Location, Great room, Helpful owner and family”
The 4 room hotel is located right in the heart of Galle Fort and the price was reasonable considering the location however there are more economical guest houses nearby. The room at the top was great with windows opening on to a balcony at the rear and a patio in front which was only spoilt when the neighbour lit a fire causing the resulting smoke to enter the room. The wife of the owner did a small load of laundry for me as apparently there are no separate laundry facilities within the fort area. Mama's, nearby, was reasonably priced for breakfast. Lunch and dinner were available at the plentiful number of restaurants in the fort area with the Old Dutch Hospital the site of the Taphouse and Tuk Tuk (good view from the balcony) just to name a couple. One day is enough to see all that the fort has to offer and both the train and bus stations are within walking distance if backpacking otherwise 150 SLR by tuk tuk.
Best guesthouse I've stayed in Sri Lanka”
I only stayed one night at Millennium but everything was great to me. The owner of this guesthouse is a local couple and they were very friendly. I booked a normal room through agoda but when I arrived there, all the normal rooms were occupied and the lovely owner allowed me to stay in the rooftop room without charging me extra $. The air-con was working very well and I even woke up feeling cold in the midnight lol.
Location - superb! it's located on the fort itself, so the view from the rooftop is gorgeous, especially at sunrise. It's just two minutes walk away from the beach. Rooms - clean and basic AC rooms. Overall - my friends and i had an enjoyable stay!
This place is a GEM!”
This guesthouse is in the perfect location to explore the delights of the old city of Galle. The owners kindly accommodated an early check in for me. I had a room on the top floor that was large and breezy with its own little balcony. The a/c worked well, the fan was quiet, the bed was a little squeaky but very comfy. The water pressure in the shower is a little low but other than that, the stay was perfect. The owners were very friendly and I really enjoyed my stay.
Basic and clean as a whistle”
I was surprised at how nice this was considering the price was so low and it was in such a popular area. I figured there must be a downside to it. But no, it was just fine. Comfortable bed, lovely hot shower, bathroom in good shape, the fan worked well, and the AC did too. No complaints. Nice family, everything spotless. Staying in the fort is so lovely. Save your money by staying in this low priced room and splurge in some of the lovely restaurants in the fort.
A week in Galle”
This hotel has rooms only, no food. In a jewellery shop, it is spotless and comfortable. Situated in the centre of the fort, there are plenty of cafes and places to eat nearby. The wifi doesn't work in the rooms, you have to get close to the reception area. Friendly family, quiet place, clean, good air con. Could do with tea making facilities in the rooms, at least a kettle.
Great hotel, very nice hosts, very good value”
Our stay at the Millennium Rest Hotel was very good. It was far cheaper than the other hotels in Galle Fort, very clean, and in a great location. The hosts of the hotel helped us with every request we had, and their daughters were lovely and cheerful. The rooms are simple and could perhaps do with some more furniture (table and chair) but for the price, that was hardly an issue. The father of the family that owns the hotel also has a jewel shop downstairs, and he was far nicer than the other jewellers who would harangue us on the street looking for business! I can't recommend the hotel enough.
Inside the Fort”
There was a glass door open to a tiny balcony but no curtain, I could see the windows from other household. Since there was no table from the room, I put everything on the floor, quite inconvenient. The shower was broken.
Room Lacked Many Advertised Features”
We enjoyed our 5 night stay in the hotel's Twin Room, but many of the features listed in Agoda's room description were missing. There was no hair drier, no desk, no in room safe, no daily newspaper and bottled water only on the first day. These were little things but we were also expecting "city views". In reality the one window was internal, looking out onto a staircase abd across to another room's bathroom window. Finally, the matresses were very thin. Having said all that, the room was adequate, the a/c was good and the roof-top balcony was the ideal spot for an evening beer. The owner and his family were very friendly and obliging. I would stay here again, but not in the Twin Room.
Just the job!”
This is a lovely little hotel. The owner was friendly (although he must stop trying to sell you gems as soon as walk through the door!) the room at the top felt airy and spacious - everywhere was spotlessly clean,
Great location and kind owner family”
Perfect location in the Fort area - very close to the wall so you can hear the ocean. Great view from rooftop deck (just needs some furniture) and from our room. However they put us in an inside room until we looked around and found the room on the top floor and they moved us - look for that room - it's beautiful, windows on two sides and close to roof. No breakfast but plenty choices nearby. Family extremely warm and friendly and helpful - they arranged a tuk tuk for touring the area, a car to get to Ella and we bought some of their lovely jewelry!
Awesome little guest house”
Make no mistake this is a guest house not a hotel. You have to walk through a jewellers and the family living room to get to the stairs. However the room was really great. It's light, airy, and comfortable - no crumbling plaster like in many Lanka hotels. Also, the roof terrace at the top is wonderful. You get a great view over the period galle rooftops. It's a shame that this location is underused, because there is no seating up there.
I would certainly stay here again if I'm ever in Galle. The room was large with fan, a/c, hot water, large comfy bed and it was nice and quiet. The family are lovely and the owner's English is excellent. He had good advice on places to eat and arranged a tour for me.
Good place to stay in the Fort”
I had the room with the balcony on the back of the building. Very clean room with good wifi. , The family is very friendly, and the restaurant across the street is great. I was very happy with my stay in Galle.
Simple and comfortable room”
A small and non-descript place to stay, at the back of a jeweller's shop. Comfortable enough, but lacking in atmosphere. Not really a place to meet other travellers. No breakfast included. Probably better options nearby.
Superb family run hotel in the heart of the Fort”
staff were great and the location was superb to stay within the fort. walked for 2 days around the immediate area and snorkelled for hours just 100m away. great food at the small local boutique restaurants!
Super clean wellocated friendly family guesthouse”
We stayed 2 nights. The guesthouse is in the fort so everything is walking distance. We had a tuktuk to for a whole day to visit turtle farm fisherman teaplantation temple jungle island and spice garden with massage. We had a wonderfull time. Galle is the most trendy place in Sri Lanka Dont miss it. Thank you for our stay with you ! For my beautifull rings. Our Daughters loved them too the fit perfect! Thank you for the dropoff at the trainstation on 11 Januari. We strongly andvice to stay there and chevk out the gems store. You ll love it! See you later. We ll comme back !
Perfect location and friensly staff”
We stayed in Millenium Rest Hotel for one night moving from Colombo do Unawatuna. The fort are really small, you go through it in half a day. It is almost as a small reservation for tourists, just a few Sri Lankan people are here. But a lot of places with good food and drinks you can find here, with the taste of Europe. Owner of the hotel give us advices also for our next days, was really friendly and helpfull and not pushy.
Very clean family guesthouse.”
We stayed in this beautiful family run guest house for 3 days. It was very clean and comfortable. The room we had was at the top of the house with a terrace and access to roof space, where we watched the fireworks at New Year. The family were all very friendly, kind and helpful.
