Even though the room was small and compact, but it is just enough for a solo traveller. The room was really neat and clean, however, bathroom's water drainage was slow. Many buses will pass by this hotel. About 2-3 mins walk to bus stop to many other places of interest in Taichung. Value for money as well!

Cheap and good location”
The location is quite nice as there is a bus stop in front of the hostel, which can directly bring you to Feng Chia night market (a bit far though). The dormitory room is clean and the pillow and bed are very comfortable. However, the shared bathroom is sort of wet and not very clean. Some of the drains are stuck with hair. Overall, it’s a nice place to stay for travellers with a limited budget.

Let’s start with the FEW positives. The breakfast is quite nice and they provide you with a towel for free... and some might argue they got A view over the city. Besides that... One of the worst hostel/dorm experiences after 4.5 years traveling. There’s literally nothing that could be more impractical to keep things quiet and peaceful in this place... The entrance sliding door to the dorm as well as the roll-up curtains for the beds are incredibly loud... that’s especially great if people move around till 2am every single night, and starting at 6am again. Only two toilets for 20+ people, and no hand soap at most sinks. No washing machine nor laundry service. Super disgusting smell of cold smoke in the dorm, probably somehow coming through the air-con. The lockers couldn’t be more dirty and moldy. The common area feels like a freezer. They also start “cleaning” the dorm while half of the people still laying in bed, again, the procedure and tools used couldn’t be louder. Not recommended!

Basic Accommodation Only | 超級陽春的飯店”
I've stayed at other economical hotels in Taipei and Taichung of similar or lower room rates. They have warmer staff service and facilities. I was given a room at level 9 and immediately almost got knocked on the head by the coat hanger by the door as it fell over when I was hanging my coat. It was a lightweight 3 legged standing coat hanger. The bathroom drain has a hair trap put in so the water does not drain well. The bathroom floor quickly got flooded and I had to call the service desk twice before they would cone over and remove the trap. The shower area is not separated by a door from the sink and toilet bowl, so the floors will be wet once you use the shower. Its a bad experience if you are familiar with other hotels in Taiwan of similar price range. The hotel room nor the floors does not come with water dispensers so you'd have to go to Level 7 to fetch hot water or drinking water if you run out of the two complimentary bottles of water at your room. Stay if you only want a bed and hot shower for an overnight stay. Do not expect anything else welcoming. Also, if you have luggage to deposit prior to check-iin time, note that you'd be expected to leave your stuff un-manned/un-tagged at Level 7, anyone can take it and no one will know. I'm never staying at Mini West Hotel again. My previous stay experience with Prague BNB Xitou, Ximen Airline Hotel and CityInn Hotel were cheaper and way better. Room rate for 31 Dec one night stay: USD89.80 /NT2,478

Cozy, well-designed place with friendly staff”
I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was very accommodating, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the amenities were more complete than I had thought looking at their profile. I loved the interiors and convenient location. I spent two restful nights at Mini West and would definitely stay with them again.

It is ok ”
There was only 1 mixed room of about 30 beds, my neighbors were two men who snored a lot... you need to check if there is hot water before using the bathroom and if its not, you need to ask the staff (I once took bath with cold water cause it was too late to ask for hot water). The rest is fine, I like its lobby with brightness. Maybe if there is next time visiting Taichung, I will try other hostel in other area.

They use Sealy beds so it is very comfortable. Toilets and showers was dirty though. Location is next to bus station but away from Taichung train station

Good point : The staffs are really kind. And they can speak in English. The dormitory room was clean and also bathroom too. It was really good upon it's cheap price. Bad point : The dormitory room is a lil bit unconvenient. Because you have to use it with Male and Female. You have to be careful when you change your clothes. And the single room was really nice and very very clean..however it was really cold too..becuase of air conditioner.

The hotel is modern and clean. They use Seally mattress! The bed sheet and duvet cover were of top quality, better than many 5 stars hotels! Breakfast was local Taiwanese style but good. Definitely value for money.

Everything is fine, just think if the hostel is full in the shared room, will be difficult for bathroom (2 toilets for men) and only 3 showers for 20 beds ! Otherwise just so perfect.

隔音不是很好 ”
My total stay was four days as I went apartment hunting. Let me share the bad first: the entrance way from the street to the elevator just plain stinks. It was unwashed and reeked of cigarettes. This might not be the hostel's fault as there are stairs leading to a bar/pub in the same entrance, but it's first impressions that sometimes leave a negative feeling during the rest of the stay. The wifi was intermittent during peak hours and the bread served during breakfast was more than a day old. The plywood co-ed box I slept in was decent and clean as well as comfy, but the noise from the karaoke bar below the hostel could be heard after hours. Strangely enough, conversations from the lobby/lounge didn't leak into the sleeping area even when the sliding door opened and closed frequently by the many a night-owl guests that rifled through their belongings all hours of the night. Lastly, the day-time manager berated the night shift desk clerk as I ate breakfast. I speak Mandarin and felt uncomfortable during the exchange. The good: it's price was quite good for the accommodations offered. The bed was comfy and the ac was a refreshing break from the humid, sticky icky day time heat. The showers were nice and the water temperature/pressure was easily adjustable. The staff were friendly and quite helpful and spoke English well, except for the hostel manager whose English was quite poor. Overall, worth it!

I've been here several times, it's still a good hostel. However, the breakfast isn't as good as it used to be. Also, as a shared room with bathroom inside, there should be a sign to advise people not use hairdryer in the midnight, the noise is really annoying!

The owners are super nice, and the facilities were fine as well. But we got not really good experience with the cleanliness of the room. Maybe the owner need to communicate to the cleaner more to pay more attention to every detail of the room. But anything other than that was wonderful.
