“Good location and service, but definitely not a 5-star resort”
Stayed in the Ocean Wing Bourgogne room for 2 nights. Good features: - Service by staff is good - Hotel provided a birthday cake for our birthday celebration - View is very nice, having a full sea view with a few trees - Seawater pool is a nice touch However, a lot of features did not live up to my expectations. - Room fittings and quality are low and poorly maintained. The sliding doors are creaking, cupboards are musty - Room advertises an outdoor rain shower, but there is neither an outdoor shower nor a rain shower. There is a shower that comes from the ceiling but it so close to the wall that it needs to be tilted to be used properly. - Roof in the balcony is leaking, with collected rainwater leaking below - Room had many mosquitoes when I moved in. Staff could have sprayed the whole room first. - Ocean Wing is located a 5-10min walk away from the main hotel. For a 5-star hotel, a buggy service could have been provided. However, we were forced to walk up and down the hill in between, most of the time - Spa is very small, and the counter was never manned when I tried to make a booking - Breakfast quality was poor and there was very little variety. I found hair in my omlette. Cornflakes were stale. - Pools were not regularly cleaned. Dry leaves and insects in the fresh water poor - We ordered room service. Food was very average quality, not one worthy of a 5-star Overall, this hotel is falsely advertising itself as an "upmarket 5-star hotel", whereas it is nowhere near 5-star quality. It is also downright lying about having an "outdoor rain shower". However, it is good for a solid 3 star experience. One with a nice view. Please do not go here if you expect a five star experience
