My husband and I stayed at Mitsui Garden Hotel Shijo during cherry blossom season and Kyoto is absolutely blooming at this time of year! The Mitsui Garden Hotel is close to a number of buses which provides easy access to all the must-see attractions. The bus system is very easy to use and the lovely hotel staff provided us with a bus route map on the first day we arrived there and allowed us to stow our luggage there as check-in isn't until 2pm. The train line is a bit further away - 10 minutes, however, there are many little shops to keep you entertained as you are walking to the station. The fresh food market is around 12 - 15mins walk away and is a great place for buying Japanese lollies for gifts. Gion is a short 10min bus ride away. The rooms are adequate for Japan - smaller than western hotels but completely liveable for the traveller who is sensible with luggage.
Great hotel with pretty much everything you need.”
Finding a hotel room for 3 people is not an easy thing in Kyoto, luckily we found Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo. Its central location is very convenient to to go local attractions with buses, subways and railways. There is a Family Mart convenient store right down stairs for all your daily needs. The hotel is pretty clean and the decoration is updated with a nice looking lobby and big elevators. Wifi is free and the speed is good. Breakfast was okay, the buffet selection wasn't too many. The tea provided in room was actually very tasty. The best thing is there's public (hot spring) bath is included with the price. It's quite popular with lots of customers, wish they would provide towels at the bath and extend the hours a little bit. Our stay was very pleasant, and it's a good hotel with the whole package.
Charming boutique hotel”
my friend and i had a wonderful time at mitsui garden hotel kyoto shijo. although you need to walk across three blocks from the metro station (with luggages!) to the place and it could be a little hard to find, its location is actually very convenient once you get familiar with the area. the interior of the hotel is very chic and like most hotels in japan, very clean. the staff are helpful too, at least they try very hard, but don't expect they can speak fluent english.
pleasant stay at Mitsui Garden”
i had a very comfortable stay at the mitsui garden hotel in kyoto. the rooms are more modern and spacious than your average japanese hotel and i love the cute yukatas provided. staff was helpful with sightseeing tips and the location is very convenient - you can take many different buses to all of the main attractions from the bus stop down the block. there's a convenience store around the corner and while there are not too many restaurants nearby, the few that are around are very good. finally, my favorite thing about the hotel is the onsen-type bath on the first floor that is great for relaxing after a day of sightseeing.
Good hotel for business or vacation.”
the location of mitsui garden shijo is very convenient for business or sightseeing around kyoto. when arriving from kyoto station it's only 2 stops away to shijo/karasuma then another 10 minute walk to the hotel. the service was alright and the room was more than adequate in terms of size, amenities and being clean.
Highly recommand this very good hotel”
Good and convenience location, peaceful but close to the city, within 10 min can walking to 河原町, 15 min by bus to JR Kyoto station, quiet and clean room, comfortable spa can make you relax after a day of sightseeking, staffs are nice and helpful, not too much chinese guest is supernumerary surprise, my next Kyoto trip will stay Mitsui Garden Hotel again without hesitation
Great location and good service ”
Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo is a very clean and good service hotel. Geat location, only minutes walk to bus stop and subway station from the hotel and also nearby the shopping area by about 15 mins walking time.
Mitsui Garden Kyoto - Good”
Surprisingly, the hotel is very modern and nicely designed. It is conveniently located near Shijo Subway Station. Only around 7 minutes walk from the station to the hotel. It has Family mart (that open 24 hours) next door. SO you could buy drinks and food for breakfast very conveniently. Shijo is the prime area of Kyoto. If the wheather is nice, you can walk from the hotel to Gion (around 30 minutes walk). It is a nice walk because those areas have a lot of shopping centers and very nice view with the cherry blossoms. After you crossed a bridge (where the river provides you with a great view), it is already the Gion area. With souvenirs shops and Geisha theater there.
A good quality room at a reasonable price ”
We enjoyed our stay at Mitsui Garden Shijo. The room was really good, the staff were very friendly and it was well located. It has a great spa facility which was fantastic after a long day looking at Kyoto attractions.
Mitsui Garden Hotel, Kyoto Shijo”
Three of us stayed at this hotel for two nights and really enjoyed it. The rooms are a pretty good size and everything was clean and comfortable. The hotel itself is very centrally located. The main street nearest the hotel (Shijo-dori)seems to be one of the main shopping streets in Kyoto and leads to the river and into Gion. The hotel is also a couple of minutes walk from the subway and about 15-20 minutes walk from Nijo-jo castle and quite a few temples. There's also a convenience store nearby and the hotel has its own in-house 'onsen' with no extra charge. Lovely! The free wi-fi is also a plus. We didn't have any meals at the hotel, but again, there are several little restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel (and a really good yakitori joint!). Overall it's a good hotel and we had nothing negative to say about it.
Clean and classy Kyoto hotel”
Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo is a very clean and classy hotel just off the main drag. It features a public bathing facility, laundry machines, vending machines, a second floor restaurant and a first floor lounge. The bed is large enough for two Americans to sleep on and there was little to no noise from the outside. It is a bit far from the JR Rail station but not very far from the subway.
i'm very satisfied by the hotels' overall services and i would definately choose to stay in Mitsui garden shijo again if ever arrive at Kyoto.Prices are fair for the services that the hotel offers and way better than similar hotels in the area. Also there is no extra charge for extra bed which is a bonus. The only down point was the staff's ability to communicate in english (as every where else all over Japan) and the hot spring bath is really tiny.
Wonderful Hotel & a great price”
The hotel first of all was very easy to find because if you take the bus 50 from B-2 of Kyoto station, it reaches right to the front door. Very friendly staff and the hotel was very clean. It was especially nice because it is on the road Shijo(name of the road) and it took one bus ride to go anywhere. Bus #12 would take you to the golden temple and any other bus will take you to your desired destination. Lastly, maybe it was 10 min away from the Kyoto station which is definitely a plus.
Comfortable and well located”
This fairly modern hotel is well presented and is located about 2km from Kyoto Railway station (and Shinkansen)on the Number 50 bus route. Rooms are clean, comfortable bed and quite adequate but typically is a bit small - like every other hotel room in Japan. Fast and free cable internet with your own computer. The hotel's bath on level 1 is very popular in the early evening. Don't get your hotel mixed up with the Mitsui Gardens Kyoto Sanjo nearby. Close to excellent value restaurants nearby.
Great place,friendly staff!”
When we visited Mitsui Garden Shijo, the staff was very friendly and gave us suggestion of local attractions and local foods. the place is walking distance to bus stop and subway. The room was not big and not too small either but comfy to stay. They got onsen and it was quiet relieving after a long walk all day. overall it is really recommended.
A pleasant and convenient stay ”
The hotel is conveniently located in Shijo area and very close to the bus stop. It's also only about 5 mins walk from a major subway station. There are a lot of restaurants around open late at night and a reasonably priced supermarket close by. Hotel staff was very friendly helpful; to make up for their English, hotel staff often times just ran up to my room to personally show to how to fix the problems I had after I spoke to them on the phone. The public bathhouse is also an experience that you cannot miss; I got addicted to taking shower in the onsite bath house since my bathroom was very small. The room size is a bit tiny than what I am used to but the bed was very comfortable. Over all, I really like this hotel.
Good location and very spacious”
Made a booking here as we had managed to under-book accommodation to cover our stay in Kyoto. This hotel turned out to be really modern, located within close proximity of Shijo station and the staff were very welcoming. The room we occupied was quite large for such a centrally placed hotel, although we did pay more than for the previous accommodation. However for a short stay (1 night), the cost wasn't as expensive as it could have been.
Mitsui Garden was a great place to stay in Kyoto. We were there for 2 nights and managed to visit a large variety of temples using their bus system which ran almost outside the door step of the hotel. There were plenty of restaurants around the hotel as well with a family mart a couple doors down for getting late night snacks. The room was clean and comfortable, with internet provided.
This Cozy and great located hotel, offers a Buffet breakfast with a los of dishes, from Japanesse until american food options. Nearby subway Shijo station, castle Nijo, Nishiki market and Kyoto Tower, as a few locations to say. Totally recomended!!
Thank you for staying at Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo. We are glad that you have left a nice comment here. Fortunately, we are located in central Kyoto. It is easy for our guests to go to famous places like Nijojo Castle or the Kyoto JR station by city bus. Moreover, you can go to the Shijo metro station or the Nishiki market on foot. When one goes around popular places in Kyoto, “One Day Bus Pass” is something you should have for sightseeing. Our guests can buy the bus pass at the ticket vending machine next to the reception. We hope this gives our guests a great advantage for sightseeing in Kyoto. Furthermore, celebrating the 20th anniversary of our hotel our restaurant serves the special breakfast in which includes European dishes as well as Kyoto style Japanese dishes. The Japanese freshly cooked rolled omelette (Dashimaki Tamago) and Kyoto home cooking (“Obanzai”) are popular with our guests. The omelette is prepared by the chef in the front of you. The Kyoto home cooking is ma
mitsui garden - comfortable”
the mitsui garden hotel was very good. a friend and i came to see as much of kyoto as we could in a day and a half. it is well located to see many of the world heritage listed sites if you dont mind walking. the restaurants in the area all seemed a touch more expensive than the places we could find in tokyo, which we were disappointed about.
