Very nice place overlooking Mount Kinabalu”

We spent three nights next to the Kinabalu National Park in Mile 36 Lodge. We decided to take a more expensive room that has a clear view of the mountain. Mind you, it was expensive but then everything in this area is in the same price range. We got a very nice, spacious room with double beds and ensuit bathroom. The latter even had curtains, which I sorely miss in SE Asia’s budget accommodations. Each room on the first floor had a private balcony with amazing view over the mountain! Breakfast was OK, nothing fancy to write home about. There is also a water dispenser which can be used to refill your bottles. There is a small convenience store on site with very friendly and affordable prices. Oh, and there are also board games for you to play if you feel so inclined. The only issues we had during our stay were minor ones: - could be closer to the park - there was no mention of the restaurant being closed on Monday night. We went there almost starving after their opening time to find it locked and completely deserted. Would have been nice if they told us in the morning as we could have eaten on our way back from the park. Anyway, we had a very good time at Mile 36 and I’d absolutely recommend it if your budget is tight.

Splendid view and good value for money 👍🏼”

This is my second time staying in Mile 36 Lodge. The previous time was just 1 room but this time we went in a big group and decided to rent an entire cottage (Willie's cottage) for a night. The only downside was the floor on the ground floor was constantly wet in one part near the sofa as I think there was a leak and the water pressure of the shower in the downstairs bathroom was a little low. Besides that the utilities and furniture were all in good condition and clean and the view from the cottage was amazing!! 5 stars to Mile 36 Lodge. A good place to stay with great value for money especially if going in a group and wish to cook/BBQ while enjoying the chill night air❤️

A pleasant surprise stay at Mile 36 Lodge”

Room very clean, comfortable bed, good view of Mt Kinabalu. Bathroom has enough hooks for hanging clothings. Hotel rates is reasonable.

I am quite happy and satisfied with my stay at Mile 36 Lodge. Hotel surroundings is quiet, clean and tidy. Staff serving breakfast is friendly and courteous. Very good view of Mt Kinabalu. During booking online, only 3 rooms were available. We arrived at the lodge after dinner and our rooms were located down a slope. The way to the rooms is not well lighted. Hence not so suitable to senior citizens.

Nice chilling place to stay, surrounded by the nature, I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery. The beds were clean and tidy. They served simple breakfast and dinner. I enjoyed my morning walk and the majestic view of Mt. Kinabalu at the small hut behind the lodge. There is a wifi connection but no tv in the room. Just make sure to have a torchlight in case of power outage in Kundasang. But no worries, the lodge has emergency back up light in the room. Overall I'm satisfied with my stay.

Nice lodge, if i want to visit kundasang again, sure I will stay in this lodge again, i thought the road to the lodge is very steep and narrow but it is okay and i have no problem to drive down to the lodge i stay and drive up. Compare to other lodge or resort, the road down to the place we stay is not that steep. it was safe. Morning 5.30am wake up. can clearly see the mount kinabalu, it was amazing. I love this lodge.

the most memorable staying”

location, staff, comfort

the most memorable staying druing malaysia travel for me. nice location, surrounded by nice nature. staffs are really kind and friendly. 10minutes drive to kundasang town where is small buy everything. weather was cold, but balnket is clean and warm. room is big for me, and no matter with hot showet. they have board games and card, so we brought it to rooms and spend time also. and parking lot is big, and they allowed me to park motorcycle under the tent so i could let my moto take shelter from the rain. wifi connection is only available in near the reception, but it is no matter enjoying the lodge staying i think. and they didnt serve the food except the breakfast so we had to 5minutes walk to nearbuy restaurant. it was fine but bit scary to walk the dark, windy and rainy road. and hope they fix the mosquitoes net, cuz little bugs camed through the gap between the net and window. except that, everything was fine. we extend one more night, and take a rest there. and it was the fantastic and most memorable experience in my travel. recommend!

Worth for money ”

This hotel location is near to pekan kundasang within 5 to 10 minute drive. The room I got is nice and big. Television doesnt have channel but they provided vcd we can watch during the night. My room does not have any view for Kinabalu Mountain which is a bit disspointed but it is okay because during holiday here we still have chance to enjoy the view of Kinabalu. The heater in bathroom is not really function well and I think this can improve because the weather in kinabalu is super cool and good heater is really helpful. I read some blog and they mntion breakfast serve at 6.30 am, however during my trip it start on 7.00 am. I really appreciate if they can serve breakfast earlier because we need to follow our itinerary for few places to visit within a day. My room does not have internet connection so we drive to city to get some coverage during the night. The bed is comfy. Overall I am still happy to stay here and really recommend for budget traveller out there.

went there with my dad for a short trip to kundasang. strategic location, less than 5 Min drive to Kinabalu park, 10 Min drive to kundasang town. Reception area nicely decorated. they have books for you to borrow too. we booked a budget twin room. was located at the most far end but i like the privacy. small and comfy room. just that there will be insects flying in to the room and bathroom. (if you're a nature lover then should be ok) there's water heater but can't really feel the heat ( better than using the tape water directly- it's freezing cold) breakfast is simple but ok la. overall quite a nice place to stay

Simple Lodge near the Kinabalu Park”

Location, Friendly owner and quiet surroundings

The lodge is located roughly 2kms from the national park entrance. We arrived at roughly 10:30pm at night and the owner was there to receive us (which might be because our taxi driver called in from the airport). The lodge is roughly 1.5 hours ride from the KK airport and I would recommend indicating your arrival time in the booking as reception closes at 8pm. The room was neat and cosy, the shower had good hot water and the view from the room was quite good. The wifi worked in the room between 8am to 11pm - though this might be dependant on your room. The Kinabalu park head quarters are 10 ringitt in a taxi ride but also walkable if one wishes to. The breakfast was simple toast, tea, baked beans, sausages and eggs. I had dinner one of the nights and the chef made a simple vegetable fried rice. Its worth mentioning that for a vegetarian the choices are extremely limited so manage your expectations accordingly or bring your own food. The lodge has a very nice garden and the owner does try and help the guests in every way possible. Overall a good place to stay.

The hotel is located within close range of Kinabalu park. It is also considerably near to the Desa cattle dairy farm. Overall, the rooms are clean and offers good environment for a relaxing stay. I encourage travelers to select the double rooms with balcony (Begonia section) facing Mount Kinabalu, it offers a breathtaking view of Mount Kinabalu. Dinner is available as there's a dining hall a.k.a cafe. It's very convenient you don't have to worry about your meal. The only downside was the weak wifi. Overall, very good stay.

Had a comfortable stay at Mile 36. It's a basic lodge but decent. The shower and toilet were clean and everything worked. Breakfast was toast, eggs and baked beans.
