Place is great and affordable for a very nice and cozy and quiet. Far away from the main public beach where it’s noisy and overcrowded. However. Staff in the kitchen serving breakfast lunch and dinner is VERY SLOW. Took us 1.5 hours for food that is not even that tender to eat! Staff is braless too! Not that I care but I think professionalism is important especially when you’re a receptionist for that matter.
Won't go back”
No TV reception. No batteries on the remote Felt like they didn't even bother to check that their facilities were working. Air conditioner was not working well. It iced completely, eventually we had to use the fan because it no longer worked. Went down to the reception but they didn't have any staff during the night to assist. Just the security guard. No decent beach. Mangrove area. Bad, very small road on our way in. Only good thing was that the room is spacious. Definitely didn't get my money's worth.
Dear Aireen, thank you so much for your valuable feedback and review here at Agoda. We are always very happy to read what our guest felt during their stay. Even everything would be more easy just telling your feelings to the person that can change things at the reception. You should address certain complaints to the ones who really can do something about it. Mangroves, if you have a problem with those please address the DENR, road or infrastructure please address the LGU in Moalboal, but please dont complaint to the Resort. At night time we do have 24 hours service with a well equipped and trained security guard in a fenced place. Yes we do have the one Guard to assist in any emergancy, but he wont be able to do repairs or attend to complaints about roads and mangroves in the middle of the night. Our house keeping tests Aircons, Fans, Watersupply when cleaning the room. Last not least What is the value of your money that its not worth a hotel room? Cheers
Very poor water pressure in showers, intermittent hot and cold, no pressure in sink, ”
Very poor air conditioning, bugs in room, televisions not working. Pool not properly maintained evidenced by cloudy water. (I own a pool—I know what it should look like when maintained well.). Really one of the most unpleasant vacation experiences. And I booked 8 rooms to accommodate a large family gathering.
Dear David, thank you so much for this write up at Agoda. We really appreciate to read honest and serious comments regarding our little hotel which is at a real low cost range. First let me explain that none of our air conditioning will ever cool a room to 16 degrees if the smart guest will keep the main door and the balcony sliding glass door full open, this surely wont work in your house either, it just jacks up the electric cost of your host. The pool is maintained well from our end, just if a huge group of drinking and eating people will enter the pool it might need a bit time to clean it up after. All the bacteria brought into the swimming pool will surely make it a bit cloudy over time, but as you mention, you surely know what happens to a pool if 30 people will spend a day in it while eating and drinking. Cheers and again thank you so much that you have spend 2 nights at a real bargain rate with a huge group without being charged a centavo corkage fee.
All 5 stars for this resort save for one. It's location did not showcase the white sands of Moalboal yet 4 stars for it was a perfect fit for a weekend my family and I were hoping for - a peaceful getaway from the busy city life.
Formerly Nice Place in Need of TLC”
The resort's owner clearly invested considerable money in building the place. However, it looks as if he gave up on it. The toilets don't flush without pouring a bucket of water into them. The door knob into the bathroom was loose, the exterior facia on some of the buildings are rain damaged and need replacing. The pool looked like a tank of skim milk that hadn't been topped off in a while. The staff is very nice and accomodating though. The place is low cost, but that shouldn't be an excuse for letting it get run down.
What an awful place, there is a goat pen which smells, goats make noises like bunch of babies crying. I paid extra for a room with a tv but tv doesn't work. Bathroom smells and dirty, faucet barely have any water coming out, when taking shower water goes all the way to the door and toilet. Internet is very slow. Location is not that great neither.
what an aweful guest. Yes we do have goats in a pen at the back of the resort, no one would smell the goat if not walking up to them, as this Pen is on purpose far from accommodation and restaurant. Maybe you just did not like a quiet and secured, secluded location with no party? Coz that is what we do have aside from space. Barely any water coming from the faucet might be because there is barely water in Moalboal. We shuttle it with our own truck to the resort for our guest. And support the neighborhood with water during this dry spill. The water problem is a political issue in Moalboal, thats not in our hands to change.
The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Place is pretty far from the public beach which was okay for us since the place is very peaceful and away from the crowd. Only issue we had was that it was evident that the pool's not clean.
The garden is nice and well maintained , staff is very friendly and helpful. The problem is only a bathroom, no hot water, toilet tank was broken, too primitive for year 2019. There is only one working electric socket. The place is for couples in my opinion.
Great for Couple and Pet!”
We had a great time with our baby pug in this resort. The staff were very accommodating.
Dear Michelle, thank you for the review, which we take very personal. It also happened that the resort was taken over in the middle of the night end of August by a filipino group led by the landowner of the property that we rented and improved in what you have experienced. It was his depp desire to take what he thought is his land with our improvements despite a legal lease contract and NO court order or whatsoever legal basis to do so. As he occupies and possesses what we have invested in now we have to find ways ...
A great expierance! ”
The food is really great! Reasonably priced. Some comments here say expencive? BS I say. Connie and Tonete are the best. The little beach right there is very nice at high tide. Hammocks on the shore to relax in the cool breezes are heavenly during brownouts and any time. Haha. When you go there, and you should, rent a scooter and putt around- all over Moalboal. We will defiantly come back soon. A beautiful place. Spreckency doutch?
Fantastic Views and Friendly Staff”
Gripes out the way first, though... I got the deluxe room for 2,300 pesos per night. No tv in the room. No wifi in the room. No complimentary coffee, shampoo or soap in the room. No fridge. Had dinner in the resort restaurant all five nights we were there - one meal had a large beetle in it. Fortunately, I was given the food (beetle included) free of charge. Gripes done. Now onto the positives. Views absolutely beautiful! Staff very friendly, and I liked that the reception ladies were relaxed and not dressed up in business attire like at the typical hotel or resort. The resort is a bit out of the way, but then, that's a plus in many respects - it's very quiet, and , as mentioned, the views are great. All in all, not sure I would return for this amount of money, given that I need wifi in the room and my partner enjoys a bit of tv now and again. But many positives, so it depends on what your preferences are, really.
I love everything about this resort! Loved the rooms, the bathrooms, the view from our room, everything! Amazing staff too! All of them were very nice and accommodating! Thank you! Our stay was really a pleasant one! We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Moalboal! ❤️☺️
The resort is remote and it’s a 3 hour drive from Mactan-Cebu International airport which makes the journey very tiring. The staff were friendly and they will personally guide you for the activities that they provide which is very good. The place is peaceful with not many people which makes the place the ultimate gateway for people who lives busy life and just want to get away from the crowd. The restaurant is average but the food will suffice your appetite. The room is average. No hot water. Room is nothing fancy but will meet the basic necessaries.
A resort far from everything but near to your heart...”
It's a hotel, far from stress... When we got there, we were warm welcomed by the staffs and my son was welcomed by the monkey hahaha... we were served with drinks and assisted us to our room, the room we've got doesn't have a TV nor a fridge nor a water heater, but we were accommodated to have coffee break by bringing us hot water in our room on their printed mug, so we still enjoy the place, we stayed in a little nipa hut with table so we enjoyed coffee break there. Due to a tiring feet, we just call it a day, by staying at the hotel and enjoy the dinner from the resort's restaurant, the meals are a little bit cheaper maybe since the place is in a remote area, not accessible to any near stores, but they have motorcycles available for rent to you can go to anyplace or restaurant you desired to dine. It has a stunning view of the pool while enjoying the overlooking view of the sea. A hotel that has enchanting seaview, and you'll never leave the place without having your selfie. Accommodating staff good right at your doorstep for everything you need. It has its own store so you won't bother to go outside especially when the rain pours. Thumbs up to this hotel and will definitely come back!
Quiet Remote Value”
The resort and staff were very nice in comparison to the other resorts in the area. Note: they do not have a Dive Center but can arrange diving for you at a nearby Dive Center. For us that was Asian-Belgium Dive Resort and they are very good.
It was great. ”
It was great. The whole stay was fun because we went to the mangrove area since it was lowtide and the water was really low. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. They attended to our needs right away
Quiet, relaxing ans hot”
Quiet resort. Not luxurious in any sense, but pleasant and good value. Internet avialble from some areas. Great owners, and always nice. Walking distance to beach. However, needs more activities. Only a wonky pool table avialble. Room was fine, and clean. Food very uninspiring ..best to walk to other nearby resort hotels.
comfortable and adventure filled”
Moalboal Beach Resort is a quiet place. Most sounds you can hear came from their animals. They have dogs, monkey, and some farm animals. Though you really don't have an actual beach, they have swimming pool and white beach is nearby. They also offer airport shuttle, call tricycle for you, and motor rental for easier transportation around Moalboal. Food in their restaurant is really good, as well as its price.
Solo backpacker weekend getaway”
Couldn't have asked for more! Moalboal Beach Resort was able to provide a great weekend getaway to a solo backpacker like me. I enjoyed the scenic views the resort has to offer- the lovely beach, clean pools and their green luscious forestry and garden. On top of that, all the staff were warm and accommodating. Add that up to the fact that the resort's owner was hands-on in taking care of the business and its customers. I commend Nic for developing his private property and eventually opening it up to the public after few years. You will definitely enjoy staying in Moalboal Beach Resort! 5 star experience for a budget travel. ^.^
+ Private water/river + Nice pool + Beautiful location with a lot of nature - Rooms not well isolated so you can hear the neighbours - Cold water for showering - Food is not great - Reception was 40 minutes late which made us miss breakfast since we had a pickup - Wifi is non working
