4 to dive in the Dauin Area. The staff was VERY accommodating to our schedule and what we wanted to do. The dive instructors and guides were very knowledgeable, fun, and definitely took us to great spots. I would highly recommend staying at this resort when visiting Dauin. Mike's is also a short boat ride away to Apo Island (40 minutes) and Oslob/Sumilon Island (1 hr).
Great small hotel on beach”
Mike runs an excellent hotel...is directly on the beach...only 8 rooms (all with AC and fan), nice pool, has his own boat for diving and snorkel trips...you can see Apo Island from the hotel and is only 45min by boat...and mountain jungle adventures can be arranged also. Dumaguete City is crowded, but Mike's Resort is only 15mins drive and very private on the beach...a great base for adventures around Dumaguate....or to do nothing but read a book by the pool...a great place
Very helpful owner and staff, amazing dive master”
This was my second stop on a dive trip, after Malapascua. The resort is right on the beach, with spacious rooms, a small cozy bar/restaurant and pool. Arranging to go diving was easy and the dive master Gaby was excellent. The owners were very welcoming and accommodating. Great for solo travelers or small groups. Highly recommend, cannot wait to go back again next year.
Quite and secluded”
It’s a small resort, quite and hidden. We did not go there for diving, so I’m not going to comment on that. We went there for a weekend getaway, relax and time with my family. Not really your “destination resort” where you will see a lot of happenings and views. They just have a pool, a beach and okay price for their restaurant so if you’re looking for a place outside Dumaguete that has the peaceful vibe and don’t want to break the bank then this place is okay. The downside is locating this place. It’s in google maps but the road to get there is very narrow, one car at a time. Lighting in the area is bad especially at night we even got lost for a bit. Please add more signage!
Lovely resort to relax and do some diving ”
Corri was a great help from the start assisting us with airport transfers before we arrived. The resort is lovely right on the beach, Jonathan who runs the dive shop was very good and assuring given my status as a novice open water diver. The diving was fantastic...Apo Island the standout. The room.was great, the food was also. All in all a lovely relaxing stay. Special mentions to the kitchen , and Gabi and Marlin for showing me around under the water. Would recommend!
Delicious breakfast and clean spacious rooms. Communication with staff before was super easy and made for an unforgettable stay.
Thank you! we are happy with our stay!”
It's a family friendly resort, we really enjoy it! It's a beautiful resort we have a pleasant stay :) a clean environment. Great food and ambiance. Kudos to the staff! Till next time!
A very nice place, cozy and beach front”
Staff are nice. Restaurant is few steps away frol the room. Lounge outside your room looking at the beach and pool area. Foods are good.
Wonderful staff,,,great food, Nice small pool, Nice oceanfront property. Beds not very Comfortable. ”
Stayed two nights, really enjoyed the food and the staff. Beds not very comfortable, only had one top sheet and no covers or comforter. Stayed in two different rooms, had problems with air conditioning noise in the first room and fan noise in both rooms. The resort is situated on oceanfront with a nice small pool. Staff very friendly.
Pros: - Very well maintained resort - Small resort but clean - Quite and private - Clean pool and beach - Excellent food and very nice food plating - Easy access to everything pool, beach, restaurant etc... - Responsive and attentive Manager - Friendly and Accomodating Staffs - Free strong WiFi connection - Lots of towels - Secured free parking Cons: - No hand held bidet but you can request for a pail and water dipper. They will provide. - No tooth paste provided only soap, shampoo and tissues
Great value ”
Location is right next to a few marine sanctuaries however is about 40mins from Dumaguete. It's in a great location to visit the hot springs and Apo island. They have a dive master at the resort and their own boat which can take you diving either at Apo or at one of the many reefs. During off season there is no guarantee of a boat tour to Apo and you might have to DIY. Food is great with daily speacials and the staff especially the English staff make sure you don't miss out.
Great Diving and better people”
Mike's is our kind of place--small, cozy, laid back with all you need to do some great diving. With just eight rooms there is not a lot of people to contend with and it's nice and quiet. Nice rooms--we had the standard room for 2 nights and the deluxe room for the last 2 night--frankly we liked the standard room as much as the deluxe room. The basic difference in rooms is being a corner room with a window facing the ocean and chairs and table outside around the corner with a little more privacy -- and a refrigerator which the standard rooms did not have. Corri the resort manager was always asking how we were doing and was always around if you had questions--Jonathan in charge of the dive operations made contact with right away about diving and what I wanted to do and scheduled trips. Most people are there to dive Apo Island which I did (3 dive day) and it was great. Boat ride to Apo, 3 dives and lunch and drinks after the second dive--it was fantastic. Being a novice diver I really appreciated all the help and attention I received from the boat crews and divemaster--Gabby and Ace and Marlon who pretty much guided only me on my three dives at Apo--my first drift dive and it was amazing and he got some great underwater photos of me with turtles with my camera. Special shout out to Victor on the Apo trip who helped my girlfriend Lei get in the water there to snorkel--he was a great help in getting her over her fear of deep water and she saw more turtles than I did lol--thanks my man. We loved the little town of Dauin-- we did a little walk about in town on a Sunday which was market day and enjoyed the vibe of the town. We took two trips by jeepney into Dumaguete--36 pesos each round trip--about 30 minutes each way to Robinsons Mall. We recommend this place to anyone staying in the area--especially divers. Oh did I mention they have a great underused pool? We do plan on returning sometime next year and look forward to it very much. PS--nice restaurant and b
Nice resort in Dauin”
Beautiful resort next to the beach. The rooms were adequate with warm shower, AC and a TV. The restaurant food was good. Had the grilled fish buffet one night with excellent vegetable Panzit. The night security guard doubles as the grill master. He also had coffee waiting for us in the morning. We found all of the staff friendly and helpful. They helped us arrange tours, stored our luggage, arranged taxis. Went the extra mile for sure. I would say this resort caters to divers, but there is plenty of other activities to do on the island in addition to diving or snorkeling. We would definitely stay there again if we get to Dauin again.
Mikes Beach Resort is a great little boutique hotel just a few kilometers south of Dumaguete. Built 8 years ago and looks 1 yr old. Mike and His staff are affable and accommodating. Cost 300 pesos from the Ferry for a tricycle or 600 for a taxi. They ask 700 pesos at the ferry for a tricycle. Great beach and pool to swim in. Nice rooms. Great restaurant food and drinks. Diving instructors and equipment f You desire it. No road noise as its 500 meters from the main road. Booked in two nights and stayed 4 nights so far. Definetly meets its high Agoda assessment number.
Our second visit because we really liked the 1st time. Made a small detour to stay here for a couple of nights. Never dissapoints. Excellent rooms, great garden, good food & ambiance and right on the beach. Will stay again if we're near Dumaguete again
