I wish I could have stayed longer!! Want to go back!”
I went there for 1 day as part of our Honeymoon. It was totally worth it and me and hubby wished to stay longer. Pickup We took shuttle from the station and even though I forgot to inform them the pickup time, I had no issue of taking the shuttle bus. The bus arrived on time and it has “Momijiya” sign on the side the bus. Room We stayed at western style room because we just wanted to have a bigger room with nice terrace area, even though we actualky didn’t use the bed. The staff nicely prepared putton after dinner as we requested. Bath area It was perfect for us! The water was warm and we could easily warm up. The small garden area next to bath was amazing. It really help release all our fatigue after all the wedding prep. Haha! Food Dinner was served to our room. Food is served nicely one by one and at the end, you will be pretty full! They have beer/drink options to add. Breakfast was also good and athentic japanese style. Overall, I would love to revisit them!

Love love love this ryokan! Very serene, peaceful, relaxing, and clean. All the workers are very kind and accommodating. If you want to be pampered, then definitely come here. The food is also outstanding! Will definitely go back here again in the future!

Typical Japanese service”
On the day we arrived, we were much earlier than regular check-in time. Manger and staff were very courtesy and warmly invited us to inside the lobby floor, took our luggage and provided tea. We did feel welcome here. On the checked out day, it was raining hard outside, we were asked to wait outside in the rain for the bus by duty manager/staff.

Staying at the Momijiya Ryokan was an incredible experience! The location is breathtaking and the service was awesome. Our private Onsen in our room was just the cherry on top. Highly recommended!

Away from it all in Kyoto”
This is an unusual and welcome place to go to if you want to escape the crowds in Kyoto City. There are some lovely temples right nearby to walk to, and lovely scenery of trees and the river. This was our first experience in a Ryokan, what an experience. The outside bath was a joy. The staff were very efficient and tried to explain in English how to go about things. The dinner was served in our room and was quite sumptuous. The food is typically Japanese (of course) and some of it was not to our taste, but we enjoyed trying it all. Sleeping on futons was not overly comfortable, but we rose to the occasion. Amazing charcoal ember ‘hot water bottles’ placed under the futon were very welcome. Two nights is probably the maximum we would want to spend here.

Best experience ever! ”
This place was absolutely stunning. It was a big highlight for our trip and we would recommend it to everyone. The hosts were great and accomidating and they even had full traditional Japanese meals for dinner and breakfast. If I ever return to Japan I will be returning to this ryokan.

Excellent ryokan, great experience!”
Probably one of my favorite experiences out of my two week trip to Tokyo and Kyoto. The staff are super friendly and speak good English. There is a convenient shuttle bus from hanazono station to the ryokan. Just make sure you call ahead and let them know you will need the bus. Take the JR line from Kyoto station to hanazono station once you arrive. I booked a room with a private outdoor bath and it was just awesome. My wife loved the atmosphere of the ryokan and surroundings. There are 3 interesting shrines to visit within 15-30 minute walking distance. Overall highly recommend this place! The food is just awesome!

This place is Bomb”
Oh my days! This place is incredible, seems pricey compared to some options but, great location, staff are incredible and the rooms and food, get out of town! The hot tub is the main event, and having this as a private space with the room makes an already amazing experience, a cut above. If you treat yourself to one thing in Japan, make sure it's here

Peace of mind”
If you want to relax and to be connected to Nature this is definitely the place for you to stay, especially if you have spent some time in downtown Kyoto already. As soon you arrive the Ryokan the time has a different rhythm. Strongly advise for people that are looking for being within themselves and close to one of the best natural locations in just a few minutes from Kyoto.

Amazing”
This is an amazing ryokan located a little ways outside of kyoto. The scenery is fabulous, located on the side of a mountain with a river right below you. There is also a large temple accross the road that you can hike up to (about 20 minutes up hill) or there is a trail that follows the river. The staff is all excellent with great service.

Blissful haven in the mountains”
Nestled within the valley of Mt Takaoyama, some 20 minutes from Kyoto central lies the sleepy town of Umegahata. The town has 3 other hotels / ryokans but we were glad to have picked Momijiya (Iori) as it was nothing short of a blissful experience. Despite the bone freezing tempretatues, it was calming - nay, soul enriching, to be able to soak in our private outdoor bath whilst taking in the zen like garden which was walled off by nature, the trees and the misty mountain of Mt Takao, especially after a long hike about the area. The Ryokan Annex (not to be confused with the Main building/ Honkan) is within walking distance of several temples and it also straddles a lovely river which you could hike along a man made path. To round up our pleasant stay here, this Ryokan had served up a really scrumptious dinner and breakfast. Though the bath was a bit too small for 2 at a time, I would still recommend a stay over at Momijiya simply for a true Japanese Ryokan experience!

Beautiful stay”
This is definitely an experience to remember! It's a beautiful location, surrounded by nature. We splurged and got the room with the private outdoor bath - money well spent!! We woke up the next morning to a light fall of snow and sat in the bath watching it. Breathtaking! The location is a little tricky, taxi is the best way to go. The staff were sweet and helpful.

This Ryokan is phenomenal. Definitely get the meal as it is a magical experience. Although, I was so full that I barely wanted breakfast 10 hours later. We spent most of our time in the large private outdoor tub. I spent so much time in the water I think I am still pruned 2 days later. The only negative which is no fault of the hosts, is that my western back had a hard time with the traditional bedding. I am simply not used to such a FIRM mattress/futon/bedding.
