The worst hotel in Japan”
Imposed a 10 am checkout without any option to extend even for a fee unless paying for another night. Advertises swimminjg pool and health facilitires but doesn't mention that you have to pay to use. No food available after 8ps - amazing. A right dump with absolutely no atmosphere. The hotel is also out of town.
No swimming pool. Disappointed.”
I chose the hotel because of the swimming pool. At the check-in, at the front desk, what was our surprise when we were informed that guests are not allowed to use the pool. There was no information saying the pool was not available to guests, on the contrary, among the pictures you can find pictures of the pool. The hotel did not offered any alternative but to cancel the reservation. Eventually, that's what I did. We were in the middle of the holiday, hours away from home, with no reservation. Frustrated, with our vacation ruined, we returned home. Watch out! You too could be caught in this trap!
The room was huge and clean. All the staff were so professional and kind. Overall our stay was great
An extremely good and friendly hotel”
It was my third time staying at this hotel, so convenient with its location, really enjoyed their amazing breakfast as usual and took advantage for their bicycles. A beautiful view of the river from our hotel room. Highly recommended
standard hotel, no special”
We stay at this hotel for one night, and make ready to Shirakawa at next day. So, we stay at this hotel. This hotel is just a fare and standard hotel. Good to stay for transit.
Good hotel, must try.”

Clean and big room spaces , good BF, Varietyyof food and good taste”
Big room, nice river view and cleanliness. Breakfast is good, plenty of variety food for older and younger to choose as they like. Good staff and good services.
Not up to standard”
Restaurants very restrictive on operational times. Use of swimming pool by residents is charged. No satellite TV.
Wonderfull stay poor food”
Buffet quality, variety and taste could be vastly improved. Seating could be more in keeping with the rest of the hotel. My objections may be a little harsh since I was expecting a regular restaurant instead of a buffet. I would stay at the hotel again, however, I would not eat at the buffet.
Comfortable, and extremely well looked after”
I think we may have accidentally booked a twin room - we went and saw our room and came back down, and told them we wanted one large bed, not two small beds. They actually upgraded us to a suite as it was the only room they had available with a big bed - and no extra charge! They simply wanted to look after us. Everything we needed, from random deliveries of salt and an international power adaptor, were delivered quickly to our room. Extremely courteous and hospitable.
Clean room, easy location and helpful staff”
Easy bus ride from the JR Gifu station though the bues doe snot run as frequently as I like. Once there, great staff, big clean rooms and fantastic rivew views. Interesting restaurants.
Very good hotel in town, except having hotspring ”
I was allocated in the room with a nice view of the river in bathroom, overseeing the Gifu Castle at the peak. Room is spacious, staff was friendly and helpful. Carpark have direct access to hotel room and is complimentary for hotel guest.
too far from city, no wifi in room”
beautiful hotel with amazing views of gifu castle”
the hotel has a magnificent lobby and the rooms have beautiful decors. the hotel has the ammenities and service of a 5-star hotel and is located by the scenic nagara river and famous mt kinka. staying in gifu provides a unique japan experience as the city is rich in history. magnificent hotel and our family stays there every time we travel to japan.
Lovely hotel and professional service”
We enjoyed the spacious and stylish room and bathroom. The rooms were in good condition and well cleaned. Staff were very professional and spoke perfect English. The checkout time was excellent as we did not feel rushed to leave. We did not have any problems.
lovely helpful hotel well situated”
location was excellent. we went out at night to see the cormorant fishing which was great. you can walk ther ib 15 minutes from the hotel. the town itself was largely shut down during the day so a descent hotel with facilities is important. the staff could not be more helpful. there was no problem either finding the hotel or parking the car.
Excellent hotel with impeccable staff”
A top hotel at a reasonable price with very professional, attentive but unobtrusive staff.
Smart, comfortable hotel in brilliant location”
gion's charm is in its narrow winding alleys and lanes, lined with old wooden buildings and discreet teahouse entrances, which glow with lantern light at night. the maifukan is right in the heart of the 'classier' feeling east side of gion, and close to lots of beautiful temples. it's also a comfortable walk into the town centre, and on several useful bus routes. the hotel is modern, with all mod cons - very comfortable, but although it's "japanese-style" accommodation, it's perhaps a little characterless in comparison to "real" ryokans. but there's plenty of character in the vicinity, so that doesn't matter. we enjoyed a fabulous, good value french-japanes meal at the "reve du garcon" restaurant on the hotel's ground floor.
Location OK if you have a car”
Surprising that resdients are charged to use the hotel pool - and it is therefore not used.
