Basic room ”
We stayed here for 1 night because we want to catch early morning flight. The room is clean with very basic need, but surprisingly wi-fi connection is very good for 2 floor room. The location of this guesthouse is very near to night market and surrounding with a lot of restaurants. The good thing is the room rate was included breakfast and it served in mixok inn（new building), we still able to had our breakfast (serve 7AM onward) before heading to airport.
Well priced and centrally located to the travelers area”
The price for a room is approx 18 USD per night which is quite reasonable. The rooms are small but adequate for 1 or 2 nights before moving on. The staff will arrange onward bus tickets and transportation for travel to other destinations. The restaurant serves good coffee and breakfasts.
Good customer service...”
I reserved one night room at this location and when I arrived all the room are booked. The staff was be able to get a room from a hotel across for me....
The location is brilliant, although it’s situated on a main road so wherever you are in the guesthouse yo can hear the traffic. Avoid the front rooms which overlook the street as the traffic noise is unbearable. It’s an extremely basic guesthouse but it’s quite cheap for Vientiane , 130,000 for a double room. The lobby is nice, they have a cafeteria and seating but the rooms really need renovating. No toiletries or soap supplied. WiFi is touch in the rooms and go but works well in the lobby. They offer a decent next day laundry service @10,000 kip a kilogram. Staff are fairly friendly but English is limited. No elevator of course. They have cctv security so it’s secure in that respect. If you can afford to pay several dollars more a night you can get a lot better hotel but if you’re on a tight budget this isn’t a bad option for a night or two. The Mixok inn 50 meters down the road is no longer the same business; they are now separated. You’ll need to ask front desk if you want your room cleaning. I was there 3 nights and it wasn’t cleaned but I was alone in a double room so it was okay. And I am environmentally conscious so I don’t think it’s necessary to change the towels everyday.
Central, simple and effective”
Unfortunenately had to leave earlier (two days) than plneed and expected. Was called away and then met with the hotel policy, so in this respect it is better not to book too many days in advance because the hotel policy does not cater for reinbursements but possibly only for rescheduling! (awaiting approval)
guesthouse good but a very bad trip with the bus to pakxe . we payed for 6 places to mixok but we got only 3 seats in the bus. we claimed our money back by phone but mixod was not responseble she sayd. our advice
Great central location”
A great place to stay if you are passing through Vientiane. A little confusing on arrival as there is a Mixok Inn and a Mixok Guesthouse 5 doors away from each other. They are both owned BH the same person though so one will advise which one you are staying at. Both include breakfast but you have to walk to the larger of the two to have it which is no issue as its so close. The rooms are clean and feel safe. The tuk tuk from the main bus station drops you in the centre which is just over the road from the hostel which is great or just ask for Mixok and most drivers will know where it is in Mixay Village.
Friendly and easy.”
I checked in on Saturday with friendly staff, and it took a few minute to got the key room. There is a coffe shop beside the guesthouse and there are many tour packages for the tourist to choose if you want to sightseeing. And if you want to book the bus to the airport or the border is easy.
I walk from the bus station and try to fine the hotel. It very easy to find because it locate in the center. You can walk to the night market just one block away.you can find manny food shop around this area also. The hotel is locate in a quiet place also no need to worry about any noise. The opposit to it is a Meesai temple.
Great location, good value, clean”
The location is perfect. Directly opposite are two small streets with loads of great restaurants on. A two minute walk takes you to the centre of town and it's five minutes to the history museum and river. the hostel was good value, clean and a big room with big windows. the road outside is very noisy but not at night and our room was at the back so we had no trouble at all.
Short and sweet”
We ended up checking into the wrong hotel at 4am (the Mixok Inn across the road) the day before our booked night as our bus arrived early. When we woke we found this out but had decided to leave straight away for Vang Vieng. None the less Mr Tou sorted this confusion out at no extra cost!! The room was basic but very clean!!
Perfect for a couple of nights”
I had a nice stay at this hotel. It was cheap and I have no complaints. There was no lift but I didn't have an issue with the stairs. Wifi worked fine. Great place to stay if your looking for something cheap and central.
Basic Rooms, Clean Enough”
This is a very basic hotel. Good for an overnight stay or two if you're just in Vientiane as a stopover as most people do. There's nothing really special about the hotel. It is clean enough, but the street noise can be quite loud. Breakfast is included and is again basic. But the hotel is close to all the major sights in Vientiane. It is walking distance from good restaurants, bars, and the river.
Simple, Clean and Close to Major Sights”
We usually stay in Vientiane as a stopover. The Mixok Guesthouse is definitely a no frills accommodation, but it's clean enough if you're just looking for a place to crash. Sometimes, the noise from the street can be quite loud and the room we stayed in had a musty smell to it. The good thing about the hotel is that it is close to nice restaurants, the river, temples, travel agencies and all the other major sights in Vientiane.
My stay was not very long but an ok one. ”
The Mixok guest house was just that OK. It was clean but the first room I had smelt of smoke because I was located right next to the public balcony. The second room I had was located away from the balcony and did not smell. Both rooms had dingy looking sheets but you could tell they had been cleaned. The room is what you pay for. It wasn't a bad stay just wasn't amazing.
Very ordinary guesthouse. Avoid!”
One of the worst experiences I have had over years and years of travelling in Asia. The room was horribly dirty, the sheets were ancient and appeared not to have been washed, there was a huge crack in the door allowing anyone to look straight into our room, and the staff were rude and disinterested. The breakfast was not bad but otherwise this place is a hovel. Avoid!!
Above average budget hotel”
I've stayed in numerous hotels and guesthouses over the years and the standards are low and bad value for the money you pay. Mixok is a newer building than most of the run down derelict accommodation in this area of town. The rooms are new and decent and unusually for Vientiane budget hotels everything works. Other positives are an efficient A/C unit, cable TV with a good choice of channels and the hotel has a good CCTV system for security. I found this noisy as it was near the road. I requested to change to a quieter room and was given a room on the third floor away from the room which I really appreciated. All told I don't know a better place to stay in Vientiane in this price bracket. Breakfast is served at the Mixok Inn a few doors away from 7-10am. It's very simple, a couple of eggs and a baguette with jam and self serve coffee and tea, but its enough to get you started in the morning. Mixok is a decent place by Vientiane standards and I would stay there again without hesitation.
Good Value For Vientiane ”
I booked this guest house on Agoda and paid for a double room. I've stayed in numerous hotels and guesthouses over the years and the standards are low and bad value for the money you pay. Mixok is a newer building than most of the run down derelict accommodation in this area of town. The rooms are new and decent and unusually for Vientiane budget hotels everything works. It's very simple, a couple of eggs and a baguette with jam and self serve coffee and tea, but its enough to get you started in the morning. They have no association with Mixok, their annoying presence is just incidental. Mixok is a decent place by Vientiane standards and I would stay there again without hesitation.
No Frills Place to Sleep in Decent Location”
A basic no frills guest house in Vientiane. Could not complain as it was priced well on Agoda as an "insider deal". Agoda price was much cheaper than their walk-up rate and the rate offered to me when I wanted to extend my stay. No worries, just go upstairs and book another night on Agoda over their free WIFI rather than pay at the front desk...ka ching just saved another 8 bucks. Good location on Guest House row and a 5 minute walk to the river front and all the resto's. Good hot water, slow WIFI, decent AIRCON, handful of English channels on the Tele and rather comfy bed. I would likely stay here again based on value and price. Lodging in Vientiane is much more expensive than other locations in Laos. Prices are on par with Luang Prabang but the rooms are much less value. If you are into ladyboys this is the perfect location for you as you will have a good selection along the street that fronts the Guest House.....LOL
with the rate I pay USD20 its worth the money due to the convenience location to all the interesting places near by, 15 min by taxi from airport USD 6, 10 min walking to mekong river and night market which is available daily, 15 min walking to morning market also available daily, lots of bars and food stalls along the road, near to back packers or other economy hotels if you change your mind on place to stay.If you would like to travel to Vanvieng do get a public express bus behind the morning market which is so much cheaper than what the travel agent charge you, also other express bus to other areas.
