Always an option when other hotels are booked”
The staff is very friendly. Only draw back is that there is no elevator. This is hard when you have heavy luggages to carry up the stair to the fourth floor...

When you book the cheapest single room in an Asian capital...”
...then I guess you don't have much leverage to complain. Features of my 12$ per night accomodation: - The bathroom smelled like death - The bathroom door couldnt be closed (so my room smelled like death as well) - Vientiane is a quite city overall but its noisiest spot was probably in front of my window - No remote control so no way of using that TV - A/C worked somehow but then again, not really. Couldnt set the temperature I wanted - A couple of small ants in my bed - Some more tiny insects in the bathroom + Very friendly staff, helpful with ordering a taxi + Aside from the smell (of death)and the few insects the room was clean + Location is great + Good coffee All in all, quite nice as soon as I left my room but entering it I thought this is not worth 12$ per night.

Only for couple of days”
It's ok for few days to see city center. It's an old place, small room, noisy and not very comfortable in common. WiFi and shower are good. Bed is so-so.

Really Bad”
I came at 9 pm from airport to hotel. I book allready before. The Man at the reception said they dont have any room. I was to late. Check in was 2 pm 🤣🤣🤣 Never heard something like this. He call his Boss and He give me a room in the other hotel beside. The room was horroble. Believe me. Take care before booking this hotel

Good location and at a good price”
the mixok guesthouse is a comfortable enough place in the centre of vientiane. the exterior looks a bit tired and could use a lick of paint, but the interior is fine. the room is a bit spartan, but the air-con works well, the bathroom is clean, the shower has hot water, and the toilet flushes well. the bed was a bit soft, but i'm used to rock-hard mattresses, so maybe for others the mattress would be ok. the tv had an eclectic choice of channels ranging from thai tv, lao programmes, espn in english, chinese stations, aussie news, and the most entertaining nightly news from north korea. the hotel apparently closes their doors at 23:00 so late night revellers may be a bit put off. overall i'd recommend the mixok guesthouse to anyone who needs a comfortable place at a low rate.

Great central location”
A great place to stay if you are passing through Vientiane. A little confusing on arrival as there is a Mixok Inn and a Mixok Guesthouse 5 doors away from each other. They are both owned BH the same person though so one will advise which one you are staying at. Both include breakfast but you have to walk to the larger of the two to have it which is no issue as its so close. The rooms are clean and feel safe. The tuk tuk from the main bus station drops you in the centre which is just over the road from the hostel which is great or just ask for Mixok and most drivers will know where it is in Mixay Village.

Good Value For Vientiane ”
I booked this guest house on Agoda and paid for a double room. I've stayed in numerous hotels and guesthouses over the years and the standards are low and bad value for the money you pay. Mixok is a newer building than most of the run down derelict accommodation in this area of town. The rooms are new and decent and unusually for Vientiane budget hotels everything works. Other positives are an efficient A/C unit, cable TV with a good choice of channels and the hotel has a good CCTV system for security. I was given room I found noisy as it was near the road. I requested to change to a quieter room and was given a room on the third floor away from the room which I really appreciated. All told I don't know a better place to stay in Vientiane in this price bracket. Breakfast is served at the Mixok Inn a few doors away from 7-10am. It's very simple, a couple of eggs and a baguette with jam and self serve coffee and tea, but its enough to get you started in the morning. They have no association with Mixok, their annoying presence is just incidental. Mixok is a decent place by Vientiane standards and I would stay there again without hesitation.

Decent, well-located hotel”
This was a good comfy room with great aircon and great Internet. The breakfast was supplied by a sister hotel about 200m down the road (despite the guy who checked me in telling me it was next door). The food was ok, basic but decent quality. Given what I'd paid elsewhere in the country Mixok seemed over priced .... however I guess Vientiane is the capital so it must be expected. I ended up staying an extra night in Vientiane (due to missing the bus out!) but I went for a different hotel (Bayern Guesthouse) which was much nicer and cheaper.

Simple hotel in a central location”
If you travel to Laos to stay in the hotel then don´t go to Mixok Guesthouse, however, if you just want a cheap place to relax after all the walking this would probably be the place in Viantiane. It is right in the centre of the city, the rooms have a bathroom with hot water (not to strong though), tv with sat, air con... in general really good for the cost 11 to 13 euros. Btw, the breakfast is included (in its twin hotel 10 metres away), it is basic but enough to start the day.

Clean, spacious guesthouse in central location”
We ended up staying 4 nights rather than 2 at this very useful and efficient guesthouse in the heart of own town Vientiane. The breakfast is average but everything else is very good, big spacious rooms with cable tv and a nice balcony area to watch the sub go down. A 2 mins walk from the beach, great restaurants and all the sites in walking distance.

Great location and price”
Great hotel for the price in Vientiane. Have stayed here several times before and will keep coming back. Good wifi and aircon. Right downtown and a cheap price, not much else one needs in Vientiane.

Great location and nice room”
we enjoyed our stay here. the room was clean but smelled a little bit smoky when we first arrived. staff were very friendly and always greeted us with a smile. free breakfast of eggs, bread and some fruit in the nearby mixok inn, which is great if you're on a budget. the guesthouse is very close to the museum and cultural hall in vientiane and also to the mekong where there are lots of restaurants and a night market. wifi was occasionally a bit patchy but better than in some places we've been to.

Basic room ”
We stayed here for 1 night because we want to catch early morning flight. The room is clean with very basic need, but surprisingly wi-fi connection is very good for 2 floor room. The location of this guesthouse is very near to night market and surrounding with a lot of restaurants. The good thing is the room rate was included breakfast and it served in mixok inn(new building), we still able to had our breakfast (serve 7AM onward) before heading to airport.

Simple, Clean and Close to Major Sights”
We usually stay in Vientiane as a stopover. The Mixok Guesthouse is definitely a no frills accommodation, but it's clean enough if you're just looking for a place to crash. Sometimes, the noise from the street can be quite loud and the room we stayed in had a musty smell to it. The good thing about the hotel is that it is close to nice restaurants, the river, temples, travel agencies and all the other major sights in Vientiane.

Mixok Guesthouse not Mixok Inn”
When staying at this guesthouse do not get it confused with the Mixok Inn on the corner. They are not the same even though the breakfast offered is provided by the Mixok Inn. Everything with this place was fine until we tried to get our breakfast on the day we left. The room was clean, the hot water was decent, and the staff was friendly. On the day we left though, we tried to get the promised breakfast, but apparently, contrary to the belief of the guesthouse (they think it's 7 AM), Mixok Inn does not start serving breakfast until 7:30 AM. If you have an early morning bus, and you have already paid for your breakfast with your booking, you will not be able to get it or any money back. Otherwise, this is a decent place to stay.

Good hostel, good location”
we really liked this hostel and wished we could've stayed longer. really good location - close to the night markets and close to lots of restaurants. lots of backpackers staying there so easy to meet people. staff really helpful booking a bus for the next morning and able to store our bags until we had to leave. free breakfast was really nice (1minute walk down the road at the mixok inn)- eggs, baguette, tea/coffe, jam and fruit.
