I have stayed at 3 Hilton properties within a month: 5 days at Hilton Sukhumvit with family (which I have reviewed also on TA), 3 days at DoubleTree on a business trip and a day at the Millennium Hilton as a solo traveller. As I stayed at the Millennium Hilton last, my review will also have lots of comparisons against the previous two Hilton properties. Location: I find the location of the Millennium Hilton to be excellent. Even though you don't have a BTS and MRT right at the door step, the view you get from the hotel room, the executive lounge as well as the rooftop bar are simply breathtaking. I loved every aspect of it. The hotel also provides a private boat that transports you to Saphan Taksin BTS every 20 minutes throughout the day, as well as a separate boat to the touristy nightmarket, Asiatique from 6pm onwards. Room: I requested for a renovated executive king room and the hotel delivered. The room was in tip top condition and seemed to be very recently touched up as there is still a smell of thinner throughout the stay, as well as throughout the walkway outside my room. I won't fault the hotel for this as that is probably part and parcel of room renovations, but do take this in mind if you have breathing issues. Bed was big and comfortable. Most toiletries are also provided. I needed a comb for my stay so a magic phone call later, a comb was promptly delivered to my room. Awesome. One bad point about the bathroom - the toilet is simply not on the same level as the awesome Japanese version found at the Hilton Sukhumvit. Even though the room has been renovated, the hotel did not seem to have upgraded the toilet - it was just a simple toilet without even a bidet. Definitely room for improvement here. Moving on to the next, the bathroom. The rainshower is just OK. Compared to the large rainshower with super strong pressure at the Hilton Sukhumvit, this does not feel very luxurious. I will rate the rain shower here the 2nd best followed by a very weak
Reasonable rates considering all factors”
To stay at Hilton in anywhere is always very nice and confortable. Especially, several Hilton hotels in different countries are now offering the 50% discount (2 nights for 1 night rate) and Millennium Hilton also provides it. It was indeed very enjoyable to stay at Mellennium Hilton Bangkok even for a short period of time. I recommend to stay at this hotel for those who want to spend very quiet and confortable time in Bangkok with a very nice view from the room.
"We chose the millennium hilton for our last 3 days in thailand, after my brother highly recommended it, we tried to organize a shuttle from the airport to wait for us, but the hotel didnt respond to our eamils, when i called the hotel directly we managed to organise it. even though our flight landed with almost two hours delay, the shuttle was waiting for us at the gate. the hotel is located in a beautiful location near the rive, quite far from everything but the hotel has av efficient free shuttle service across the river which brings you straight to the sky train, we found it to be very good as traffic in Bangkok is crazy, and some times a 30 min. walk can take double that time in driving, so the sky train was excellent. staff was very nice, the executive room was a little smaller than in other hotels we visited, but was big enough, the bed faces the view, in room amenities were top quality, from shower to bed to flatscreen, breakfast is one of the best we had in thailand, very rich. buffet dinner (extra fee) is amazing, dont miss it!"read less
Peter P's review of The Millennium Hilton Bangkok”
Very happy with our stay at The Millennium Hilton Bangkok and especially satisfied with the room upgrade after we explained to the counter staff that our stay was to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I simply showed the counter staff a copy of our marriage certificate pointing to the date and they took extra attention to set the room up with rose petals in the shape of a love heart and towels folded into kissing swans. I could not have been happier. This is my second stay at this hotel & I would happily recommend it to any traveller.
Great hotel, great location over the river"”
The boat linking to!the BTS is excellent, and then the rooms are superb, opt for the Executive Upgrade if offered as there is a lovely full breakfast buffet -Asian, European and Eric, others? The Happy 2.5 Hours when 'executives' come to have a drink and a snack 'pre-dinner' means that if you get up there for an hour and a half or more you don't need to go out as the cocktails, vino and curves a flows and the buffet food is replenished. The sun sets over Bangkok and all is well in the Hilton. The swimming pool is a bit of a game though as the sun is only on one side of the hotel from about 14.00- so there is a polite battle for sunlight space. " don't worry folks, it's coming back tomorrow, trust me!" Recommend this place, we had inadvertently booked in to a big flash apartment only to find it was right by Soi Cowboy- not what we were after in Bangkok but obviously for thousands of sad farangs who wouldn't get a second look back in Europe Bangkok is their dream.. We didnt see any of these chappies in the Hilton but maybe they kept out of the way? Thanks Hilton for making Bangkok memorable and relaxing at night.
Clean room with wide space. hygienic toilet and sufficient toiletries. Excellent Executive Lounge in 31st floor. All staffs are very much cordial. Very good working atmosphere with eye catching views. Strong internet and delicious refreshment. I enjoyed a lot and worked with my office , customers and overseas suppliers as like as i do from my office room. Planing to stay again in my next visit. Thanks and all the best wishes to the Team of Millennium Hilton Bangkok.
Before My husband and I went to Bangkok, we have heard that the city is noisy, crowded and chaotic. Being at the Millennium Hilton was like being in a cool oasis in a steamy heat of Bangkok. Nice view from our room window and river access by a courtesy shuttle boats were very convenient and reminded us of being in Venice. We took a delight in fabulous breakfast buffet and really pretty pool setting. I enjoyed a full service spa to refresh myself before I joined my husband for a memorable sunset viewing cocktails at the bar on the top floor.
We enjoyed our 3 days stay at Millennium Hilton very much. Our room had nice river view. The hotel provides free boat ride every 15 mins to the opposite River City mall and BTS train station. We recommend for the Cruise ride at the opposite river city pier where you can enjoy the beautiful night scenery along the river and dinner on the deck. The hotel also provide free boat ride to Asiatique night market,a happening place with variety of restaurants, cafe, fashion stalls and ferris wheel ride. The outdoor pool was excellent with river & city view. We highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a relax stay in bangkok.
Millennium Hilton is quite impressive”
Overall we were very impressed with the Millennium Hilton. It is located in the same riverside district area as other nice hotels like the Mandarin, but it is on the other side of the river so it is a little harder to get to by taxi, however they have a complimentary boat service which is nice. Upon first arrival, the lobby is quite impressive. Our room was an upgraded suite with a wonderful view over the city and river. I think most rooms have this type of view b/c of the layout of the hotel. The room overall was quite spacious, however the bathroom was a little small. Everything was updated with new fixtures like flatscreens. Our room initially smelled mildewy when we first walked in, but they have complimentary aromatherapy services where they heat oil and it makes the room smell wonderful. I don't know why they don't have this going when you first walk in for a good first impression. We were on our honeymoon, and once they realized this, they covered our bed in heart-shaped roses, placed other roses throughout the room, and brought a fruit plate with chocolate covered strawberries...a very nice surprise. There are plenty of dining options in a beautiful setting on the river at both reasonable and ridiculous prices. The jazz bar on top floor is really cool, however starting at $10 beer prices and $15 cocktail prices kept us out. That is ridiculous prices for Thailand. They have a great complimentary happy hour daily from 6:00-8:00 including weekends on their top floor with beautiful skyline views over the city. This is also where their daily complimentary breakfast buffet is, which is quite an impressive spread of food. We took full advantage of all of these things. They also have complimentary boat services like most riverside hotels that can take you to different nearby piers, and you can boathop, which is really cool. However if you are taking a taxi, there is some sort of crap going on between the concierge service and the taxi drivers.
Best Hotel in Bangkok”
Hilton Millennium is a great hotel. We booked a suite, this comes with afternoon tea and pre-diner coctais... both very nice. There are many places in Bangkok where you can enjoy a coctail on a roof top, but this hotel has the absolute best! For location, the hotel is "on the other side of the river", but the hotel has a private boat, to bring you to the skytrain, and taxis are available. It might take you a bit longer to reach down town, but to me the experience adds to the whole package: enjoying Bangkok and life at the Chao Praya river.
A home away from home”
In Scandinavia our national airline has through many years branded itself as the home away from home when travelling. I have never felt this way travelling with them and I am amazed that this feeling of a home away from home should happen at a place as far away from Scandinavia as Bangkok. The staff at the Hilton Millinium Hotel Riverside was the key factor to making my wife, my three children aged 2, 5, 8 and myself feel at home. When travelling at foreign contries i feel the most at home when there is a mutual respect between the locals and myself. The excecutive lounge staff at the Hilton Millinium has an extraordinary ability to meet us as guests, but at the same time beeing sincere with mutual respect as human beings, creating for us a truly amazing home away from home. A special thanks go to Bim, who showed us a heartfull welcome as she did 2 years ago!
Beautiful hotel with lovely service”
The staff at the Hilton was very helpful throughout my stay. I arrived in Bangkok from Chicago at 12 am. I couldn't sleep so around 5:45 I headed out to get some sunrise photos. I asked for suggestions at the front desk and everyone chatted about it and sent me to this morning market by a wat nearby. I took a 5 minute taxi there. (walked back though, only a 15-20 minute walk straight down the street) the market and wat backed up to the river where the sunrise was stunning. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I was the only "farang" I saw all morning. Not an easy feat in Bangkok. I didn't get a room w breakfast included as I wanted to try all the street food while here but one might I did order the spicy prawn soup and it was the best I've had. The prawns were so tender I could jut nudge them apart with a spoon. I felt silly spending as much on Thai food in Bangkok but 4 days later I'm still thinking about that soup.
Peaceful honeymoon in Bangkok”
We stayed at the Hilton for 2 nights during our honeymoon in a Deluxe Queen Room and we were very pleased with our choice. It’s located on the west side of the river but the hotel has a complimentary water taxi which takes guests across the river to the Sky train every 15 minutes. The front desk staff was gorgeous and very helpful - even recognising us on the streets of Bangkok and offering tourist advice on where to go. We were upgraded to an Executive Room for a small fee but the views from the upper levels are well worth it. We were on the 14th. Rooms were very modern, clean and well air conditioned. Other room features were: flat screen TV, minbar, in room safe, tea/ coffee facilities. Every evening there were complimentary happy hour drinks and canapés for those guests staying in Executive rooms or suites. A great way to have a light dinner before hitting the town. There wasn’t a lot around the immediate vicinity of the hotel which is why we ventured across the river toward the entertainment hub everyday. There is a very modern day spa at the hotel which has some amazing and lengthy spa treatments. The day we arrived we enjoyed a 3 hour body treatment each which costed 12000Bht at the time, but worth it if you’ve just gotten off a long flight. It was great to be able to float back up to our room rather than find our way back to the hotel. There were several (6ish) restaurants at the hotel but we only dined at the Hilton buffet on the ground level – some amazing novel cuisine en mass there for adventurous and hungry guests! The outside lounge and dining area was a very relaxing place to sit and enjoy a drink. The breakfast buffet each morning was also very good – eggs cooked on request anyway you like. We would definitely stay here again. It provided all our modern creature comforts and tranquillity which would be hard to locate closer to the Bangkok hustle and bustle.
Great location by the river”
hilton stay was better than many other hotels. the ferry to and from the bts is excellent, punctual and was quite frequent hence very efficient for travelling to central bangkok as u avoid the snarling traffic. the rooms are actually quite small nothing very great or outstanding as compared to a standard five star room except the view. the view from our 23rd floor (if u take non-smoking rooms they accommodate you in higher floors) was stupendous and was actually the value for money. the chao phraya flowing down on both side with barges and boats sailing through especially lighted up at night was a sight that can be watched for hours on end. special mention for the comfortable bed and the pillows should be made as we loved them. another really nice touch was the relaxing music you can listen at their in-house channel. the bathrooms were nice and they had crabtree toiletries. they provided a service in this hotel called ‘magic’ service – which was essentially calling up the hotel staff by pressing a ‘magic’ button on the intercom and asking for any troubleshooting or any bizarre request you may have at whatever time of day/night which they’ll try to fulfil. we had a trifling request but i was happy to note that they really took pains to fulfil it. the breakfast was good. though for the cost it was very much standard nothing exceptional as we were led to believe according to the reviews seen on the travel websites. maybe this year they are into cost cutting measures! the hotel was geared more for business than for vacationers. but the worst was that there was no free wi-fi. we had stayed at many 2* hotels in bangkok and they provide free wi-fi. hence it was a shock to us to learn that inspite of charging so much they had no free net in the hotel. nowadays, free net is an essential service and charging for it by an 5* was a very disheartening prospect.
Good hotel and good service”
We had a great time staying at the Millennium Hilton Hotel. The location is convenient for traveling to city center with complimentary boat provided by the hotel. The room is quite good with a large bathroom and good view to the river. Hotel staffs were very helpful. I would definitely stay at this hotel when I travel to Bangkok next time.
We spent the last two days of our honeymoon at the Millenium Hilton and chose to stay on the executive level. It has to be the best stay we've had in Bangkok. As we were on our honeymoon, we arrived to having out bed beautifully decorated and had strawberries dipped in chocolate. The view of the Chao Phraya river that we had was also stunning. We were very pleased that we chose the executive level as it had its own check in/check out area and lounge that we had access too all day with snacks and drinks. Being able to sit out doors so high up whilst having breakfast was also another plus for us. The use of complimentary laptops was useful too. We couldn't stop raving about the Hilton when we got home as we were blown away by the service and facilities offered to us. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We were impressed by the level of security as when we headed back to our room while it was being cleaned, the housekeeping person ensured they checked if our room card was the right one to access the room to ensure that we were the actual occupants. The service was impeccable and this is where we'll definitely stay again anytime we are in Bangkok.
We would recommend the Millennium Hilton Bangkok - Riverside and would love to go back there in the future. The staffs are generally polite and helpful. Loved the breakfast at Flow. Our dissatisfactions, however, come from the bathroom: there is no bidet and the shower hose was leaking.
Lovely hotel and service with a smile”
Having stayed at the Millennium Hilton since it first opened 5 years ago ( previously always a Conrad Bangkok guest) - this hotel would have to be my pick as one of the most consistently managed and operated Hilton hotels anywhere in the world. It never ceases to amaze me that the staff seem to go above and beyond, always with a smile and it seems staff churn over the past 5 years has been very minimal, perhaps suggesting that GM Thomas and Scott really look after their staff. When returning to the hotel pool last week, I was immediately recognised with a "welcome back" and I settled in for a very enjoyable stay 4 night stay. The Executive lounge is always a haven to relax in in the evening, I am always offered a 6pm check out which is very welcome. It is the one Hilton hotel that always treats and appreciates the return of it's regular guests. For value for money, the stunning rooms, views and extraordinary staff - this hotel can not be beaten.
Lovely Bangkok Hotel”
Our stay at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok Hotel was fantastic. Beautiful views down the River - with a swimming pool that over looks it. Great Location for what we were after. Lovely comfortable rooms.
Hotel with great Chao Praya River view and service”
we decided to arrange for hotel limo to pick us up at the airport. the pick up service was on time and the ride to the hotel was pleasant. we were pleasantly greeted at the lobby entrance and reception. the initial good impression was marred by the room allocated to us. when we entered the room, the tv was missing and there were cables on the tv cabinet. this was quickly rectified and our room was changed. our stay at millennium hilton was enjoyable. the room, the bed, service, f&b and facilities exceeded our expectations. we had a memorable dinner at maya and had the opportunity to sample exquisite thai cuisine and traditional thai dance.
