MNL in an unpretentious hostel in an excellent location in Makati. It's quiet inside even though there is a hustle bustle outside. My mattress was soft and the WiFi was excellent. For this price, I expected a cold water shower; I was delighted to find hot water! Other places charge for a towel while MNL provided a towel as a matter of course. The place could be a little cleaner, but for the price, I am not going to complain. My only complaint was the air conditioning. It was turned up far too high and I could not adjust it. That would have been OK if I showed up with a blanket, but I didn't. I couldn't sleep because it was too cold. I recommend you book a fan room if possible or take a private room and control the AC yourself. When I go to Makati the next time, I will buy a cheap throw-away blanket and book myself into MNL.
Great staff, awsome location”
The bunkbeds are squeaky and shake with every move, but everything else is awesome. The breakfast is fresh and filling, the staff friendly and helpful and I had great conversations with the fellow guests. There's great food options around the hostel, for all kinds of budgets. Let them explain you how to take one of those funny jeepneys and if you go to intramuros, why not take the ferry in hulo and enjoy the soft breeze and interesting views of Passig river?
Unfairness of Hospitality”
Location is perfect - only took less than an hour travel from/to the Airport. Breakfast is okay - nothing special but appreciated. Bed is okay - Foam and Pillow are comfy but the only problem is I'm at the top of the double deck bed - so I felt a lot of movements or it's a quake bed. Showers and CR are good - they have heater / hot shower and Toilet is small but always clean. Staff is okay - They are approachable but the only problem with my case is that I requested to transfer from top bed to a bottom bed and they said they will transfer me to another bed if there's an available bed. So I waited until the last evening of my stay - most of the bed was empty and other room mates (foreigner) were able to transferred to another room but me - I'm still in the same bed coz they said other beds are already reserved for somebody. I felt like there's an unfairness between local guest and foreign guest. I can say that they are more accommodating with foreign guests than than guest.
My second home”
Staffs are very friendly and even cooked food for me but of course I shared it with everyone. Breakfast is okay since you get what you pay for so that's just bread, some spreads, milk and hard boiled eggs but for the price, it's really good. Kudos to Gilmar, Joanna, Bob and the one who gave me some Bicol express. You are amazing guys! My stay has always been fun and amazing.
Relatively fast wifi and great service”
The only thing I didn't like during my stay's breakfast, but overall, the place has excellent service and the place is always clean. The hostel also did not prevent me from getting some work done given it's relatively fast wifi and tables available. For 520 pesos, this place's a steal.
this is up there with one of my favorite hostels the staff are awesome and the common spaces are nice to hang out in. I found the rooms to be really clean and the showers and toilets are well look after. I stayed here on my way to PFF2015 :)
I feel at home”
I had a great time meeting with a number of fellow backpackers from around the world. The place is just within the Makati Business District and access to convenience store and food is just within the area. Breakfast is provided and the internet speed is just fine, they have friendly staff to assist you in wherever place in the Philippines you want to visit.
Enjoyable, cheap but modern and clean.”
We enjoyed our stay at the hostel. We only stayed for one night but we had absolutely no problems. Good value for money, good location and phenomenal showers (considering what we had been used to for the previous week at the Rice Terraces in North Luzon). Definitely one of the best hostels we have stayed in on our travels. Strongly recommend it for backpackers.
good for overnite stay between cities”
impressed with everything about this hostel...i am a fussy person but at this place i have no negatives except for the 2-bed room i found was too small,REALLY!!!. i then took the 4-bed room and fond that to be adequate...
Convenient location for all”
Had a good chance of meeting friendly room mate. Quiet room help in getting the sleep due to overstaying in the nightlife joints in Manila. Clean toilets and super friendly staff give you the family good feel and easy laid back attitude.
friendly staff and. make a instant foreign friend!”
Most of all the really good smell and fresh tower and bed. New air-conditioner also makes me smile. Friendly staff, Nice Public transportation and good for shopping.. I can enjoy local food at the public market around the hotel. but no window.. just door. actually I wonder about that. Have a nice trip!
Lovely and clean in great location”
A really new and clean hostel, we stayed in both dorm and private room and found them both good value. The staff were also very kind in fixing a problem with our booking and offering advice on things to do.
Provides service with a smile”
first time to stay in a hostel type lodging but i was very glad i did, it did not only provide me with a clean room but also a very clean and well-maintained toilet and bath rooms. i loved my stay in this hostel. i also liked the linens and towels provided because they smell good. plus the people running the hostel makes you feel really at home and welcome.
Great location near all the hot spots”
It's a no frills hostel with friendly staff and clean comfy accommodations. Perfect for backpackers or tourists who need just the basics. Hang with other guests in the lobby for their themed activity per night. Nice place!
Can do better ”
Breakfast was decent and the location not too bad but for the other points maybe it will get better after the renovations after January 2018. Let’s hope for the best but in the meanwhile keep an eye on the reviews..
They need to invest in fragrance and cleaning up. ”
When I arrived MNL there was a bad smell everywhere. But the staff are very friendly and nice. I was shown to my room and accomodated well. I asked if I need a towel and was told about where to have breakfast. but by the time I went to the bathroom and shower I couldn't barely stand the smell and the bad smell everywhere. It was extremely dirty. The room was nice and safe I was able to sleep very well but some cleaning and perfume and disinfectants around the place would make my stay and othee people's stay much better. I suggest rhe owner monitor their staff and invest not only in providing food and room but also a hygienic place to their customers. Thank you MNL for the safe stay. I hope there will be some improvements in the future. God bless.
WORST HOSTEL EVER”
This hostel is the worst hostel i've stayed in. Old dirty beds, pillows and not but not the least the bathroom has snails on it!!! I will never recommend this to anyone. Go somewhere else and run away from this place. DIRTY as hell. Shouldn't be in business no more!
To be avoided at all costs”
Having a night flight after an excellent trip in Vietnam, I made the mistake to choose this back-packer to sleep few hours. I would not recommend anyone to stay here: towel and linen were dirty, the room was smelly and noisy (continously heard the klaxons of the jeepneys), no window, the AC was leaking in the room and shared toilets were extremely dirty. I pay extra money for breakfast which is fact was just some crakers and piece of rotten watermelon. On top of that the staff was not particularly nice and the location not really recommandable. This backpacker might have had its glory days few years ago but even if you are short on money, it is not worth it. I hope that the hotel management will take strong action to remediate to the situation!
We arrived late about 10pm that night and needed to leave early the next morning so opted for this cheap accomodation. Our Uber driver didnt really know where it was but we found it eventually. The friendly staff greeted us knew who we were, and introduced us to the facilities and our room. Lovely room with bunk beds. My biggest qualm is cleanliness - there was a distinct cockroach-y smell all over the premises and the beds made my pajamas stinky.True enough a cockroach flew over my head in the bathrooms which was kinda gross. Don't think I'd ever come back.
Private room terrible and over priced!”
They dont make clear the private room has a shared bathroom. Very dirty. The staff, apart from the lady, are not polite and dont speak. They hold parties for friends and family in the common room like it's their own home. Thoroughly ripped off. Breakfast is basically just bread with toppings. ITs a shack in an area of good hotels. You can get a much better room for the same price. Hostel rooms maybe cheaper and ok
