“Amazing place, even more amazing staff”

This place is 100% stress free from the moment you get there. They let us drop off our bags early before the check in time and brought them to our room. They even showed us some sightseeing spots while we waited for our check in time to come around. The room is very clean and they give you hot tea in your room after every meal. The food was absolutely amazing, and you will eat more than your fill here. The staff showed us foreigners how to cook the food and were so helpful through every process. The open air bath was so cool and relaxing, it started raining and you can feel everything from stress to muscle knots wash away. Definitely get the meals here’s, there’s not a lot of shops or food nearby. All in all I would 100% recommend this place.

    “Excellent”

Our family spent two nights here in winter, and the weather was particularly good this time, with no rain or snow throughout our stay. The sky was clear and dry, and winter in the mountainous areas of Kyoto is usually quite dry. This experience was especially comfortable and refreshing! The shuttle bus ride offered bright and clean mountain scenery, with fresh air. My parents felt relaxed the whole way, while the children excitedly took lots of photos. When we arrived at the inn, the staff warmly welcomed us at the door, and their friendly greeting made my parents feel well cared for. Upon entering, we changed into slippers, received hot green tea, and everyone sat down to chat and relax, instantly forgetting the stress of the city. We booked two rooms: my wife and I stayed in a larger traditional room with a private outdoor hot spring (the tatami was comfortable, and our children had a great time playing in the room while the three of us chatted and enjoyed the hot spring together); my parents stayed in another private room (also with an outdoor bath, offering good privacy for them to enjoy at their own pace). Soaking in the hot spring while listening to the sound of the clear Takigawa River, my parents said, "Our joints feel warm, and our bodies are relaxed"; the children and I enjoyed the mountain view and played in the water, and the water temperature in the hot spring was just right for winter, especially comfortable with clearer visibility on a snowless day. The food was amazing! The kaiseki cuisine was beautifully plated and generously portioned, with winter hot pot and healthy dishes available. Our elders had lighter dietary needs, and they adjusted it perfectly; my parents praised that it was "warming without being greasy," while the children were very satisfied with their meals. All meals were served in the inn, with a healing view of the river or mountain. This place is so quiet that you can only hear the sounds of nature, making it perfect for a family to chat, enjoy the hot spring, and take walks. The old rustic inn had some natural little marks of age, but under snowless weather, it felt even more fresh and dry, completely unaffected. The prices are not low, but the whole family felt it was incredibly worth it, leaving us with many warm memories! I highly recommend this place to families looking to relax with their parents and children in winter. Having separate rooms while being able to interact anytime is truly wonderful, and we want to come back next time!

Upon entering, we changed into slippers and were served hot green tea; everyone sat down to chat and relax, instantly forgetting the pressures of the city. We booked two rooms: my wife and I stayed in a larger Japanese-style room with a private outdoor hot spring (the tatami mats were comfortable, and the children had a great time playing in the room while the three of us chatted and enjoyed the hot spring—it was so chill); my parents stayed in another independent room (which also had an outdoor bath, ensuring privacy, allowing them to relax slowly). Soaking in the hot spring while listening to the sound of the flowing Kiyotaki River, my parents said, "Our joints feel warm and our whole bodies are relaxed." Meanwhile, we were in the room enjoying the mountain view and playing in the water—the water temperature of the hot spring in winter was just right, especially comfortable, and the visibility was clearer with no snow. The food was amazing! The kaiseki cuisine was exquisitely plated and generously portioned, with winter hot pot dishes or nourishing vegetables. We had elderly family members who preferred lighter cuisine, and they adapted very well; my parents praised it as "warming without being greasy," and the children were extremely satisfied with their meals. We dined entirely within the inn, enjoying views of the river or mountains, which were incredibly soothing. It was so peaceful here that we could only hear the sounds of nature, making it perfect for family chats, soaking in the hot springs, and taking walks. The rustic old inn had some natural signs of age, but in the rain-free and snow-free weather, it felt even fresher and drier, which did not detract from the experience at all. The price isn’t low, but the whole family felt it was more than worth it, leaving behind many warm memories! I highly recommend it to families looking to relax with their parents and children in winter—having separate rooms while still being able to interact whenever we wanted was truly fantastic, and we want to come again next time!

    “A beautiful and unforgettable stay”

We spent a wonderful 2 nights here and it was the perfect relaxing break between city hopping and exploring Japan. It's in a beautiful rural location but still so well connected by both their own free shuttle bus as well as local services if the timings are more convenient. The customer service was faultless, and there was clearly a lot of care taken with the food - we are vegan and they accommodated us with minimal fuss and with food that was still top standard and adventurous. We had the room with private onsen and it was the most zen, tranquil luxury experience. It is a very traditional inn in a very rural location - I did read some reviews re cleanliness but we found cleanliness appropriate (eg toilet, sink etc were spotless). There are some stains from I suspect where people have had to squash bugs but honestly this didn't detract from it at all - just got to be realistic given the location! We never spend this sort of money on a stay but we're so glad we did as it was unforgettable. It was worth the hype for us 100%.

“Great experience and even better food and service”

Our stay at this traditional Japanese resort in Kyoto was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and an atmosphere of tranquility. The highlight was undoubtedly the incredible food—especially the hot pot, which was both comforting and flavorful. Sleeping on traditional futons added to the authentic experience, and the private onsen was the perfect way to unwind and soak in the peaceful surroundings. Every detail was thoughtfully curated to create an unforgettable stay. If you’re looking for an immersive and deeply relaxing Kyoto experience, this resort is an absolute must.
