Stayed 3 nights in February 2016
Montenova Malapascua Island Philippines”
The hotel was like being in the middle of a refuse dump. My room was. On the side and I had to navigate through ripped abandoned couches, old video game stands, discarded tanks of some sort. The common area was filled with discarded items such as about 15 old video terminals shoved into a corner. The bar had equipment in it that looked to be ld and not functioning. The room was bed with clean sheets. Only the wall bracket for a TV. remained. A gas two burner cook top was on the counter but without any connection to gas. The sink in the counter was corroding. The window drapes were sagging from rods which did not support them. The room did have decent AC and the shower had hot water although the on demand hot water heater was plugged into an exposed electrical outlet just above the shower head with the ground wire exposed. I had paid for three days and there was no daily cleaning room service.Shampoo and soap or fresh towels were never provided after the first night. Bottled water was not provided on the room. Breakfast was boring. An egg, a helping of white rice and two wieners. Coffee was a packet of instant. There was no fresh fruit, fruit juice or yogourt or cereal. The common area did have a water dispenser which provided hot water for making instant coffee or soup or cold water to fill a small water bottle. There was no signage along the many paths on the island indicating where the hotel was was hard to find your way back at night especially when there were few street lights. The staff did not know much about the area to give directions or to suggest outings such as dives or walks. Since they cater to foreign tourist I thought most would be able to speak a second language but not many of the staff did. This was the most expensive resort I have stayed in in the Philippines at $75 Canadian and the worst dive I have stayed n in the Philippines. I am surprised AGODA would present them as an option to stay in at the price one must pay.
