It’s a very nice place to relax and enjoy the nature. Food is also nice but a bit expensive. Have many types of room with garden view or sea view to choose. It was a great stay for us. For your information, English speaking staff works only on weekend.

Cons: 1)horrible food, tasteless, small portion but way too over priced. 2)breakfast- bad, so bad. The toast with butter is the only thing you should be expecting. Rest 0 3)no room service 4) no aircond from 6am till 9pm 5) Rooms are old and not maintained at all 6) Basic things as providing new towels, water, changing of sheets, room cleaning, for a daily basis is not provided. Pros 1) beautiful view for a short trip from Hanoi. 2)Staff(Sen) amazing very helpful and very responsive. 3)Quiet

Great location for a night”
We stayed there for a night and that was enough for us! Beautiful location, lovely hike up to the peak of the island which offered a great view of Lan ha Bay. The facility was ok until we had our visitors (hundreds of them actually) in middle of the night - they were flying white ants in our room. Thanks goodness there was mozzie net in the wardrobe which saved the night!

Lovely resort for relax and honey moon”
my wife and i came here to stay 1 night for our honey moon trip. almost, the resort is very nice. the location is great. it is out of noisy life in the main land. it is 2 kilometers from cat ba town. we got there by a mini bus and tourist boat of the company. the food here was so good and plentiful. we liked the way the staffs here behaved and talked to the customers coming here. they were friendly and humorous. the beach is nice and the water here is pure and no rubbish. it is rather different from beach and water in ha long bay and cat ba town. bungalows on the island are unique and special. the most of bungalow are made of wood. the equipments in the room are new and very good. in our room, we got tv, pc, internet, air conditioner, shampoo... the monkey restaurant is in the central of the island. it is very convenient to get food. i like activities on the island: kayaking, climbing to visit monkeys, billiard, football, volleyball, swimming... the service here was excellent. it is valuable for spending money great, i will come back!

great place to relax”
This place is difficult to get to. All things in life worth doing are like that in my experience. Taxi. plane, hotel in haiphong, taxi, ferry, xe om, boat. That was our journey from hcm. But it really is paradise, in the morning we ordered our food for lunch and evening and the boat went to town and the fish farm. We went back to cat ba island for the morning and MOODY the manager escorted us and mad sure we got a scooter for hire at the correct pricr, not the tourist rip off price, We are getting married in october and going to bali. If the resort in bali is same as this we will both be very happy. The service and friendly people is amazing. We were there for 3 days and all the staff called us by our first names very intimate and homely

Great place, very good service”
I can recommend this place for everyone who looks for a couple of days of relaxation, swimming, reading. There are two beaches, Monkey Island bungalows with one restaurant....and a lot of sun, sea, peace and quiet. No bars, shops, we did not even see the monkeys. It was a great choice for resting after few weeks of travelling. It is also a great alternative to staying on Catba Island, which has worse beaches and crowded city center. Staff, Manager speaks very good english. Food was very good, however there is only one place to eat, so not much choice. All in all very positive if you have good weather and if you look for a quiet break.

Nice relaxing island break”
Monkey island resort was a great place to spend 3 nights. The food is excellent, and staff were extremely friendly and helpful (particularly Tan who helped make our transportation arrangements). It's in a fantastic location from where its possible to explore neighbouring islands using the sea kayaks provided by the resort.

solid stay, cottage a bit basic, but beach was gre”
I really enjoyed our stay here. They have a free transfer boat from Cat Ba island to their island. They will provide details via email. The cottage was a bit basic for $70, just a bed and a bathroom. It was clean, and they have a/c during the night. There are a few activities such as a gazebo at one end of the island overlooking everything. The beach was alright, a bit rocky and a little foamy, but there were few people swimming so it felt very secluded. You can also kayak to the other side of the island where the waters are a bit cleaner. There is a dinner buffet for $15/person. Average food. Overall I very much liked the secluded feel of Monkey Island. Would recommend!

Secluded corner”
Remote location is good for those who want to retire and take a break from people and noise. Staff friendly and attentive. Manager Mr. James can professionally organized tour, and will advise on any issue. We owe him a very lot. Do not forget that it is an island - do not be surprised insects and animals. We went there to relax, and we got it. On the island you can entertain yourself kayaking, billiards, table tennis, darts. There is a trail inter the mountain to the opposite side of the island, where live monkeys and equipped another beach.

Better vfm thanks to agoda !”
We got this hotel at a bargain price on Agoda. Was great get away from tourist hustle and bustle of Cat Ba. We went at low season so a little cold and undergoing some refurb/ restoration. But all in all a very pleasant break. Hubs didn't appreciate the lack of customer service and cold breakfast. But hey ho :)

We had a nice time visiting Monkey Island, the bungalows were small but clean. The food was really great and the restaurant had a wonderful view. Boat to and from island was included in the room rate and very well organized.

Isolated but relaxing hotel”
The resort is extremly isolated, but great if you are looking for a few days of relaxation. However, had our transport to Monkey Island not have been organised by another cruise company we were with beforehand, we would have found it extremely difficult to get to the island. We booked a superior room which was very beach resort-like, however inside it was very small, felt moist and when it rained at night, the water leaked through the roof onto our bed. The receptionist was great at helping us though, the next day they kindly upgraded us to a large room overlooking the beach. We found the food in the restaurant to be really average and very, very overpriced compared to what we had experienced throughout the rest of Vietnam. Great to go for a walk through the island though, very scenic view of Halong Bay.

Amazing accommondation!”
This is a new resort so facilities are very good, both for leisure and business. We chose the deluxe sea view bungalow to stay in. The staffs were welcoming and friendly. The resort was in a great location, away out from noisy area in the main land. The rooms were clean and spacious with bright airy bathrooms featuring a large corner bath and shower! The beds were super comfortable with amazing pillows and linen; Free internet; air conditioner! Restaurant on the central house was excellent. It was probably the tastiest breakfast and lunch I have tasted in a long while. Plentiful activities around the resort. Immediate response and favorable outcome from management when any problems were faced. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone.

The place is nice for isolated short period stay. Beautiful views, nice beach, short track from hotel beach across the small mountain to a monkey island. They do have monkeys there. However quality of cousine wasbad: breakfast is poor and lunch and dinner are rather costly. Dineer buffet costed 15 usd. Thay also were making some reparations to the hotel and it was quite noisy from time to time.

We stayed for one night at Monkey Island Resort. Getting to the resort from Halong City was quite a struggle. We read forums before going saying to get a hold of the hotel before coming so they could help with arrangements to get there. Unfortunately, after numerous attempts at contacting the hotel we still did not get a hold of them or any response via email. Nevertheless, when we finally got there, the location and view of Halong Bay was breathtaking. We kayaked, hiked, swam, played pool and table tennis and relaxed. The food was basic but fairly decent value for money. The bar was very quiet (I think most people were on Island time so went to bed early). Some staff were friendly and helpful. Particularly an elderly groundsman however, some of the front counter staff seemed quite harassed (although they werent busy). For the time it took to get there, another night would have been ideal. Overall, a beautiful location and relaxing.

My friend and I are two young backpackers that decided to have one 'splurge' after weeks of $3 hostels and honestly the facilities in the hostels were better. There is very limited wifi in the reception, boat to the Island felt very unsafe (we are sailors so used to the sea) especially when you have to jump from boat onto a slippery rock, ac is only on at night, no hot water, water is very expensive. Our major issue was having to pay an extortionate amount for food and drinks - we were interrogated by staff about food from off island leaving us uncomfortable and not feeling welcome. The resort is used a lot for tours on halong bay and they definitely feel prioritised. I cannot fault the location as it is a stunning bay and all tours from cat ba seem to stop on monkey island - so it's a definite hotspot and we still do not regret our stay here. It was not worth the price we paid - there's rubbish everywhere and left over construction debris scattered everywhere. The staff are trying however with the choppy sea they all appeared overwhelmed and most of the time very unprofessional

A pleasant surprise awaits you on monkey island”
I didnt expect much but the facility was much better than i expected with very friendly staff. As you approachthe island you will be taken away by the view of the hotel from far, set alone in a private beach with few sun beds.
