Very nice « traditional » house in mud village of Misfah”

Located in the wadi/breezy part of the old village, the Old Misfah house is trying to keep the traditional style of construction and adapting it to tourism... very easy to find as it is we’ll sign-posted. very good food, very friendly staff, amazing honey dates and Omani coffee upon arrival. Be aware that comfort is minimal (but that’s the charm of the place!). Extremely clean.

    Never wanted to leave”

Misfah Old House is in one of the most peaceful, quiet settings I’ve ever been. It’s a little piece of lush green paradise surrounded by rock canyons and dry deserts. This village is filled with very conservative families who make their lives here. If you are a loud family or would rather dress in your own western way (instead of covering arms and legs) then maybe this village isn’t the place for you. Misfah Old House itself is quiet as well, and filled with the typical amazing Omani hospitality, great food, and charming rooms. I would highly recommend it!

Quiet boutique hotel in traditional village”

We wanted to stay here for a while but it is in high demand and often booked out so when we finally secured a couple rooms we were very happy. We were not disappointed. The hotel location in the middle of the old Misfah Al Jebreen Village is perfect for a relaxing retreat as no cars are plowed in the village. The location amongst the palm trees is tranquil. Staff were super friendly and the rooms are very simple and traditionally furnished. We would go back anytime.

Authenic stay, simple but worth it! And a beautiful walk!”

If you want to escape the sanitized tourist hotels and have a somewhat authentic guesthouse experience, stay here! The Old House is simple but very nice. The rooftop restaurant and hangout area is very pleasant. Note that you will have an early night here and no alcohol is available. The walk through the Falaj to the new village and back is a good hour and a must! The Old House also has a number of interesting organized hikes on offer, the descriptions on their black board were about the most comprehensive information on that I found during the whole Oman trip. If we had had more time, I would have done the full day trek towards Wadi Auf and the car transport back (85OMR for 4 ppl). Unfortunately we had to move on.

    Delightful oasis”

Really nice authentic place, in a beautful old Oman village with a lot of soul, nestled between the mountains in a lush oasis and taken care of by fantastic people!

We could only stay for 1 night, and really regret. It's a place to stay for a couple of days and explore the beautiful area.

Interesting place to stay in the mountains of Oman”

Kind staff, unique location, great dinner

We enjoyed our stay at this guest house. Staff were friendly and kind. Our room was simple (mats on the floor) but clean. The shared bathroom was a bit cramped and the shower door needs fixing but it wasn't a big problem. To get here you need to go up the paved/steep mountain road and park on the side of the mountain road and enter the village by foot. It was interesting to stay in this village, walking around to see how the locals live. Dinner/breakfast was included. Dinner served up on the roof was a great atmosphere and the food was delicious. Breakfast was pretty basic (toast, hard boiled egg, cereal). A bit pricy to stay here but if you want to spend time in a quiet mountain village, I'd recommend you check it out.

Tipp mind. 2 Tage!

    landestypische Atmosphäre in wundervoller Umgebung”

Rustig gelegen, gezellige sfeer, basic kamer
